David Lowe(1913-1965)
- Producer
- Writer
- Director
David Lowe became one of the most important news and documentary
producers on network television in the late 1950s and early 1960s,
although he came to the field with limited news experience and no
documentary experience. He pestered CBS newsman Fred Friendly for a job
on "CBS Reports" until Friendly gave in. The first result was the
landmark "CBS Reports" documentary "Harvest of Shame" with Edward R.
Murrow. Lowe had also worked as executive director of NBC's National
Educational Project; as director of news and public affairs for the
Dumont Network; and as program consultant for the Granada Television
Network in Great Britain.
