You’ve heard of weather or traffic causing delays, but what about bees?
Matchbox 20 discovered this the hard way on Thursday evening when a swarm of bees decided to make an appearance at their Casino Del Sol concert.
Reports from local news stations in Tucson, Arizona, say approximately a couple thousand bees swarmed the Ava Amphitheater prior to the show’s start at 8 p.m. Bee keepers arrived at the scene 30 minutes later to clear the flying insects out.

Jackson C. Frank’s “Blues Run the Game” serves as the emotional centerpiece of This Is Us, providing the thread running through William’s tragic tale. Making two appearances on the NBC hit series, we hear it first in a flashback as William meets Randall’s mother Laurel on a city bus, and again during his final days as he travels back to Memphis and reflects on his life as he knows it’s reaching its end. Though gut-wrenching, Frank’s tragic true story rivals any drama that Hollywood could ever hope to dream up.

As Counting Crows might say (would the characters on this show even know who Counting Crows are?), “don’t it always seem to go that you don’t know what you got ’til it’s gone?” We’re another week closer to the season finale of Scream, so it’s time for the gang to get busy killin’ or get busy dyin’. Unfortunately, our “heroes” aren’t killers, so it looks like we’re in for the latter rather than the former. On Thursday, the 4th Circuit Court of Appeals affirmed the dismissal of a long-lasting antitrust lawsuit against Live Nation. In 2009, It's My Party, Inc., which runs the famed outdoor venue Merriweather Post Pavilion in Maryland, sued the concert and promotion giant for allegedly wielding its national power to entice and coerce artists to appear only at local amphitheaters and other venues it owned and operated. Some of the artists who were allegedly coerced included the Counting Crows, the Goo Goo Dolls, Santana and Ashlee Simpson. Looking at the dispute, circuit judge J. It’s a familiar story: a blossoming up-and-coming indie director hits it big (well, relatively speaking, we are still chatting indie film here) with an original feature that demonstrates both talent and crossover appeal and is immediately locked down for a massive, sure-to-be-blockbuster and also-probably-a-franchise feature. (See Gareth Edwards and his Monsters, Jordan Vogt-Roberts and his Kings of Summer, Colin Trevorrow and his Safety Not Guaranteed, the list goes on and on.) At its heart, these are success stories — passionate directors who made it to the next (major) step based on the quality of work that probably took a considerable amount of time, money and grunt work. But there is a dark side. Okay, maybe “dark side” is taking it a bit too far, but the problem with immediately catapulting burgeoning directors into the upper echelon of directorial stardom is that it takes them out of the indie fray, meaning that we’re robbed of possible indie...

Critics and scholars often refer to young, accomplished Québécois filmmaker Xavier Dolan as the “enfant terrible” of French-Canadian cinema. This moniker is likely not because Dolan is breaking the rules and conventions of filmmaking though, because for the most part, he is not. Instead, it could be due to how his stories focus on actual enfant terribles, fussy and privileged kids going through issues of sexuality, identity and self-worth.
Dolan is far from the Godard of modern Québécois cinema, but more akin to Truffaut, full of freewheeling energy and insight and throttled by character rather than concept. Just 25 years old, the director is already making one good or interesting film a year and in 2014, he has just given us his most accomplished feature yet, Cannes favorite Mommy, which features the most terrible enfant in any film from recent memory.

When Diane Després (Anne Dorval) signs her name to have son Steve (Antoine-Olivier Pilon) released from a teenage care facility, she scrawls her nickname — “Die” — before dotting the I with a heart. That tiny touch speaks volumes about the crossroads between ominous and ostentatious that Xavier Dolan’s Mommy calls home. A borderline operatic melodrama that emphasizes the emotional states of Solondz-like misfits with Sirkian flair (and a needless near-future setting), it follows the Adhd-afflicted Steve back into Diane’s reluctant care. As a widow, she can hardly hold a job down without having to attend to his latest vulgar or violent outburst, and the schools won’t have him back. Enter Kyla (Suzanne Clément), a mousy neighbor with a bit of a stutter who can withstand Steve’s mood swings. In fact, by tolerating him, the newly empowered Kyla levels out the emotional extremes between mother and son, if only for a while. With...

