Late last year we checked in on an online horror performance in which the characters were interacting live with the audience. Killcam Live was an extremely unique concept, a live horror event playing out before us.
Then, what started as a small project suddenly exploded into an online movement which tallied over 3 million views.
"It was really great to have all those people come in and get excited," said one of the featured performers in Killcam Live, Sam Weller. "It was a boon."
As it turned out, Killcam Live was a six-week live performance that allowed fans to interact directly with the performers via webcam. The actors would rotate into a kill room, spending as much as 72 hours, and sometimes more, in the room, directly connected to the fans. The actors would react to the input from the fans to create the story on the fly.

Killcam: Live is a project currently operating on two fronts. On one hand, it's a film now shooting in the Los Angeles area. On the other hand, it is a bizarre interactive endeavor that is allowing horror fans to communicate with the film's characters and, apparently, influence the story's direction. Spearheaded by director John Darko - a producer on the short film Archetype - Killcam: Live stars Ben Begley, April Wade, Steven Martini, Sam Weller, Tracy Clifton and Derrick Oliver. According to Variety, the story "follows a group of students as they willingly agree to participate in a social experiment to explore the effects of dependence on technology and social media - with students isolated from each other and the only way to communicate via social media....

Live interactive horror project Killcam: Live has added over 1.1 million viewers to its rapidly growing "Killmunity." The project, directed by John Darko, debuted on October 31st and runs through the end of the year. Killcam: Live stars April Wade, Ben Begley, Tracy Clifton, Derrick Oliver, Sam Weller, Emily Dykes, Diahnna Nicole Baxter, Billy Towers, Mirai Booth-Ong, and Rolence Patugan. Killcam: Live is the brain child of Wade and filmmaker Canyon Prince. n Killcam: Live, viewers across the world interact directly with the characters in the ongoing storyline, changing the way audiences are interacting with entertainment programming. Audiences have already witnessed the (fictional) brutal killings of three of the story's main characters and one surprise death. Some viewers become characters in the story itself, and others participate in "Cill Contests" in which they rip footage from the live and narrative story into their own recap videos. The...

About a month ago we told you about April Wade and Canyon Prince's Killcam: Live, a hybrid web series/live action horror adventure that not only entertains audiences but invites them to become part of the action, to interact with the characters in the story, in real time, just as death is knocking on their door. Already almost a million viewers have become part of the growing "Killmunity".

Okay now, this is a good idea. All of us have sat in front of a movie and just hung our heads at the direction it took. Either some of the characters were too dopey or the story dragged, but we've all wished for an opportunity to grab a movie halfway through viewing it and change the outcome. Well, gorehounds, Killcam Live is going to give you that chance this Halloween.
Starting on October 31st viewers can go to KillcamLive.com and see the first video clips when they are uploaded. From there the audience will be able to interact with the characters from the film via Facebook and Twitter (@Killcam_Live). And according to filmmakers, the feedback from the audience will affect how the film plays out. Killcam Live will be released online in segments over the course of eight weeks.

Zombies Ate My Neighbors adaptation is in early development. Sounds familiar?
Well, of course, I’m sure you all remember this Super Nintendo game that was released back in 1993. And, just in case you’re wondering who will be responsible for this adaptation, we’re here to clear things out for you!
Filmmaker John Darko wants to get financing for the script he wrote based on the game. Apparently the film will be made independently, and, according to the latest reports from FirstShowing, the whole thing is described as “John Hughes meets Judd Apatow meets George A. Romero” or “a bit like Superbad + Zombieland + Home Alone.”
Confused so far?
Well, don’t look at me, I’m actually Mortal Kombat fan! But, let’s see what Wikipedia has to say about this game:
“The player chooses between two teenage characters, Zeke and Julie, or both in a two-player mode. They navigate suburban neighborhoods,...

When I was growing up in the 1990′s, I was addicted to Nintendo Power and the one of the games that stuck out in my head was Zombies Ate My Neighbors. Released in 1993, it was a run and gun game featuring two teenagers using squirt guns and other such wacky weaponry against the legions of the undead that had taken over their town (amongst other monsters like vampires and werewolves). When I finally got my hands on it for the Super Nintendo I ended up sucking so bad that I never picked it up again, but I still have fond memories of the game regardless.
Don’t worry, that slightly unnecessary story has a point; it turns out someone’s attempting to make it into a movie. First Showing reports that John Darko has written a script for the movie and is attempting to find financial backing to get it...

