In "Bates Motel" Season 2, the town of White Pine Bay will become a much bigger character on the show. Though viewers realized some of the sinister nature of its inhabitants and the drug trade in the show's first season, those elements will come to the forefront this year.
Because of that, the drama at home with Norma and Norman Bates will be balanced with the growing presence of White Pine Bay's crime world. Many of Season 2's new characters come from the drug families, and their involvement in the main "Bates Motel" storylines will greatly affect all of the main characters on the show.
"The whole drug world will open up this season. The whole underbelly will be exposed," Nestor Carbonell, who plays Sheriff Romero, tells Zap2it at the show's red-carpet premiere. "We'll really get to see how it works, how it's sustained, and how I navigate those waters.

Warning: Spoilers from "Bates Motel" Season 1 are contained in this article.
"Bates Motel" made a splash when it premiered its modern day reimagining of "Psycho" on A&E earlier in the year. The first season ended with a cliffhanger showing with Freddie Highmore's Norman Bates seemingly committing a murder, and fans shouldn't expect for it to take long for the facts surrounding Miss Watson's death to be revealed.
"At that moment with Miss Watson it's not immediately obvious which conclusion to draw. This show is infinitely more exciting for that, especially when your main characters are so ambiguous, you find yourself almost rooting for Norman despite the fact you know he's going to become this infamous serial killer," Highmore tells Zap2it while promoting the Sept. 17 release of the "Bates Motel" Season 1 Blu-ray. "That conflict is what makes the show fun -- for me, anyway."

In a Screen Actors Guild election that was widely considered a referendum on merger with the American Federation of Television and Radio Artists, proponents of that idea emerged with a clear mandate. When the results of SAG's 2010 national board of directors election were announced Sept. 23, MembershipFirst, the SAG faction that emerged from the group of actors who helped scuttle merger in 2003, lost the fight for all 13 Hollywood-based national seats up for grabs to its rival faction, the pro-merger Unite for Strength. MembershipFirst partisans had held all 13 of those seats. The loss hands the coalition of Hollywood, New York, and regional moderates who had held a slim majority of the national seats—and who have been vocal in support of merger—a commanding boardroom advantage.Even more striking is MembershipFirst's loss of its majority on the Hollywood board. Unite for Strength won an overwhelming 33 of 35 open seats. Ufs, formed in...

Jeff Garlin, Ron Perlman, Clark Gregg and Gabrielle Carteris are among the candidates from the Unite for Strength party vying for seats on the Screen Actors Guild's national and Hollywood Division boards.
Ufs announced Wednesday its full slate of 35 candidates, which includes 15 Hollywood board incumbents and a number of first-timers. Ballots go out to Hollywood Division members August 24 and must be returned by Sept. 23, when results will be tallied.
A first round of preliminary discussions with employers for a new TV-theatrical contract begins four days later. That deal expires June 30.
The Ufs party, which is part of a majority coalition that now runs the guild, was founded in 2008 in the midst of inter-union strife and took the hotly contested presidency last fall with its candidate Ken Howard.
"I'm inspired by our candidates," said Howard. "These are smart, dedicated SAG members who are passionate about protecting actors. They represent the diversity...

I am seriously behind on Fringe, which is unfortunate, because I hear it's getting crazy good. When the show returns on January 14th (see when your other favorite shows return in 2010), the group will be traveling to a small town to solve a mystery there. Fox has released promo photos and a synopsis of the January 14th episode.

Mission Improbable. John Glenn. Photographed by Michael O'Neill in Building 9, Johnson Space Center, Houston, Texas, July 2, 1998. He became an icon at age 40, when he was the first American to orbit Earth. The dreams and hopes of an entire nation were realized when Neil Armstrong, Buzz Aldrin, and Michael Collins successfully landed Apollo 11 on July 16, 1969, the first manned mission to the moon. Forty years ago today, Armstrong became the first man to walk on the moon, fulfilling the goal President John F. Kennedy presented to Congress eight years earlier. Louis Vuitton, Omega, and a slew of other companies have recently launched big publicity campaigns honoring the historic feat of three brave frontiersmen. Here at Vf Daily, we’re paying our respect by showcasing Vanity Fair's October 1998 portfolio of space pioneers, which features the surviving astronauts and mission controllers of the Mercury-Gemini era. After all, as Isaac Newton famously said, “If...
