Director Brad Bird and his co-writer Damon Lindelof take on a daring, ambitious science fiction project: chosen 'dreamers' are given glimpses of a gleaming Future City on the Horizon that exists in a parallel dimension of possibility. It's a chase film, a touchstone 'Sense of Wonder' epic and a wholly original visual extravaganza. The spacey gee-whiz thrills are linked to a worthy message, the rescue of a dying planet. When Dana Jung reviewed Tomorrowland here at We Are Movie Geeks, he wrote: “….The ideals that Walt Disney espoused, not only about vision and innovation, but about who we are as human beings on this planet, are alive and well in this mostly enjoyable summer action movie. I can only think that Walt would have approved!” Read all of Dana’s review Here

If you're in the mood for some Disney on blu-ray, then you're in luck, as the classic animated film Aladdin and their newest flick, Tomorrowland, are dropping on blu-ray for the first time on the same day. Come inside to learn more!
One of my favorite Disney animated movies is Aladdin, and it's lack of blu-ray edition is the source of great sorrow, leaving a blank spot on my shelf. Thankfully, Disney is finally fixing this problem, and bringing the film to blu-ray for the first time with a Diamond Edition on October 13, 2015:
Disney’s beloved masterpiece will make your heart race and your spirit soar. Experience the laughter, adventure and Academy Award®-winning music (1992: Best Music, Original Song, “A Whole New World,” Original Score) for the first time on Blu-ray and Digital HD. Does the future look bright for Tomorrowland? In the movie, an unlikely duo—jaded inventor Frank Walker (George Clooney) and optimistic teen Casey Newton (Britt Robertson)—work together to unearth the secrets of a mysterious place somewhere in time and space. Despite what little they've seen, Tomorrowland may not really as utopic as it seems. The PG-rated sci-fi adventure mystery movie also stars Raffey Cassidy as Athena, Kathryn Hahn as Ursula, Keegan-Michael Key as Hugo, Hugh Laurie as David Nix, Tim McGraw as Eddie Newton and Thomas Robinson as young Frank Walker. Brad Bird directed the film, and he co-wrote the screenplay with Damon Lindelof. "I think that it's an...

This may be the hardest review I've ever had to write. After all, I think Brad Bird is a certifiably great filmmaker. I have been a fan of his work as long as I've seen his name on things, starting with "Family Dog," the animated episode of "Amazing Stories." So of course, I walk into his films hoping to like them. The year it was released, "The Incredibles" was my pick as best film, and both "The Iron Giant" and "Ratatouille" have also found spots in my top ten lists at the end of the year. In fact, for years, one of the things I was proudest of in all of the work I've done writing about movies from the early days of Ain't It Cool News to right now involved "The Iron Giant." That film is beloved now, and deservedly so. There was a point, though, when it looked...

The middle of Spring actually means a new selection of summer blockbusters to look forward to, and with a ton of big-budget films slated to come out within the next few months and beyond, the summer of 2015 looks like one to remember.
From the new Mad Max (which is already on our end-of -year top ten list event though we haven’t yet seen it) to Avengers, Poltergeists, male strippers, talking teddy bears, and a reboot of the Jurassic Park franchise, this summer’s trips to the theaters will be jam-packed with sequels and new tales. From May 1st right through to the end of August, some of the movies on our list could wind up on year-end “best of” lists or even receive some Oscar talk by December.
Grab your calendar, because Wamg has a rundown of this summer’s films we’re most excited about, so check them out below!

Of all the trailers aired during last night's Super Bowl, there was one that stood apart, emphasizing the alluring power of mystery over more overtly showy moments. It was a spot that cast a spell over you, inviting you into its strange new world instead of trying to blow you back in your La-z-Boy with its sheer force of will. It was a spot for "Tomorrowland," a movie that has been shrouded in secrecy up until this point but is now, finally, being teased legitimately. Just know that if you'd rather stay in the dark for what the movie is about, then you should probably skip this piece -- just know that the final product is going to be absolutely spellbinding. We're sure of it.

