Cult classic fighting games Bayonetta and Bayonetta 2 might be heading to the Nintendo Switch, as Platinum Games drops a hint on Twitter...
Bayonetta isn't what you'd call a household name, but the two games released so far in the series have built up a loyal and vocal fan following. Directed by Hideki Kamiya at PlatinumGames, and similar in style to Kamiya's own Devil May Cry series, Bayonetta was a wildly over-the-top hack-and-slash game marked out by its combos and bizarre boss designs.

The 2009 original, released for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC, was critically acclaimed but didn't quite get the sales it deserved; its 2012 sequel, meanwhile, was hamstrung from the outset by the Wii U's small user base.
There are renewed hopes, however, that Bayonetta will make a triumphant return...

Wasn't easy to whittle this list down to 10, let alone 11, so I picked 12 for 12-12-12. A few of these selections were last minute additions that knocked two other picks out of top spots. Moreover, I decided to include twelve more picks at the end of my selections to show what else was being considered.
Nada Surf The Stars Are Indifferent To Astronomy (Barsuk)
I've not seen this album on any critics' year-end lists (aside from my managing editor Steve's list, obviously). Not sure why, because Nada Surf released a timeless collection of alt pop-rock songs. This is songwriting 101 -- verse, chorus, verse, bridge. If there is a better pop-rock band in America, let me know. Twenty years in and no sign of lazy rock star bullshit, just plenty of great chiming guitar riffs and hooky-as-hell tunes. Album of the year.

While our managing editor Steve Holtje has done a bang-up job sharing phenomenal Jazz and Classical reviews, I thought I'd share some of my favorite new rock, pop, and soul picks for Summer 2012. It's time for BBQs and beach blanket bingo parties. Time to get your swag on, peoples.
"Radiator Sister" - The Mynabirds Generals (Saddle Creek) - Infectious, bubble-gum snappin' tunes abound on this sophomore long player from singer-songwriter Laura Burhenn. All aptly produced by Richard Swift, but for my limited ducats this iPod-friendly ditty is the bees-ness. Equal parts Bow Wow Wow and T.Rex, with its two-note piano hook.
"Among the Leaves" Sun Kil Moon Among the Leaves (Caldo Verde) - Mark Kozelek remains steadfast in his musical offerings; familiar turf, but still so damn compelling. Alt tunings, heartfelt ballads, and lyrical dexterity all remain firmly in place. The gentle tug of his band behind him keep...

The Premise: When Foster’s boyfriend is abducted, Cal must expose a secret from the DEA agent’s past in order to save his life.
The Personal: Emily learns she came this close to being a segment on the Maury show, Foster’s love-life losing streak continues, and Cal participates in the torture of his competition… for a good cause, of course.
The Resolution: Realizing the only way to release Burns from the psycho drug dealer/grieving son who kidnapped him is to aid the urban entrepreneur in the quest for his father’s killer, Cal offers his services. He gains drug dealer Little Moon’s confidence by confessing his motive for pulling a Mr. Blonde on Burns (he “fancies” Gillian) then immediately sets about pitting Moon against an underling.

This episode of Lie to Me (TV) is proof positive of one unalterable fact: if you want to date Gillian Foster (Kelli Williams), you have to get through Cal Lightman (Tim Roth) first. And plan on being spied upon, too. It's also a fact that the Callian (Gillian/Cal) ‘shipers were probably in heaven during this episode. Lightman's been suspicious of Foster's new boyfriend, David Burns (Max Martini) since they met. With good reason, since Burns is actually a DEA agent working undercover. Cal just "happens" to be hanging out in the diner that Foster and Burns frequent for breakfast, and Foster has him pegged straight off. He's there to pry. When Burns receives a call and leaves the diner, Lightman follows. He sees Burns talking to a woman, who is telling him to leave town fast. Back in the diner, when Foster tells him he can't help himself when...