The new album “Mechanical Bull” from Kings of Leon is sturdy, but hardly ever takes any chances. With the title such as it is, one would expect a more exciting ride, and yet the band keeps it safe and mid-tempo with this sixth full-length. Songs like sweetly melodic “Wait for Me” and the badass bassline from “Family Tree” get lost in the shuffle of over-mastered middlers. Kelly Rowland's break-up anthem, "Gone," is here.
Featuring Wiz Khalifa, "Gone" uses a sample from Joni Mitchell's "Big Yellow Taxi" (which you might also know from that Counting Crows / Vanessa Carlton cover) and finds Rowland disposing of an ex: "There's a million ways that I could tell you / but I think I would rather show you that it's over / and I won't be back no more." Later in the track, Rowland plugs Burger King while offering a withering kiss-off. ("Your dinner's waiting down the street / and you can have it your way.")
Rowland talked about the personal nature of her new album, "Talk a Good Game," with Rolling Stone.
"You know what? No, I really don't give a shit [about what exes think]," she said. "It's nothing like that. My mom would say, 'The truth shall set you free,' so no matter what truth that is, I think it's important to be honest about it.

Mystery solved.
Since its release in 1993, the Counting Crows hit "Mr. Jones" has left fans wondering about the identity of the song's namesake. Lead singer Adam Duritz revealed all during an interview with HuffPost Live on Thursday.
One long-running theory claimed the tune was about Duritz's penis, but the truth is much more safe for work. The enigmatic "Mr. Jones" is actually Marty Jones, a bassist and longtime friend of Duritz.
The singer told host Ricky Camilleri he was inspired to pen the song after he and Jones went out to a Los Angeles bar and spotted another musician romancing three women at once in the corner.
"We couldn't even manage to talk to girls," Duritz said. "We were just thinking if we were rock stars, it would be easier. I went home and wrote the song."

Looks like someone in the mayor's office has taken a page from the Lollapalooza playbook and snapped up the hip-yet-mainstream-friendly Grammy-winning trio fun. to headline the 2013 Taste of Chicago.
"The theme is 'fun' for this year’s 33rd Annual Taste of Chicago," according to a Monday release from the Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events.
The Brooklyn-based rockers — whose hit "We Are Young" was heard just about everywhere in 2012 — will open the first night of the fest on July 10 along with California's Delta Spirit ("Girls" fans, keep your eyes peeled for a Lena Dunnam sighting).
Despite posting $1.3 million in losses last year, the lineup is a good indication the Taste is willing to fight for survival, particularly if that means investing in acts that will truly draw a crowd.
In 2009, the bookings showed evidence of the fest's budget woes with hardly heat-seeking acts like the Barenaked Ladies, the Wallflowers and Counting Crows.

Counting Crows have announced their first UK tour in over four years. The band take last year's Underwater Sunshine (Or What We Did On Our Summer Vacation) on the road for five dates this April. "All I could say when I saw the plans for a UK/EU tour was, 'It's about time'," said frontman Adam Duritz. "It's hard to explain to fans why bands occasionally let so much time pass between visits." He added: "The truth is sometimes life just gets in the way and, before you know it, it's been a few
years. "Personally, I'm just glad we're going back. I have a lot of great memories of past tours. Remembering where we've been always gets me excited about where (more)...

As was also the case with the previous seven Fantastic Fests, I wish I had more time to see more films at Fantastic Fest 2012. That’s the bad part about having an all-consuming day job, it prohibits me from going totally hog wild at local film festivals. Sure, said job pays my mortgage, but I am really pissed off that it prohibited me from witnessing Joe Swanberg knocking out Devin Faraci at the Fantastic Debates. The previous night at the Chaos Reigns Karaoke Party, I did catch Swanberg perform Counting Crows’ “Mr. Jones” (which, I should note, is one of my least favorite songs of all time) which was followed closely by Swanberg’s boxing coach Ti West performance of The Proclaimers’ “I’m Gonna Be (500 Miles)” — though, I have got to say that the karaoke performance of the evening goes to Tim League‘s krautrock interpretation of Enya’s “Orinoco Flow.” Sadly...

30. Kirsten Dunst in Savage Garden's "I Knew I Loved You"
In New York, the "subway glance" is an art form that takes years to master. Too blasé and the other person doesn't notice; too blunt and your picture ends up on PervertsontheSubway.com. The key is to go subtle until one of you is about to exit the train, then lock eyes like you're about to draw on Clint Eastwood in some old western. They're out of your life forever anyway; might as well make it count.
29. Courteney Cox in Counting Crows' "A Long December"
You can only have so much sexual tension with clean-cut, short-haired preppies like Matthew Perry before wanting to go the dreadlocked musician hippie route. Unfortunately, as both the video and real life shows, Cox and head Crow Adam Duritz didn't work out and Cox returned to her WASPy television life. At least you tried,...

