A storyboard is the most crucial part of any series, especially in the case of anime or manga. However, this was not the concern of legendary manga artist Akira Toriyama, who blessed the manga and anime world with the creation of Dragon Ball. This was revealed by the illustrator of the Dragon Ball Super manga, Toyotarou.
Dragon Ball Super by Akira Toriyama
Toyotarou has been working on Dragon Ball Super since 2015, and he is probably the biggest Dragon Ball and Toriyama fan in the world. His career started by creating Dragon Ball illustrations, and after the death of Toriyama, many believe that Toyotarou will be the one who continues the remaining story of Dragon Ball in the future.
When Dragon Ball Super got its anime adaptation in 2016, Toyotarou gave an interview where he discussed his relationship with Toriyama and also talked about Toriyama’s mindset regarding the narrative of Dragon Ball Super.

As the final phase of One Piece has already started with the Egghead Island arc, there are still some storylines and characters that Eiichiro Oda has yet to introduce in the story. One of them is the anticipated “pirate with the eye patch”, who, according to the creator, might be one of the most important characters of the series.
One Piece
In 2007, Oda talked about a pirate with an eye patch who was going to bring a huge change to One Piece. This came as a shock to One Piece fans because, despite One Piece being an anime and manga series about pirates, it has never once featured a pirate with the stereotypical eye patch.
However, Oda did not mention whether a new character would be introduced or whether an old character would get an eye patch. This led to many fans believing that the anticipated pirate with the eye...

Yes, you read that right. Legendary mangaka Akira Toriyama admitted to not learning muscle models in a discussion with Eiichiro Oda, the author of One Piece. Oda, who is a huge fanboy of Toriyama, was equally shocked by the news.

According to the interview, Koyoharu Gotouge looked over the scenarios, character designs as well as settings of the Demon Slayer anime. They were intimately involved with the anime creation process. However, the writer also had immense trust in Ufotable, and rather than constantly nitpicking about changes, they just adhered to providing useful advice.

After becoming renowned in the manga world, Mangaka Koyoharu Gotouge sensei’s Demon Slayer went on to conquer the anime world as well through its anime adaptation of the same name. And while the fan-favorite masterpiece story still holds an edge in both industries among other superhit and widely acclaimed projects, One Piece remains one of its strongest competitors in both.
Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba.
That being said, there is one thing that gives a further edge to Kimetsu no Yaiba over Eiichiro Oda sensei’s storyline. But this one thing isn’t related to the stories of the sagas, but rather, the animated versions of them, in which Gotouge sensei’s story seems to have effortlessly passed its opponent, thanks to all the new techniques used to efficiently transform the anime into its best version.

The narrative of One Piece has frequently pointed out the fact that Shanks’ crew is the only Emperor crew in the series who do not possess any kind of Devil Fruit abilities. He has reached such great heights in the Pirate world only because of his Haki abilities. This is indeed an incredible feat, and no other crew has been able to do this.

Dragon Ball characters, be they protagonists or antagonists, are known to be some of the strongest characters in the anime and manga universe. One such character is Beerus, the God of Destruction of Universe 7. Although he is now a supporting character in Dragon Ball Super, he was introduced as one of the strongest villains Akira Toriyama’s universe has ever seen.
The Dragon Ball universe
There are very few characters in the anime and manga world who can be compared to the extremely dangerous strength of the God of Destruction. Even the likes of Goku and Vegeta together could not defeat the character. However, Jujutsu Kaisen fans have recently made a claim that might not be liked by Dragon Ball fans.
Fans of Gege Akutami’s Jujutsu Kaisen shared a post on X(Formerly Twitter) that pointed out that the antagonist of Jujutsu Kaisen, Sukuna, might be stronger than Beerus.

Goku, the protagonist of Dragon Ball and one of the strongest characters in the anime world, is known for a lot of things. From his goofy attitude to his never-ending hunger to fight strong opponents, Goku has developed quite a distinctive personality for himself. But one thing that makes him iconic is his unique hair.
Goku’s Super Saiyan Hairstyle
Goku’s hairstyle is one of the most popular traits of the character. His different Saiyan forms have had different hairstyles, and fans have loved all of them. These hairstyles also became a depiction of his various power-ups in the Dragon Ball universe. His style became so iconic that Akira Toriyama started using it with other Saiyan characters too.
However, Toriyama once revealed that Goku’s unique hair is not just a fashion statement or a power depiction, but it helps him compensate for a major factor in the Dragon Ball manga.

