There is one thing to be said for Seneca — On the Creation of Earthquakes, which has its world premiere in Berlin this week. It may be the first major film set in ancient Rome in a couple of decades. But those who are hoping for a vivid adventure like Gladiator or Spartacus or even a campy hoot like Quo Vadis will be sorely disappointed by this bizarre effort to create a historical fantasia. John Malkovich has a rare starring role and acquits himself solidly enough. But it is harder to understand what motivated director Robert Schwentke, who has some successful films to his credit (The Time Traveler’s Wife, Red, the Divergent series) but adds no luster to his resume with this head-scratcher.
Schwentke was born in Germany but has made most of his films in Hollywood. This German-financed effort was filmed primarily in Morocco and showcases a cast from all over the world,...

After revealing a whack of character posters earlier this week for their upcoming adaptation of The Last of Us, HBO has unleashed the big one with the official trailer. Set to a-ha’s “Take On Me” (seriously), the new trailer sports almost entirely new footage, as well as recreating some iconic scenes from the first game.
Co-written and executive produced by Chernobyl creator Craig Mazin and Naughty Dog vice president Neil Druckmann, the series will cover the events of the first game, twenty years after modern civilization has been destroyed due to the Cordyceps infection. Joel, a hardened survivor, is hired to smuggle Ellie, a 14-year-old girl who holds the cure for the infection, out of an oppressive quarantine zone. What starts as a small job soon becomes a brutal, heartbreaking journey, as they both must traverse across the US and depend on each other for survival.

Where is Padma?
It was the lingering question by the end of The Resident Season 6 Episode 9 when Aj returned home with the twins to an empty apartment in disarray and his babies' mother gone.
The hour also saw Bell deciding to leave again after the stress from Betz's attacks caused his Ms to flare-up.
For the most part, the hour was an underwhelming, mediocre installment that didn't leave much of an impression. Frankly, even while typing this, I've forgotten most of what transpired throughout it.
They keep picking up and randomly dropping continuity with storylines and threads to them, so we got a follow-up on Bell with the Betz situation this time. Then they revisited Padma's post-partum depression again, albeit briefly.
But we have no idea what's happening with the Sullivans, where things lie with Billie and Conrad, whether or not she's still seeing this new doctor, and whatever...
