The Hills Have Eyes 2. No, not that one. That’s The Hills Have Eyes Part 2 and has one of the greatest things ever filmed where a dog, an actual dog, has a flashback and its just, muah, chef’s kiss. While I actually think that original 1985 sequel is way too much fun for its own good – it was written and directed by Craven, brings back Michael Berryman, has Harry Manfredini give us the score, and oh yeah, has a dog flashback. “90210 was way more interesting behind the scenes than it was in front of the camera,” Shenae Grimes Beech says in the surprisingly juicy Et Presents…9021Omg! The Cast Tells All special, now streaming on CW Seed.

It turns out the Iron Fist isn’t so immortal after all. Marvel and Netflix have announced that the maligned superhero drama, which courted a whitewashing controversy prior to airing and has received generally negative reviews throughout its run, has been canceled after two seasons.
Finn Jones played the title character, who also appeared in the crossover drama “Defenders” — a kind of small-screen “Avengers” that saw the Iron Fist team up Jessica Jones (Krysten Ritter), Daredevil (Charlie Cox), and Luke Cage (Mike Colter).
“‘Marvel’s Iron Fist’ will not return for a third season on Netflix,” Marvel and Netflix said in a statement. “Everyone at Marvel Television and Netflix is proud of the series and grateful for all of the hard work from our incredible cast, crew and showrunners. We’re thankful to the fans who have watched these two seasons, and for the partnership we’ve shared on this series.

Here’s the truth: It would have been really nice if at some point during Season 2 of “Marvel’s Iron Fist,” Danny Rand had fought a literal dragon. Yes, that’s ridiculous to imagine on a show set not in Westeros, but modern-day Manhattan, but hey, Danny talks about having fought a dragon to attain his powers. Why not show it?
That’s perhaps the most interesting question a critic might consider when faced with this season of television, largely because “Iron Fist” once again feels like it has opportunities it won’t take full advantage of, despite its privilege.
And the concept of privilege is invoked here in the most literal way: Danny Rand (played by Finn Jones), on screen, is a badass fighter, yet he’s been a punching bag since the first season premiered. There was very good reason for this: Not only was “Iron Fist” badly executed,...

“Iron Fist” Season 2 is here, arriving in what is now a fully formed shared TV universe with Marvel’s other Netflix shows. So let’s take a look at all the ways “Iron Fist” calls back to “Daredevil,” “Luke Cage,” “Jessica Jones” and “The Defenders.” Some spoilers here, obviously.
Season 2 calls back to the literally earth-shattering events of “The Defenders” a few times. Most notably to the biggest development in the Marvel Netflix TVverse so far: the apparent death of Daredevil when the Midland Circle building collapsed on him and Elektra.
Misty Knight (Simone Missick), one of the main characters from “Luke Cage,” also joined the main cast of “Iron Fist in season 2 — paying back appearances by Danny Rand (Finn Jones) and Colleen Wing (Jessica Henwick) in season 2 of “Luke Cage.”
Misty also refers back to the battle at Midland Circle in “Defenders,” which was where she lost her arm.

Your enjoyment of Marvel’s Iron Fist Season 2 will largely depend on what you saw and latched onto as the freshman run’s strong points.
If you are transfixed by Ward Meachum’s manpain, Season 2 will speak to you. And if Season 1 left you clamoring for more, more, more! of Davos, then get ready to buy a lottery ticket, because this Friday (when all 10 episodes release on Netflix) is your lucky day.
Lastly, if Marvel’s Luke Cage‘s own sophomore season got you irreversibly addicted to narratives pegged to New York gang wars and turf negotiations, well, prepare to get a huge,...

