Best known for playing Alice Cullen in the film adaptations of Stephenie Meyer’s Twilight novels, Ashley Greene’s casting was met with controversy among fans as she is 7 inches (18 cm) taller than her character, as described in the novel.

Response to Fan Expectations
In an interview with MTV in March 2008, Ashley addressed the criticism. “Uh, that’s the biggest complaint about me actually; I’m 5-foot-5. I’m much, much taller than Alice is described, but who is 4-foot-10 anyways?”
“Well, when I read the book, I could see that, and she’s the actress that Stephenie put on her site and said, ‘This is what I think she looks like in my head,’ so that’s natural that everyone else would have...

Jackson Rathbone, the actor who portrayed the role of Sokka in the 2010 film defended the criticism alongside Shyamalan which did not sit well with people. Dismissing the allegations of Whitewashing the cast, here’s what the Sokka actor had to say about the 2010 film.

Twilight director Catherine Hardwicke has some thoughts on who would be cast as the main characters if the film were to be rebooted today.
During an appearance on the Happy Sad Confused podcast to discuss the film 15 years after it originally came out, the filmmaker chimed in on who she’d want to play Edward Cullen and Bella Swan in a film today.
When asked if Jacob Elordi and Jenna Ortega would portray the two main characters, Hardwicke admitted, “Oh, that would be perfect,” she said, adding of Elordi, “I mean, he’s amazing. He probably would be Edward today.”
She explained that so many people come to mind when she thinks about who could be cast in the roles in the present day. Model Lewis Tan approached her recently and told her he went out for the role of Jacob Black, which eventually went to Taylor Lautner.

When filmmaker Catherine Hardwicke got the first draft of Twilight, she knew there was a problem. The script depicted Bella as a superstar athlete and ended with her in a chase with the FBI (on jet skis). “It had just gone out of control,” says Hardwicke. “I’m like, ‘No, no, no, that’s not what the book’s about. It’s about this incredible, impossible love and this yearning.”
Hardwicke wanted to ditch the script and get closer to the book by author Stephenie Meyer. Those instincts proved right. Fifteen years ago, on Nov. 21, 2008, Twilight became a surprise hit for low-key studio Summit Entertainment, grossing $408.4 million worldwide and instantly turning stars Kristen Stewart (Bella Swan) and Robert Pattinson (Edward Cullen) into global stars. It would spawn four sequels, with a TV reboot on the way.

Robert Pattinson needed a makeover to transform into Edward Cullen, according to “Twilight” director Catherine Hardwicke.
While appearing on the “Happy Sad Confused” podcast to mark the 15th anniversary of the beloved 2008 film, Hardwicke recalled how studio Summit Entertainment was skeptical Pattinson could “look good” as the heartthrob character.
“When he came over to my house, he had black bangs for hair and was kind of out of shape because he was hanging out at the pub all the time,” Hardwicke said of first auditioning Pattinson. “I sent it to Summit and he went over to meet them. They called me back and go, ‘Do you think you can make this guy look good?'”
Hardwicke continued, “I said, ‘Yeah, I do. Did you see his cheekbones? We’re doing a makeover on the hair and everything and he’s going to start working out and he’s going to be gorgeous.

Robert Pattinson is known as a heartthrob in Hollywood following his shot to stardom after starring in the Twilight saga. However, the film’s director Catherine Hardwicke is now revealing that the studio behind the franchise was not always Team Pattinson for the role of Edward and expressed concern over his looks during the casting process.
“When he came over to my house, he had black bangs for hair and was kind of out of shape because he was hanging out at the pub all the time,” Hardwicke said during an interview on the Watchalong podcast. “I thought ‘it works not just in person, but it works on screen.’ I had to be sure. Of course, in person, I just got carried away, but you have to be sure — does it really translate [to the screen]?”

What could go wrong when you send a group of elite soldiers skilled in warfare to an island in the middle of nowhere to extract a VIP? Well! Everything could go wrong, and Philippe Martinez’s 2023 action flick, Black Noise, explores such a scenario. A team of skilled soldiers took up a new task, thinking it would be a simple find-and-extract job. Little did they know the enemies they were going to face there would take more than just bullets to kill.
It all began with Ryan (Wayne Gordon) receiving a call from his superiors while he was enjoying his holiday in St. Martin with his team. His squad included Naomi (Ashton Leigh), Leila (Sadie Newman), Leo (Jackson Rathbone), and Jordan. Unfortunately, his superiors wanted Ryan to cancel his holiday and make preparations to extract a target of high value from an exclusive island. The island wasn’t for everyone.

Black Noise is the latest film to follow in the footsteps of Predator and takes a group of highly trained professional soldiers and sends them to a remote location on what should be a simple mission only for it to turn into a battle with something beyond their comprehension. Earlier this year Island Escape added a few twists to make it feel fresh, can Black Noise pull off the same feat?
A large man, uniformed and armed, flees through a Carribean rainforest. Whatever he’s running from must be dangerous, his uniform is torn and he’s battered, bloody, and panicked to the point of shooting at moving foliage. Reaching a house he sees a quad parked in the yard, just what he needs to escape. But...