As promised, Disney has unveiled a short and sweet new clip for Brad Bird’s upcoming sci-fi project Tomorrowland.
Retaining the majority of blink-and-you’ll-miss-them shots from last week’s sizzle reel, this new snippet offers a fresh look at the titular utopia, replete with dazzling sci-fi architecture and visuals. Starring Britt Robertson as Casey, the film will orbit around her own journey after she happens across the most peculiar pin, one which just so happens to be a conduit that transports her to Tomorrowland itself.
It’s a scenario that will see her cross paths with George Clooney’s Frank, a world weary inventor who knows a thing or two about the futuristic locale, and how the pair might be tasked with having to save it. Joining Robertson and Clooney for the adventure are House‘s Hugh Laurie as David Nix, Thomas Robinson, Tim McGraw, Keegan-Michael Key and Judy Greer.

Damon Lindelof, co-writer of Tomorrowland, brings with him an association to Jj Abrams, and Abrams’ so-called Mystery Box. As such, Tomorrowland has been produced under as much secrecy as Disney could manage. This only makes every trailer and glimpse of footage more exciting. This Super Bowl pretty much had me on the edge of my seat.
There’s a lot I know about Tomorrowland that isn’t anywhere in that trailer at all. Did you see any trace of humanoid robots, for example? But at the same time, some of that trailer sideswiped me entirely. I had no idea that rocket ship at the end was going to come into play – the business with the pin badge makes it look Tomorrowland is accessed through a kind of teleportation, not space travel, so I’m really not sure what’s going on there.

In preparation for the release of a fully-fledged commercial in tandem with Sunday’s Super Bowl event, and in keeping with Hollywood’s incessant trend of teasers for teasers, Disney has unveiled a brief clip for Brad Bird’s upcoming sci-fi adventure, Tomorrowland.
At a mere ten seconds in length, the footage doesn’t offer much to go on; still, it’s a tantalizing tease for Bird’s titular utopia, which is still shrouded in mystery for the most part. What we do know is that George Clooney will play the part of Frank, a jaded inventor who has amassed a peculiar amount of knowledge on Tomorrowland itself. So, when Britt Robertson’s Casey comes in possession of a strange pin, one which essentially acts as a conduit to another, wholly idyllic dimension, the two soon discover a shared interest in this alternate world.

I haven't been following Brad Bird's "Tomorrowland" too closely and I imagine that's how they want it. The air of mystery has been maintained throughout, but audiences at New York Comic-Con got a peek Thursday afternoon, and now so can you. Here's the official plot synopsis: Bound by a shared destiny, former boy-genius Frank (George Clooney), jaded by disillusionment, and Casey (Britt Robertson), a bright, optimistic teen bursting with scientific curiosity, embark on a danger-filled mission to unearth the secrets of an enigmatic place somewhere in time and space known only as "Tomorrowland." What they must do there changes the world — and them — forever. "Lost" co-creator Damon Lindelof, who hasn't exactly shined in features ("Prometheus," "Cowboys & Aliens") wrote the screenplay with Bird. The film also stars Hugh Laurie, David Nix, Raffey Cassidy, Tim McGraw, Judy Greer, Kathryn Hahn, Keegan-Michael Key and Thomas Robinson. This first taste gives you a...

One man who knows some of the answers is an exile of Tomorrowland, a grizzled former "boy genius" played by George Clooney. "Frank Walker is someone who knows how to get there, and it wouldn...

At the D23 Expo this weekend, Disney has revealed new logos for a bunch of its new projects, one of them is Tomorrowland, named for the futuristic section of Disneyland. I agree the Tomorrowland’s logo is perhaps the best, with its sunrise implications of a new dawn (below). A project shrouded in secrecy with many a clue dropped but not much in the way of concrete information is scheduled to reveal its secrets nationwide on December 12th, 2014. The film, which will star George Clooney as the grizzled inventor, Frank Walker and Hugh Laurie as the villain David Nix is said to be inspired by...