There was a time when if you loved zombies, you had to break out the old VHS tapes and “strain through the grain” while that beloved layer of analog “hiss” intertwined with a raspy groan for “Brains!”. Fortunately, I guess, zombies have become nauseatingly main stream and Hollywood has been scrambling for anything “living dead” like a sparkly vampire up a tree…wait, why do I get that reference?...
If you owned a Super Nintendo and let’s face it you did, I’m sure you’ll remember Zombies Ate My Neighbors. Yep, you guessed it, film adaptation! John Darko has “fleshed” out a screenplay and is in search for financiers as we speak. The word on the web is that things are looking good so hopefully we’ll be hearing a Lot more about this project in the near future.
As far as the story goes, little has been released.

The 1993 run and gun video game Zombies Ate My Neighbours is being adapted into a feature length film. The video game was originally developed, distributed, and produced by LucasArts as a comical tribute to both classic and horror films of the 1950s through the 1980s. Now, a screenplay has been written, and has been described as “John Hughes meets Judd Apatow meets George A. Romero.” The video game which has all the makings of cult horror/comedy, became a cult classic years after its release. First Showing reports that the film takes place in an American suburb, where two best friends amongst a sea of teenage angst, battle for safety against the mysterious uprising of neighbourhood zombies.

That's right gamers and zombie lovers Zombies Ate My Neighbors is in development. It's based on the Snes video game of the same name that originally hit in 1993. So far what we know is the film has a screenplay written by John Darko (no relation to Donny)and is currently looking for financiers.
The movie could be described as John Hughes meets Judd Apatow meets George A. Romero, or Superbad + Zombieland + Home Alone maybe? The movie is taking just a hint from the video game so it's primarily its own coming-of-age story bu rest assured Zeke and Julie from the game will be in it.
Darko is also producing the film with April Wade and Ahmed al Baker. Right now it's still considered an indie film while they work on securing the rights. They confirm everything is moving along smoothly. So who's all ready for another zombie comedy done right,...

“John Hughes meets Judd Apatow meets George A. Romero” hey? Okay, I'll bite - into your brains that is! Hahaha. So yeah, word on this Super Nintendo video game adaptation comes from our pal Alex at firstshowing. And on tweet-like-a-zombie-day no less.

It happened one typical night in suburbia; two best friends amongst a sea of teenage angst, battle for safety against the mysterious uprising of neighborhood zombies.
Zombies Ate My Neighbors is an independent production written by John Darko, and produced by Darko, April Wade and Ahmed al Baker. The film is still in the process of securing rights and finding a director and financiers, but we'll be following this one with all the interest of zombies lusting after human brains.

Ready for another zombie movie? How about another zombie comedy? Well, ready or not, here another one comes: A screenplay based on the cult classic video game Zombies Ate My Neighbors has been written, and now the film is starting to come together. It's being described as "John Hughes meets Judd Apatow meets George A. Romero", which sounds like an ultimate pairing of things-everyone-loves, assuming it can be done right. Loosely based on the early '90s Super Nintendo game, the film is a coming-of-age high school tale about two best friends -- Zeke and Julie -- who naturally find themselves contending with their zombie-turned neighbors. Learn more after the break. News of the film's development comes from First Showing [1]. Hmm, someone has read our 6 Horror Games We Want to See on the Big Screen breakdown. This sounds like it's a bit too early to report on - as the rights for the property are not even fully secured and the financing hasn't been locked in place - but filmmaker John Darko is trying to get an adaptation of the video game Zombies Ate My Neighbors! off of the ground. The title was made popular on the Sega Genesis and Super Nes systems. The thrust of the game is you run around killing, at first, zombies in suburbia until you move on, level to level, acquiring sundry weapons and taking on familiar horror monsters. First Showing broke the news about Darko's project, which is being co-produced by April Wade and Ahmed al Baker. The site says they're borrowing "a bit" from...