The Island wastes no time in establishing just how evil its villain, Manuel is. As he’s talking to Nora, a singer auditioning at one of his properties, the waiter spills her drink on her. His response isn’t to fire the man but to stab him in the neck and tell the shocked woman, “Go get cleaned up, you work for me now.”
In Los Angeles Mark and his partner Phil are working undercover setting up a drug bust. This being an action film it naturally goes bad, but that’s not the worst thing Mark is going to have to deal with today. He gets a call telling him his brother has been murdered on the island where they grew up.

Seeking answers and ultimately vengeance, he soon finds himself in a bloody battle with the corrupt tycoon who's taken over the island paradise. In the film’s opening scenes a military transport flying over the Black Forest is attacked and brought down by crows who prove that a group of them isn’t called a murder for nothing. Major Johnson sends Sgt. Brewer and his...

Movies about WWII and the Nazi's creating some sort of supernatural entity/soldier/curse to help them win the war have become quite common over the past few years and while the staying power and quality of these varies wildly, once in a while one comes along that surpasses expectation. WarHunt is definitely one of those.
Written and directed by Mauro Borrelli, WarHunt stars Robert Knepper as Sergeant Brewer, a seasoned veteran who leads a group of soldiers into Germany's Black forest to secure the top-secret cargo that was lost when a US military cargo plane crashed. Among his soldiers is Walsh (Jackson Rathbone), a soldier with specialized training that will prove helpful to this particular mission.

During his 1980s and ’90s heyday as a frightfully prolific star of blood-and-thunder direct-to-video fare, Wings Hauser once aptly described his target audience as “the microwave-burrito guys at 2 a.m. with a beer in their hands” — and, presumably, a Vcr remote switch nearby. Nowadays, that audience can digitally stream their B-movies of choice. But while the favored cuisine of these undiscriminating customers might have changed, the cinematic product they consume remains pretty much the same, albeit enhanced by better production values and, with all due respect to Mr. Hauser, superior star power.
All of which brings us to “WarHunt,” a modestly diverting mashup of WWII actioner and horror thriller that would not have been out of place on a New Release shelf at Blockbuster not so terribly long ago. Wait, scratch that: It would have been a standout on the shelf, if only when compared to the many lesser titles stocked around it.

"I promise I'll get us all out of here!" Saban Films has debuted an official trailer for an action thriller horror feature titled WarHunt, from filmmaker Mauro Borrelli. This is arriving on VOD in January, taking that usual slot (earlier this year it was another WWII action thriller horror feature called Shadow in the Cloud). WarHunt has a similar vibe to Dog Soldiers or the more recent Overlord. A US military plane crash lands in the German forest during World War II. As the soldiers venture into the forest, they discover dead bodies with organs missing and mysterious signs. Soon they start to find some kind of demons out there. But what exactly is it?! The cast includes Mickey Rourke, Jackson Rathbone, Robert Knepper, Josh Burdett, Alex Mills, Fredrik Wagner, Matt Mella, Timo Willman, and Ben McKeown. Oh damn this actually looks pretty good! It leans into the supernatural a bit more than Overlord,...

"A mixtape is a message from the maker to the listener." That is indeed an accurate description. Netflix has debuted an official trailer for a nostalgic dramedy film titled Mixtape, the latest from filmmaker Valerie Weiss. As the world approaches Y2K, a quirky 12-year-old sets out on a journey to find songs on a mixtape made by her late parents. When a young girl accidentally destroys the mixtape that belonged to her mother, she sets out to track down each of the obscure songs on the cassette. The film stars Gemma Brooke Allen as Beverly, with Audrey Hsieh, Olga Petsa, Jackson Rathbone, plus Nick Thune and Julie Bowen. As cute as this looks, it's pretty much like hitting gold in the nostalgia mine - combining late 90s nostalgia with cassette-tape nostalgia all in one! There's also toppings of Napster nostalgia and vinyl nostalgia, too. It does look like ...

"What's the deal with the water?" Dark Star Pictures has released the first official trailer for The Wall of Mexico, which originally premiered at the SXSW Film Festival last year. From filmmakers Zachary Cotler & Magdalena Zyzak (Maya Dardel) comes an intriguing, strange film about a wealthy Mexican-American family and their water. Jackson Rathbone stars as a handyman who is hired by the Aristas, who are not well-liked by the townspeople - something to do with the mysterious water well Don guards at night. As the water level drops from possible theft, the family decide to build a massive wall. The film's cast includes Esai Morales, Marisol Sacramento, Carmela Zumbado, Alex Menses, and Xander Berkley. There's a lot of intense close-up shots in this trailer, which makes it all the more confusing to figure out what exactly is going on. Is it about water or about the daughters? Or is it about something else going on?...

The movie industry and its loyal fans have a lot to say about the planned use of a digitally resurrected James Dean performance.
Through the use of CGI technology, filmmakers are readying to return the iconic actor to the big screen — 64 years after his untimely death. Dean died at the age of 24 in 1955 when he was involved in a head-on collision in California while driving his Porsche.
For the upcoming Vietnam War era film Finding Jack, directors Anton Ernst and Tati Golykh secured the rights to Dean’s likeness from his family, casting him in a secondary role, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
