MJ Peters (Matthew J Peters) grew up on a dairy farm south central Wisconsin. It was the movie Back to the Future (1985) that set his heart on making movies and being in the video business.
In high school he was given a video camera and went to work creating story videos with friends and shooting videos for hire. At 17 he built a commercial sound studio where he began writing music, recording it and opening it up to the public as Genesis Records. He was mentored by video editor, Tucker Boyd, where he learned from his first professional video shoot at the Harley Davidson factory film productions with impeccability.
Matthew pursued video and film at the University of Wisconsin - Stevens Point and in the first semester of his freshman year, won an Emmy for his first music video, Keeper of the Flame, where he crafted the visuals, played and recorded his original song, and performed in the video with fellow musicians.
The following year, he dusted off an Arri 16S and took off cross country for a 5-day whirlwind production of his second music video, Monument; an epic challenge set in the year 1869 and in both English and Danish with subtitles. Matthew won a Communicator Award for his second piece.
Since then, Matthew has pursued commercial video production and applied his education and experience to video marketing. In 2010, Matthew became one of the first to teach small business owners how to create professional quality videos with their smartphones, with his Smartphone Video Producer online course.
In 2011, Matthew took his love for filmmaking, songwriting and mystery and produced the project known as Far from Haggersville (2011) a music album, scenes from a film, and a variety of clues throughout the audio, video, and print media that led to a real-world, cross country adventure.
The feature documentary, The United State of Mind: The Future of Unity in Diversity (2022) was co-written, directed, and edited by Matthew.
With recent improvements in Social Media, Matthew is combining the production qualities of movie making with social media marketing to create a hybrid entertainment that attracts more clients and customers and builds a loyal following, taking some clients from less that 200 social media accounts reached to well over 2,000,000 accounts reached within 30 days.
Today, Matthew is working in both feature film production and video marketing with multiple film projects in various stages of production.
