- Luis Cernuda was born on September 21, 1902 in Seville, Andalucía, Spain. He was a writer, known for Lo que cuento al viento (2008), Argeles (1978) and Preámbulo a un silencio (1986). He died on November 5, 1963 in Mexico City, Mexico.
- One of Spain's most noted poets, he fled the country when the fascist forces of Gen. Francisco Franco overthrew the elected government in 1937. He moved to England at first, then settled in Mexico.