In their quest to create a unique character, mangakas often build an overpowered or ‘stronger than the rest’ protagonist, who has plot armor from the get-go. Whether it is Dragon Ball or One Piece, the heroes are always a class apart. So, how come Naruto turned out to be such a goofy loser?
For Masashi Kishimoto, off-screen character development is not a viable option, which is why he built Naruto from scratch. For a major part of the anime, the protagonist is seen losing, suffering, training, and getting defeated until he learns from all his mistakes.
Consequently, watching Naruto’s journey helped readers and watchers develop a close bond with him.

Mayumi Tanaka, the voice actor of Monkey D. Luffy, the captain of the Straw Hat Pirates in One Piece, might have found the perfect replacement who can take over her role as Luffy. Tanaka has been voicing Luffy for almost thirty years, and she has done a great job portraying the character over the years.

However, as she is getting old and the series is still a little far away from the conclusion, the creators might have to find someone else who could do justice to the character of Luffy. In an interview, Oda talked about how Masako Nozawa, the character who voiced Dr. Kureha in One Piece, offered to take Tanaka’s role as Luffy’s voice actor in One Piece.

One Piece has been trending since the beginning of Monkey D. Luffy vs. Rob Lucci on the Egghead Island. Even though there are several anime that are pretty good and competing for first place, One Piece has made the first position its stronghold. Thousands of readers prefer One Piece over other manga, and Eiichiro Oda has worked hard to achieve that level of popularity.
But it was not always like this. Before the rivalry of the Big Three of anime, Eiichiro Oda was hell-bent on surpassing a certain manga on the Weekly Shounen Jump. It always used to come up on top, and at one point, Oda sensei became desperate. The manga that challenged One Piece was none other than Detective Conan, which is still going on.

Be it the movies, anime, or manga, it stands in the big three for a season no one can turn a blind eye to. Such a case also justifies the fact as to why a live-action movie would work towards increasing an already massive fan following. However, it took years of practice to perfect such a piece of art.

Goku, the protagonist of Akira Toriyama’s Dragon Ball, has received multiple power-ups over the years. From Super Saiyan 1 to Ultra Instinct, Goku’s strength has significantly grown in the series as he unlocks new forms every time he faces a strong rival or antagonist in Dragon Ball. These forms are the result of his extreme training and the need to save everyone.
Goku Ultra Instinct
However, there is one power-up of Goku that may have taken inspiration from another popular anime series. This power-up is called Perfected Ultra Instinct (Giant Form), and it looks like for this ability, Toriyama took inspiration from Masashi Kishimoto’s Naruto. Toriyama’s taking inspiration from Naruto is a big achievement for Kishimoto.

Emperors of the Sea, or Yonko in the One Piece universe, are the strongest pirates who rule the seas. When the series started, the four Emperors who were introduced were Whitebeard, Big Mom, Kaido, and Shanks. Big Mom, Whitebeard, and Kaido were previously part of the same crew, with their captain being Rocks D. Xebec. Shanks was a part of Gol D. Roger’s crew.
The Yonkos – One Piece
However, as the new pirate era started, Whitebeard, Big Mom, and Kaido were either defeated or killed by others to bring in the new age of pirates to take their place. The new and current Yonkos of the sea are Luffy, Blackbeard, and Buggy, with Shanks being the only one who has still retained his title.
The main sources of power among these emperors are either Haki techniques or Devil Fruits, which make them extremely dangerous. Among the four emperors, the strongest right now is Shanks.

Masashi Kishimoto has always been very careful in crafting the characters in both Naruto and Boruto. That is not to say that Eiichiro Oda doesn’t pay attention to One Piece characters. Quite the contrary, seeing that both the mangaka have excellently developed some of the most loved characters in the shonen genre altogether.
A still from Kishimoto’s Naruto.

