Exclusive: Lionsgate has acquired world rights to under-the-radar thriller Amber Alert, which will star Golden Globe nominee Hayden Panettiere (Scream VI). Golden Globe winner Tyler James Williams (Abbott Elementary) co-stars.
In Amber Alert, which is in post-production, an ordinary ride share becomes a high-stakes game of cat and mouse. The story will follow Jaq (Hayden Panettiere) who is eager to get to her first day at a new job, and her driver, Shane (Tyler James Williams), who is just trying to earn a little extra at his side hustle. An alert of a child abduction on their phones will change all that when they discover they are behind a car that matches the description of the kidnapper’s. Unable to let a possible child trafficker escape, they begin a pursuit that will put their own lives at risk.
Kerry Bellessa directs the film which is written by Kerry Bellessa and Joshua Oram.

Harry Connick Sr., longtime New Orleans district attorney and the father of singer and actor Harry Connick Jr., has died. He was 97. According to the Associated Press, Harry Sr. passed away peacefully at his home in New Orleans on Wednesday, January 24, with his son, Harry Jr., his daughter Suzanna, and his wife, Londa, by his side. Harry Sr. was born in Mobile, Alabama, on March 27, 1926, and moved with his family to New Orleans when he was two years old. He served in the U.S. Navy in the Pacific during World War II. He would later join the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, where he met his first wife, Anita Livingston, a skilled flute player who later became a lawyer and judge. The future Da married Anita, and the pair had two children together, Suzanna and Harry Jr. They also owned and ran two record stores in New Orleans while both pursuing law degrees.

Crooner Harry Connick Jr. waded through the water submerging much of New Orleans, Louisiana, to look at the damage caused by Hurricane Katrina to his father's home. His father, Harry Connick Sr., who served as district attorney of New Orleans for 29 years before retiring in 2003, was forced out of his home when Katrina ravaged the city at the end of last month. And the 37-year-old singer has found the damage to his father's home is not as bad as he'd feared. He says, "It looks like pop's house made it through. Everything looks like it's pretty dry." Connick Jr. was desperate to return to protect his family's house, adding, "I don't want to get looted by the one-eyed rogue crackhead out there."...
