- At the age of 13, he was originally cast as "Henry Evans" in the film The Good Son (1993). The film later was put on hold in the middle of script rehearsals due to lack of funding. Five years went by and Michael was too old to play the role and Macaulay Culkin was cast in his place.

- At 15 years old, he typed a letter to Steven Spielberg asking him if he could be his apprentice. He had it hand delivered to him personally by Steven's secretary. Four days later, he received a hand written letter back telling him, "Don't waste your time apprenticing. You can only learn from doing, not watching. This is what I learned. Good luck + go for it!"
