As they say, the road to hell is paved with good intentions. The films on this list are not any different. They were well-intentioned films that disappointed in the end. Now that 2011 is over, we take look at the films that left a great deal to be desired.
Ra.One
The promotion and hype for this film began even before it went to the floor. Releasing in the wake of Endhiran, it was set to outdo everything and anything that has ever been done in Indian cinema. It was to be the Mughal-e-Azam of the 21st Century. Alas, it was not so.
The film had great potential and the storyline would have been credible but it failed in execution. Between the stereotypes, nostalgia and likeable but ultimately unremarkable music, Ra.One is like the kid who brings all his toys to the playground to impress everyone but in the end alienates people.

Superstar Shah Rukh Khan is as busy as ever, signing new projects and promoting home productions. In fact, he hasn’t been getting much sleep due to the intense work being put in on his pet project Ra.One. Thankfully, his other productions are being taken care of, such as how Roshan Abbas has held the reigns for Always Kabhi Kabhi. This most recent Srk production release is about high school kids, sending Srk back to his own school day memories. His schooling at St. Columba’s in Delhi was a very strict one, unlike the carefree filmi portrayals. “When I see Aryan and Suhana, I realize schools have become easier now. You couldn’t be a badmaash (truant) in my school.”
Shah Rukh has also signed on for Yash Chopra’s next directorial venture. The film will be a romance co-starring both Katrina Kaif – her first time opposite Srk – and Anushka Sharma.

The new film, Always Kabhi Kabhi by debut director, Roshan Abbas promises fresh faces and a youthful spirit. However, the publicity for the film, as of late, centers around its famous producer. In fact the trailer for the movie features King Khan prominently and introduces the characters through his narration. Perhaps intimidated by other big [...]

Life In A Day (12A)
(Kevin Macdonald, 2011, Us)
Compiled from amateur submissions of what people all over the world did on 24 July 2010, this documentary sets itself an almighty challenge. It's fashioned into some sort of narrative order, with recurring themes and music, and moments of emotion and illumination, which saves it from becoming a random global channel-surf. But you could say the subjective "direction" and homogenising technical treatment are at odds with the democratic intentions.
The Beaver (12A)
(Jodie Foster, 2011, Us) Mel Gibson, Jodie Foster, Anton Yelchin. 91 mins
Having crucified Jesus, Gibson now nails himself to the cross in a bizarre talk-to-the-hand family drama that feels more like the actor's own public therapy session.
Green Lantern (12A)
(Martin Campbell, 2011, Us) Ryan Reynolds, Blake Lively, Peter Sarsgaard. 114 mins

This year Bollywood is launching a legion of youngsters, both on and off screen, to cater to the growing youth of the country
Band Baaja Baaraat
India is home to a huge population of young and working people. Many industries have been trying to cash in on their growing purchasing power ? from mobile service companies to cola giants. And now Bollywood wants to claim its share of the wallet of India?s youth (16-35). With the thumping success of films like Band Baaja Baaraat and F.A.L.T.U, Bollywood is bending over backwards to woo this segment. This realm of cinema, with modest budgets, provides production studios with a chance to invest in newcomers, debutant directors and experimental ideas without the risk of burning their fingers.
