A few months ago, we heard that The CW had picked up the U.S. rights to the TV series adaptation of author Frank Schätzing’s apocalyptic sci-fi novel The Swarm (you can pick up a copy at This Link). Now Deadline has revealed that The Swarm is set to begin airing on The CW at 9 p.m. Et/Pt on Tuesday, September 12th. A trailer for the show can be seen in the embed above.

In 2006, Uma Thurman and producers Michael Souvignier, Ica Souvignier, and Till Grönemeyer acquired the film rights, with The Silence of the Lambs screenwriter Ted Tally handling the adaptation and Dino De Laurentiis on board to help finance the film. The Swarm is now streaming on multiple services around the world – and Deadline reports that The CW has picked up the U.

Steve Guttenberg will play a father whose son has disappeared in The Well, directed by Stephen Manuel.
Aislinn Sands and Dominic Rickhards also star in the film, about an estranged couple who while in the middle of a divorce face further anguish when their son turns up missing and becomes the center of a desperate rescue effort.
Sabine Leipert and Julia Neumann penned the original screenplay. Michael and Ica Souvignier along with Rolant Hergert are producing through Germany's Zeitsprung Entertainment GmbH. Filming is set to begin this week in Berlin.
Guttenberg recently wrapped Warner Bros.' Major Movie Star with Jessica Simpson. He is repped by Binder & Associates.

Kill Bill star Uma Thurman has nabbed the film rights to Frank Schaetzing's best-selling novel The Swarm, according to a report from the Associated Press. Thurman will produce the eco-thriller about the delicate interconnectedness between man and the planet with German producing partners Ica Souvignier and Michael Souvignier. The film will shoot in several international locations, but no word yet if Thurman will appear in the project.
