Black Mass star Juno Temple, Games of Thrones’ Lena Headey and Jobs’ Mark Kassen are to star in Crooks, the latest feature from rising star Mickey Keating.
Celluloid Dreams, the French film firm behind Steve Buscemi-fronted Lean On Pete, has teamed with Kassen’s Like Minded Entertainment and Monte Rosso Productions to co-finance the Las Vegas-set hustler drama.
The movie is set in sin city in 1968, where a pair of hustlers, Johnny, played by Kassen and Faye, played by Temple, rob the decaying Moonlight Casino. Fantastic Fest has announced that Robert Rodriguez‘s grindhouse sequel Machete Kills will open their 2013 film festival.
In Machete Kills, Danny Trejo returns as ex-Federale agent Machete, who is recruited by the President of the United States for a mission which would be impossible for any mortal man - he must take down a madman revolutionary and an eccentric billionaire arms dealer who has hatched a plan to spread war and anarchy across the planet.
This year’s Fantastic Fest runs from September 19-26, 2013. The movie opens on October 4th, and I'm sure it will be just as absurdly fun as the first movie.

Machete Kills was originally set for release on September 13th, but Open Road Films has now moved it to October. While no reason was provided for the release date change, the movie will now open on October 4th against Gravity, the Warner Bros. sci-fi film that stars George Clooney and Sandra Bullock. We believe the date change may have to do with the fact that Sin City: A Dame to Kill for was recently pulled from its October slot.

Robert Rodriguez’ Machete Kills is all but guaranteed to be one of the best action films of the year.
The 2010 original film, Machete, took north of $40m. at the box office, and pretty much instantly became something of a cult classic. When you partner Rodriguez with Danny Trejo, you expect nothing less.
Partnering up once more for the second instalment in the proposed trilogy, we’ve seen a handful of things from the film so far. A first official look at Trejo with Amber Heard. A first look at Alexa Vega. And our first character poster for Lady Gaga’s La Chameleón.
And now Open Road have officially announced that they’ll be releasing the film in the Us in September this year.

Not exactly a poster a nature conservation organization would approve of, but effective nonetheless. Check out Lady Gaga in Robert Rodriguez' Machete Kills poster as La Chameleon. The 20th Century Fox release directed by Robert Rodriguez, stars Danny Trejo, Amber Heard, Sofía Vergara, Mel Gibson, Alexa Vega, Charlie Sheen, Jessica Alba, Vanessa Hudgens, Michelle Rodriguez, Danny Trejo and Cuba Gooding Jr. among others. Although this has its own fan base, I wasn't a big fan of the first movie, even if they threw in Robert De Niro's name. Robert Rodriguez directs from the script by Kyle Ward from the characters created by Álvaro Rodríguez. Machete Kills is produced by Rick Schwartz, Sergei Bespalov, Aaron Kaufman, Iliana Nikolic and Rodriguez.