The amount of heart that goes into these independent features makes me wish I could say something better about Junction. The producers spend many meticulous moments charting every inch of the shoot. The production assistants do all that they’re told in hopes they can gel the old resume. The actors do their best on a budget and think that this film might launch their otherwise non-blossoming careers. The writer put their soul onto the pages of the script. The director spends hours planning every single shot of the film to make the final text look good enough for the indie circuits. And I spent 90 minutes wondering what all of these people were thinking.
Conjunction junction, what’s your function? I couldn’t get the grade school song out of my head. What was Junction’s function? There wasn’t one. The story was so hard and the characters so...

Taking a somber flight from Palm Springs to New York, I chose to kill time by watching some independent films that were sent to me by various filmmakers.
One of them was a film called "Junction" from Women on Top Productions. I refused to learn anything about this movie prior to watching it (I do that with other films, even major Hollywood movies if I can, so I'm not tainted), and all I knew was that the film's main actress, producer, and original screenwriter, April Wade, was such a sweetheart, and was lovingly patient with me for she sent this film eons ago and I just never had time to watch it.
Now I had time, and boy, was I pleasantly surprised!
"Junction" is equal parts intriguing, mesmerizing, and an edge-of-your-seat crowd pleaser!
An allegory to isolation and alienation, "Junction" starts with an explosive and bloody fight, and ends with rumination and redemption.

The dynamics of inter-family relationships can be as complicated as Stephen Hawking’s black hole theories or as annoying as an MTV-based reality show. Visiting certain relatives can sometimes be a Hanna-Barbera cartoon without a laugh track and wacky birds used as vacuums. Wilma is drunk again, hide the turtle dishwasher. Family time can be downright rough, especially during Thanksgiving, which in Neal Fradsham’s Junction, is all too applicable.
Wrought with psychosis, drugs and mommy issues, the story revolves around Michaela (April Wade), an aspiring photo-journalist complete with alcoholic mother (Cindy Hogan), her Bff goldfish Dorothy (yes, like a certain red furry monster in New York) and an ailing father in prison. But this isn’t Sesame Street, it’s a creepy mind-bender with tones of a classic psychological thriller. Haunting, Junction plays out like a Shakespearean play filled with family...

Do The Right Thing: 20th Anniversary Edition (Universal) Spike Lee’s groundbreaking fable about race relations in an ethnically mixed Brooklyn neighborhood during a sweltering New York summer remains as potent, timely and prescient as it was in 1989. Lee is among the cast, which also includes John Turturro, Danny Aiello, Samuel L. Criminally ignored by Oscar (it wasn't even nominated for Best Picture, but did garner nods for Supporting Actor Danny Aiello and Lee’s screenplay), it endures as a timeless classic. Also available on Blu-ray disc. Bonuses: Commentary by Lee, Ernest Dickerson, Wynn Thomas, Joie Lee; Documentary; Deleted and extended scenes; Featurettes. Widescreen. Dolby and DTS 5.1 surround.

One hell of a mind bend is Junction. Driven by an aching curiosity, aspiring photojournalist Michaela (April Wade) embarks on a tumultuous journey to locate two siblings that, until recent revelations, she was completely unaware of. Michaela manages to track her siblings down, but there’s a taboo secret that the trio are oblivious to, and as Michaela assembles this shattered picture frame, the photograph within takes to grotesque mutations that none of the three are prepared to confront.
April Wade clearly grasps the scope of this script (which she helped pen), but either out of modesty, or unawareness, seems to play down the intensity of the film. “We set out to make a movie that was about family, dysfunction and identity. The plot grew around these themes and, while in retrospect, there are many things I would have done differently, the original intention still remains. In essence, it is...

It’s not often I’ll review and Indy film, but then it isn’t often I’m contacted by a talented young Actress and Producer from America and air-mailed a copy of one of her own masterpieces.
April Wade (The Thing in The Corner, Creepshow III, Women on Top Productions) stars in and produces Junction, a thriller described as “Donny Darko” meets “Ghost World” and directed by Neal Fradsham.
Junction speaks to the Y-Generation who has survived the single-family phenomenon and the battle with an ever-growing feeling of medicated isolation. Silhouetted against a world of expanding globalization and shrinking personal human interaction, Michaela, searches for self-actualization - and her splintered family. Do you want to face the truth? Or, do you want to destroy it?