Men of the world, Jennifer Aniston is officially off of the market! In case you haven’t heard, Jennifer Anniston and Justin Theroux got engaged over the weekend – and we couldn’t be happier for the dazzling duo. "Justin Theroux had an amazing birthday Friday, receiving an extraordinary gift when his girlfriend, Jennifer Aniston, accepted his proposal of marriage," Theroux's rep said in a statement. While it’s been a long road on the 43-year-old's quest to find Mr. Right, we couldn’t help but pay homage to the many, many attractive men who have dated Jen! From her high profile relationships (ala Brad Pitt and John Mayer) to her not so well known exes like Counting Crows' front man Adam Duritz and "Sex and the City’s" Jason Lewis aka Smith Jerrod (who knew?) – we’ve got the entire list! And considering there's rumors that Brad and Angelina Jolie...

The Summer Games are sure to bring many celebrities to London from actors, artists and even U.S. First Lady Michelle Obama. But for the next few weeks, the real focus of the world will be on the thousands of Olympians representing their respective countries.
MTV News caught up with some of the U.S. athletes in New York City and asked them which artists get them pumped up before the big competition. Here’s what they said:
Music News
Arielle Martin, BMX Racing
Fact: During the summers, Arielle and her husband ride their twin Ducati Monsters.
Music: Motley Crue – "Kickstart My Heart." "We get time trial song every time we go on the track to qualify, individually, and that’s been mine for the last three years."
Betsey Armstong, Water Polo
Fact: She's the only player on the USA team...

What Are You Listening To? "The last place you think you'd meet a boyfriend is at Creamfields..." by Carrie Dennis Chuck, 30 What are you listening to, Chuck? I'm listening to In Rainbows, by Radiohead. Or, I was, but I just made a Genius list based on Barenaked Ladies. You got to Radiohead from Barenaked Ladies? No, I was listening to Radiohead and "15 Step" ended, and I was like, "Well, I don't use my Genius playlist enough," so I hit "What a Good Boy" by Barenaked Ladies. So it went from "What a Good Boy" to "Don't Ask Me Why" by Billy Joel, then "Kodachrome" by Paul Simon, "Goodnight Elizabeth" by the Counting Crows. I think as I walked into work this morning I was listening to "River" [...]...

Phillip Phillips and Jessica Sanchez

It's the final countdown. On Tuesday night (May 22), Phillip Phillips and Jessica Sanchez will face off for the season 11 crown, capping a roller-coaster ride filled with soaring highs — Sanchez's "I Will Always Love You," Joshua Ledet's "To Love Somebody," Skylar Laine's "Wind Beneath My Wings," that time Steven Tyler wore Roy Lichtenstein pants — and just as many crushing lows — Heejun Han's impromptu strip show, Colton Dixon's hair, Randy Jackson's collection of pins, etc. — with the majority, of course, falling somewhere in between. If anything, this season has given us more of the same: nothing more, nothing less.
Of course, through it all, our "American Idol" experts have stuck it out, providing us with their own, uh, unique insights and...

Joshua Ledet and Phillip Phillips on "American Idol"

The "American Idol" season 11 top three have a lot to prove as we head into Wednesday night's (May 16) second-to-last lap.
Likely winner Phillip Phillips has skated through virtually unscathed by pretty much doing a season-long homage to Dave Matthews, while Joshua Ledet has thrilled us with his gritty soul shouting but failed to show much personality along the way (unless you count that one week he wore a flower in his lapel). And Jessica Sanchez? Well, the 16-year-old definitely has powerful pipes and is a diva in the waiting, but she's still not quite ready for prime time.
All three will be tested this week when they have to sing three songs: a judges' choice, a tune...

