The 2023 Nantucket Film Festival, running June 21-26, with kick off with four films on its opening day lineup. For the 12th consecutive year, a Disney and Pixar movie will open the festival with “Elemental,” which premieres in May at the Cannes International Film Festival.

Throughout the pandemic that has ravaged Central America, the region’s most prominent film event, the Panama International Film Festival (Iff Panama), has forged on virtually in its continued bid to bolster local projects and talent.
To mark its 10th anniversary this year, a smaller hybrid edition kicks off on Dec. 3 with “Plaza Catedral,” Panama’s submission to the Oscars, and wraps Dec. 5 with Michel Franco’s “Sundown,” starring Tim Roth, which competed for the Golden Lion at Venice.
“We couldn’t pass up celebrating our 10th anniversary, even if it were on a smaller scale this year,” said festival director Pituka Ortega Heilbron, who cites encouragement from the international and local industry as key reasons to push onward, notwithstanding the setbacks from the pandemic.

“The Wedding of the Century,” a documentary about the wedding of Lady Diana Spencer and Prince Charles, will bow on BBC and ITV’s streamer BritBox in July in time for the event’s 40th anniversary.
On July 29, 1981, a record 750 million people in 74 countries tuned in to see the couple exchange vows at St. Paul’s Cathedral in London. Video technology then couldn’t quite capture the details in all their glory, and all except for one media outlet captured the event on poor quality standard definition video tape.
British Movietone shot the ceremony on 35mm film, which has now been upgraded to 4K resolution. The restored footage is the centerpiece of the documentary from Touchdown Films, which also includes unheard anecdotes from the day and interviews with key insiders involved in planning the event.

Amy Jump adapted the screenplay from Jg Ballard’s 1975 satirical novel about class and wealth that centres on the deadly internecine warfare that engulfs an apartment block.
Jeremy Thomas produced and Peter Watson, Thorsten Schumacher, Lizzie Francke, Sam Lavender, Anna Higgs, Gabriella Martinelli, Christopher Simon and Genevieve Lemal served as executive producers.
“I’m very excited about working with Magnet again,” said Wheatley. “They have the brains and the balls to handle the crazy beast that is High-Rise.” Magnet distributed Wheatley’s first film, Down Terrace.

The Co-producers include Germany’s A Company Filmed Entertainment’s Alexander van Duelmen and Kai Kuenneman, Belgian’s Scope Pictures’ Genevieve Lemal and Left Field Ventures’ John Engel.
Currently in post-production, Madame Bovary was shot in Le Perche, France. Radiant Films International is handling foreign sales.

Logan Marshall-Green, Cannes Film Festival Best Actor Winner and Cesar Award nominee Olivier Gourmet and Laura Carmichael have joined the all-star cast of "Madame Bovary" featuring Mia Wasikowska, Ezra Miller, Academy-Award nominee Paul Giamatti, Rhys Ifans and Henry Lloyd-Hughes.
Principal photography on the film commences on today on location in Normandy, France.
"Madame Bovary" tells the tragic story of Emma (Wasikowska), a young beauty who impulsively marries a small-town doctor to leave her father’s pig farm behind. But after being introduced to the glamorous world of high society, she soon becomes bored with her stodgy mate and seeks excitement and status outside the bonds of marriage.
Marshall-Green will play The Marquis. Gourmet will star as Monsieur Roualt and Carmichael has been cast as Henrietta. Sophie Barthes ("Cold Souls") directs the passionate drama from a screenplay by Rose Barrenche & Sophie Barthes who adapted Gustave Flaubert’s classic novel.