Even if you didn’t catch the first season of Marvel’s Iron Fist when it debuted last year, there’s a good chance you caught wind of its negative reception, or at the very least, its casting decisions. Plenty of fans and critics (myself included) were upset at Marvel and Netflix’s choice to forgo picking an Asian or Asian-American actor to play the lead character. Casting controversies aside, Iron Fist season 1 had a myriad of other problems to contend with. Unfortunately, none of them have been fixed for its sophomore season.
Similar to the both Jessica Jones and Luke Cage, Iron Fist season 2 picks up after the events of The Defenders. While his crime-fighting allies have left the events of Midland Circle in their rear-view mirrors, Danny Rand (Finn Jones) has taken it upon himself to bring justice to the streets of Chinatown,...

With Marvel and Netflix now ready to begin the one-week countdown until Iron Fist season 2, a bevy of HD action shots has emerged online by way of Cbm.
Featuring the likes of Typhoid Mary (Alice Eve), the Daughters of the Dragon and Danny Rand as the Immortal Iron Fist, this is arguably our best look yet at the upcoming installment, as it shines a light on the new enemies Danny must face if he’s to honor the promise he made to the Devil of Hell’s Kitchen during the dying moments of The Defenders – that is, to defend New York in a world without Daredevil.
Doing so will purportedly involve a clash with Sacha Dhawan’s Davos and Mika Prada, a mysterious new power player to be portrayed by Homeland alum Julee Cerda. They’ve seemingly got into bed with Joy Meachum (Jessica Stroup), a figure from Danny’s...

On the face of it, it appears Iron Fist season 2 is very much about Danny Rand encountering old friends and new foes.
Take this update from Netflix’s Instagram account as an example. Whereas before we’ve seen blistering TV spots and hyper-stylized promos for the show’s second season, today’s status report brings us closer to Alice Eve’s Typhoid Mary before raising a very pertinent point: “You never really know someone until you see both sides.”
It couldn’t be more apt for a TV franchise that deals with alter-egos on a regular basis – think Daredevil/Matt Murdock and The Punisher/Frank Castle – and with the Man Without Fear ostensibly out of the picture, it’s up to Finn Jones’ superpowered hero to protect the streets of Hell’s Kitchen (and Harlem!) from harm. And so we’ve come to Danny. While we wait for the last of the central quartet to get their post-“Defenders” standalone season (“Daredevil” Season 3 should be on its way later this year), Mr. Rand is about to get his time in the Marvel spotlight with the sophomore season of “Iron Fist.”

One of the biggest weaknesses regarding the way Marvel is handling Iron Fist is the fight sequences. Iron Fist is supposed to be a badass martial artist, so the fight sequences should have been a highlight of the show! But I have yet to see a fight scene involving the character that wows me. Everything I've seen up to this point has been pretty mediocre and it shouldn't be mediocre!
While speaking with Entertainment Weekly, actor Finn Jones talked about the fight sequences in Iron First Season 2 and says that the majority of the fights were performed with minimal use of stunt doubles. So the actors did most of the fight work:
"The majority of fights this season, if not all of them, are performed by all of the actors in the show this season and the doubles were used pretty minimally. It was awesome, I had such a great...

“Iron Fist” didn’t exactly endear itself to critics, but such is the mystical superhero’s immortal power that the show will return for a second season. The Marvel series’ first go-round wasn’t especially well received — IndieWire’s Liz Shannon Miller wrote that it “feels incredibly inessential, even boring at times” in her review — but the character’s self-seriousness was toned down somewhat during his appearances in “The Defenders” and season two of “Luke Cage.” Watch the trailer for his next solo outing below.
Per a detailed synopsis, season two will follow its hero “as he fights against the criminal element corrupting New York City with his kung-fu mastery and ability to summon the awesome power of the fiery Iron Fist.” It’s our understanding that he might even wear a yellow-and-green suit this time.