Brad Bird’s mysterious new project Tomorrowland is being kept so under wraps that when Disney boss Alan Horn presented his company’s future projects at CinemaCon on Wednesday, he only showed a title treatment and talked up how much he was enjoying having Bird, Damon Lindelof and George Clooney working on the film. Now we have one more small piece of the puzzle: Raffey Cassidy is joining the cast. All we know of the plot so far is that it involves a bitter inventor called Frank Walker (Clooney), who has been trying to right a wrong for years, and a mysterious robotic child (Cassidy) who has been around for decades and is, according to the Hollywood Reporter, a master of several fighting styles. Hugh Laurie is on to play the villain of the piece, David Nix.With Lindelof and Jeff Jensen writing the script, Bird is deep in pre-production...

A few more story details have been revealed for Brad Bird and Damon Lindelof's upcoming sci-fi film,Tomorrowland. They come from a recent casting announcement in which a young English actress by the name of Raffey Cassidy (Snow White and the Huntsman) has been cast as a robot child in the story. She will star alongside George Clooney as the lead and Hugh Laurie as the villain.
So without further ado here are the details that THR had to offer,
Cassidy will play a young girl robot who has been around for decades. Also a key factor: She knows several fighting styles. She has a previous relationship with Clooney’s character, a bitter inventor.
This basically confirms the plot that was previously leaked out, but at the same time clarifies and adds a few new details. I imagine we'll get to see this little robot girl kick some ass.

Brad Bird and Damon Lindelof's new Disney sci-fi film Tomorrowland is set to start shooting this August in Vancouver for five months. George Clooney (The Descendants) and Hugh Laurie (House) are already set to star in the secretive film project, and I'm excited to see what becomes of it.

There has been a ton of speculation about Damon Lindelof and Brad Bird's sci-fi collaboration "Tomorrowland" (named after a Disney theme world), formerly titled "1952." Plot comparisons to Steven Spielberg's "Close Encounters" had fans extremely excited, and then a fascinating article from entertainment journalist and Disney expert Jim Hill popped up that took the mysterious project in a slightly different direction.
Hill claimed the film, inspired by a box of Disney World memorabilia circa 1952, would be based on an unproduced television series that the U.S. government approached Walt with. The show would reveal to American audiences that those alien buggers they had been hearing about all over the news were real. A scoop on website HitFix, however, suggests yet another possibility — one that could be even stranger than the "UFOs are real" plotline. A leaked synopsis being used by a Hollywood agency to cast the 2014 film reads as follows:

1.) A lengthy report from HitFix details what Brad Bird's secretive Tomorrowland movie is apparently all about giving the following logline: A teenage girl, a genius middle-aged man (who was kicked out of Tomorrowland) and a pre-pubescent girl robot attempt to get to and unravel what happened to Tomorrowland, which exists in an alternative dimension, in order to save Earth. Mystery solved! Everyone go home! After much speculation and rumors of everything from UFOs, Star Wars sequels, and Walt Disney vs. aliens, we now know (probably) what Disney’s Tomorrowland is going to be about. Brace yourself: this is the description that has been going around to casting agencies, in full:
A teenage girl, a genius middle-aged man (who was kicked out of Tomorrowland) and a pre-pubescent girl robot attempt to get to and unravel what happened to Tomorrowland, which exists in an alternative dimension, in order to save Earth.
Wait. Hold the phone. A genius middle-aged man and a pre-pubescent girl robot? Alternative dimensions? Save the Earth? I cannot be the only one who thinks that that sounds incredibly, monumentally, astronomically … stupid.

There's a lot of great mystery and intrigue surrounding Brad Bird and Damon Lindelof's next feature film project Tomorrowland. I've been truly excited for this project, there's been a ton of speculation involving what the movie would be about. The only solid explanation that we've seen up until this point is that the story centers on aliens and that the movie will recapture the spirit of Steven Spielberg's classic movie, Close Encounters of the Third Kind, and that information isn't really solid now.
The movie isn't what you think it is, everything we've heard is so way off base it's ridiculous. Hitfix somehow got a hold on a description of the movie, and it sounds so much crazier and awesome than what you are imagining right at this moment. This bit of story information is the description that’s going around to talent agencies. Check it out...