The only Emperor of the Sea left from the previous era of One Piece, Red-Haired Shanks has been a mystery for One Piece fans for a long time. Even with one hand, Shanks has maintained his image as one of the strongest characters in the entire series, and he even proved it when he defeated the entire pirate crew of Eustass Kid in just a few moments.

However, Shanks losing his arm was not a coincidence. It was revealed in an interview that Eiichiro Oda’s editor suggested that Shanks was too strong for One Piece and it would make the story too boring, which is why Oda decided to cut his arm off when he saved Luffy from Sea King.

One Piece has had its fair share of dark moments, even though it is listed as a comedy series. The series has been quite popular in the anime and manga world for reflecting on controversial real-world dark themes like discrimination, political corruption, slavery, dictatorship, human trafficking, etc.
Big Mom (Credit: Toei Animation)
Discussing such issues requires the series to portray them through narratives and storylines that get pretty dark but still offer a moral lesson. It is one of the reasons One Piece is considered to be one of the best anime and manga series of all time. While there are many dark plots discussed in the series, there is one that, according to many fans, went too far.
The narrative revolves around the past of the former Emperor of the Sea and the captain of the Big Mom Pirates. It was used to focus on the dangerous eating disorder that Big Mom suffered from.

Created, written, and drawn by Makoto Yukimura, Vinland Saga is a historical epic and a work of true genius. While many series rely on high-stakes action to become massive names, Yukimura’s manga cements its status by making its readers appreciate the great storytelling and the emotional depth it features. At first glance, the manga will look like an action series, taking place in ancient Scandinavia of the Viking Age, showcasing how a young Thorfinn seeks revenge on a mercenary who killed his father.

However, once knee-deep in the series, the readers will find how the series features the theme of fatherhood, honor, and the consequences of violence. Boa Hancock is one of the most powerful female characters in One Piece. She was introduced in the Amazon Lily arc, and since then, she has been an ally of Luffy and his crew. She helped Luffy reach Impel Down to save his brother Ace, and she even helped him get better after the Paramount War in the Marineford arc.
Boa Hancock – One Piece
Boa Hancock recently made an appearance in the story when Blackbeard decided to go after her Devil Fruit abilities. Many believe that she is one of the worst-written characters in the series because her role is quite short compared to her powers, which does not do justice to her character and her abilities.
However, there is a chance that Eiichiro Oda might be saving her for the final war and will bring her back to help the Straw Hat Pirates fight the World Government during the conclusion.

The main character of Akira Toriyama’s Dragon Ball, Goku, has gone through multiple power-ups over the years, but the most interesting one among them was the fusion technique. It allowed Goku to fuse with his supporting character, Vegeta, who is also a powerful Saiyan, giving them a combination of their overall abilities and strengths.

Anime’s popularity can be attributed to a number of factors, including its diverse genres, unique storytelling methods, and its unique art style. But what makes anime more interesting is how they include raw violence to add an extra layer of intensity and realism to their plot. Nowadays, anime studios are censoring themselves as they are making anime following Western standards.

Akira Toriyama’s magnum opus, Dragon Ball, has been entertaining fans for over 40 years. Over time, the series developed into a narrative that has been distributed into different sequels and spin-offs like Dragon Ball Z, Dragon Ball Super, and the latest addition to the franchise, the upcoming Dragon Ball Daima.

The live-action adaptation of the extremely popular anime, One Piece, managed to live up to the fans’ expectations, something which is quite rare these days. With just the first season out right now, the series stands at a score of 85% on Rotten Tomatoes, whereas the audience score for the film is 95%. Needless to say, both fans and critics were more than pleased with the outcome of Matt Owens and Steven Maeda’s hard work.

However, while everything seems to be right on point with the adaptation, it looks like fans have one complaint – the wigs. From Emily Rudd’s Nami to Chioma Umeala’s Nojiko, fans cannot begin to comprehend what went wrong with the wigs department over at Netflix and some even wonder if the streaming platform’s star series Stranger Things took up the entire budget of the streamer had for wigs.

Franchises like Haikyu!!, Kagurabachi and more have included Zoro references in their plot, proving that other mangakas are nerds for Eiichiro Oda’s work. But make sure this doesn’t reach the ears of Sanji fans, or the rivalry between the characters might just prove fatal.