Against all the odds, Marvel fans are actually excited for Iron Fist season 2. Thanks to a soft reboot of the character in Luke Cage‘s second season, the hype for the sophomore run of the muddled Netflix series has risen and what we’ve learned about it at San Diego Comic-Con has only added to that. The trailer promised a much sturdier, streetwise affair that hopefully won’t repeat the mistakes of season 1.
Following on from the show’s Sdcc panel, some intriguing new stills from the upcoming season have now surfaced online (via DNAIndia), which tease the return of multiple familiar characters as well as the addition of a new villain.
As you can see below, two of the pics feature Danny Rand (Finn Jones) doing what he does best: taking to the streets of New York to fight crime and stop the bad guys. One, in particular, actually...

In today’s roundup, Netflix sets the premiere date for the second season of Marvel’s “Iron Fist,” and Disney Channel casts Don Cheadle as a guest star in “DuckTales.”
Casting
Disney Channel has tapped Don Cheadle to guest star in the season finale of “DuckTales.” The animated comedy follows the mischievous misadventures of Donald Duck’s nephews, Huey, Dewey, and Louie, and Cheadle will take over Donald’s voice, which a voicebox has rendered unrecognizable, for the final episode, which airs Aug. 17. Other famous voices slated to make guest appearances in the finale include Lin Manuel-Miranda, Catherine Tate, and Kimiko Glenn.
Tim Kang has joined the cast of CBS‘ “Magnum P.I.” Kang will portray Detective Gordon Katsumoto in the crime series that follows an ex-Navy Seal (Jay Hernandez) who retires from the armed forces and becomes a private investigator based in Hawaii. Katsumoto sees Thomas Magnum as a rival,...

She doesn’t really look it in the picture above but Jessica Stroup is in her early thirties and still looks great. She’s one of those names you might not have heard a lot about simply because of the number of actors that are out there and because of personal preference in what you watch. But she has been in a few noteworthy productions that bear watching. Her roles usually seem to see her as someone in some kind of authority but with a tenuous quality to them that means that the character could be unseated somehow if they weren’t careful.

The problem with “Iron Fist” can be identified right from the very first moments — specifically in how its opening credits sequence compares to the other series in the Netflix/Marvel universe. “Daredevil’s” eerie viscous drippings reveal the various conflicting forces in Matt Murdock’s life — justice versus action. “Jessica Jones” is a moody stroll through Jessica’s New York, haunted by her demons. And the landmarks of Harlem ripple across “Luke Cage’s” body as he delivers a hell of a punch.
Here’s what happens in the “Iron Fist” opening sequence: A dude does kung fu. It’s mystical kung fu, clearly, and he starts off doing the kung fu in a forested area before eventually ending up in a city. But it’s a dude doing kung fu. And over the course of Season 1, that ends up feeling like all the show has to say.

All 13 episodes of Marvel’s Iron Fist hit Netflix early Friday morning — but if you’ve kept an eye on early reviews, you already know the comic-book drama isn’t exactly packing a punch.
Rather, it’s become a punching bag for TV critics everywhere.
Currently sitting at 19 percent on Rotten Tomatoes’ Tomatometer, Netflix’s latest Marvel series has been described as “rote and uninspired,” “a paint-by-numbers project” and “shockingly underwhelming.” That’s tough criticism by any standard, but it’s especially disappointing on the heels of three consecutive Marvel wins for the streaming service: Daredevil, Jessica Jones and Luke Cage.

A young boy loses his wealthy parents, receives spiritual guidance and martial-arts training in the Far East, then returns home to right various wrongs and restore order in the big city – it’s a familiar superhero origin-story narrative. Very, very few comic-book adaptations would introduce their main character, however, wandering barefoot and disheveled in the streets of midtown Manhattan, Walkman blazing (listening to, of all things, OutKast's "So Fresh, So Clean") with a semi-stoned grin on his face, looking like he just stepped away from a drum circle in a Phish pre-show parking lot.

March 17th has been a day long anticipated by Marvelites the world over, as it heralds the arrival of the fourth and final Defender: Danny Rand (Aka Iron Fist).

Further afield, the re-modeled Avengers Tower casts a shadow over the Big Apple, which should really be totally vacant, providing Iron Fist stays true to McU continuity. Let...