Ability to play the acoustic guitar? Check. Long, flowing blond hair? Check. Canadian heritage? No, but we’d buy it, so…check. Heart-breaking tale of adoption that fueled her songwriting for decades? Not so much, but there are enough similarities between the two that we can see why Taylor Swift is rumored for the role of Joni Mitchell in an upcoming biopic. According to Variety, the Speak Now singer “has been linked to the Mitchell role for several months” in anticipation of the film version of Sheila Weller‘s book Girls Like Us. The movie would also feature singers Carole King and Carly Simon; Midnight In Paris actress Alison Pill is up for the role of King and, if we’re going by name alone, we would secretly love to see Carly Rae Jepson play Simon. What? They have the same bangs too! Oh please, like you wouldn’t see...

So after leaving long term label Geffen, releasing a wonderfully nostalgic live recording of their first album August and Everything After (on both audio and video formats), Counting Crows are finally back with something new. Well kinda. Underwater Sunshine (Or What We Did On Our Summer Vacation) is a covers album, largely of songs the band have done in their live shows and even more underwhelmingly a number of tracks that have been on B-sides or bonus tracks on their albums over the years. Anyway, I’m not going to dwell on the feeling that a covers album is always a signifier of a band on the brink of disappearing forever because I don’t want to think that of a band I’ve loved for a long while, so I’ll dive straight into the album instead.

Wilmer Valderrama makes Casanova look like The 40-Year-Old Virgin. Over the past decade or so, the suave Venezuelan-American has been linked to everyone from Jennifer Love Hewitt to Demi Lovato — at this point, he’s definitely better known as a prolific dater than as That ’70s Show’s goofy foreign-exchange student Fez. And according to a recently tweeted photo, it seems that Valderrama is currently Wilmering yet another gorgeous starlet: former Friday Night Lights actress — and Derek Jeter ex — Minka Kelly.

Let me state for the record that I grew up loving the music of the Blue Öyster Cult, partly because I was the right age and partly because their lead singer, Eric Bloom, is my uncle. Therefore, I am attuned to all things Boc and am amazed I missed the release of Roadie. Now out on home video from Magnolia Entertainment, the film is a small tale about love, life, and yes, rock and roll.
The Boc was among the premiere heavy metal bands of the 1970s, thwarted from super-stardom because New York City Am radio wouldn’t play their music so they peaked. They continue to tour and play around the world with Uncle Eric and guitar wizard Buck Dharma (Donald Roseser) fronting the group. Roadie features the sad life of Jimmy Testagross (Ron Eldard), who was living his boyhood dream of working with the band but now that they play only occasionally,...

The March 29 episode of "The Vampire Diaries" is called "A Murder of One." While we'd like to think they're just referencing one of our favorite Counting Crows songs with that title, this is "The Vampire Diaries," so... well, you know.
So who will the murdered character be? We can tell you it's not Damon, Elena, or Stefan (duh). To help you out, we'll also add Caroline, Tyler, Klaus, and Kol to the safe list. Jeremy's still in Denver, so we won't be burying him any time soon, either.
The episode sees the return of Finn, and we're hoping to get a little more insight into Klaus's creepy, lurky older brother. We'll also see a whole new side of the latest Mystic Falls arrival, Sage. As you can see from the photo below, the former boxer isn't so tough anymore!
In case you're wondering about those Damon/Rebekah pics, no... that's...

Pop-rock foursome The Fray from Denver, Colorado, burst onto the world scene with their chart-destroying hit How To Save a Life in 2005, and have been steadily plying their trade through their debut album of the same name followed by a self-titled album in 2009. 2012 marks the release of their third LP, Scars and Stories, which continues in the same vein as their previous albums, with a contrast between optimistic guitar tracks and downbeat piano ballads being prevalent throughout.
One thing Scars and Stories is not short on is melody. The hooks in opening track and lead single Heartbeat are infectious, and the chorus refrain will run laps around your head for days. It invokes comparisons to bands such as Counting Crows (who are an obvious influence), as well as UK counterparts like Coldplay and Keane. The radio potential of Heartbeat combined with second track The Fighter is enormous,...

Yeah, what did happen to the Counting Crows? I was thinking about that as I saw the movie "Gypsy Davy" at this year's Sundance Film Festival. The documentary film, in a tangent, reveals the origins of "a black-haired / flamenco dancer" and the father who plays guitar in the '90s hit "Mr. Jones." There's footage of the band's floppy-dreaded frontman Adam Duritz singing the song live and a reminder that Duritz and his bandmates had lives and other bands before Counting Crows. And they've seen some strange years after its inception. The rock act parted ways from Geffen in 2009, and...
