Never mind the upcoming mega movie events of the summer! It's time to make you aware of an all new event whose combined budget probably wouldn't even be Man of Steel's craft services budget. Wolverine's maybe, but definitely not Man of Steel.
From the Press Release
In the 1950s and 1960s, drive-ins began to spread like wildfire, increasing to more than 4,000 locations. The new sites may have begun as a venue to watch films, but interestingly, the main films that were shown were mostly considered to be B films. Patrons enjoyed them regardless and remained enthralled with what they saw – so much so that the drive-in became a part of American culture where people came together to socialize with each other. It was an experience all of its own making and is considered an important part of Americana.
Today there are fewer than 400 drive-ins currently in operation across the United States.

At the age of 19, Zach Galligan starred in a horror film, Joe Dante's Gremlins. Since then, he's been in tons more horror and sci fi, including Gremlins 2 and both Waxwork films. This week, Horror Yearbook got an opportunity to chat with Zach Galligan about some of his recent work. Six years ago, Galligan acted in a film called Nightbeasts, a creature-feature from writer and director Wes Sullivan. The film has been in post production since then, and is finally premiering next month as part of the Arpa film festival in Los Angeles.* Galligan plays Charles Thomas, a down on his luck businessman whose lighting company has failed. He goes bankrupt, loses his wife, and is beginning to lose touch with his son. So, Charles takes his son on a retreat in the woods. What's in the woods? Sasquatches.

Tucson and Phoenix: Prepare to be rocked, shocked and defiled. Blasting its way into its third — and biggest — year on Sept. 18-25, the Arizona Underground Film Festival is a cacophonous concoction of angry transsexuals, bumbling hit men, slacker superheroes, living dolls, aliens, dead hookers, adventure-seeking blondes and other crazies.
This year the fest is screening 30 feature films, some of which are making their U.S. and even world debuts. The opening night film is the U.S. premiere of the German hit man comedy Snowman’s Land, directed by Tomasz Thomson, while closing the fest is the controversial and violent A Serbian Film by Srdjan Spasojevic, which you have to be over-18 to get into.
Don’t worry, there’s plenty of homebrewed films as well, such as Dead Hooker in a Trunk by Jen Soska & Sylvia Soska; Nude Nuns With Big Guns by Joseph Guzman; 1,001 Ways to Enjoy the...

Movies about bigfoot — or sasquatch, if you’re nasty — are a tough sell these days. Nobody has been able to top Ryan Schifrin’s thoroughly enjoyable romp “Abominable” since its release over four years ago, and those who tried were, shall we say, less than successful in their endeavors. Writer/director Wes Sullivan’s “Nightbeasts” is yet another contender for the “Best Bigfoot Movie of All Time” award, a film that comes pre-packaged with genre veteran Zach Galligan. I’m not saying that Galligan’s presence somehow strengths the film’s chances of winning me over, but it certainly doesn’t hurt matters any. What’s more, the picture features my personal Lord and Savior Lloyd Kaufman as a park ranger. Color me very interested. Check out the trailer below if you think you can handle the unbridled awesomeness. Thanks to Horror-Movies.ca for providing the trailer.

Most commonly known amongst the public for his role as Billy in the legendary Gremlins movies, actor Zach Galligan has led an exciting and varied career both within and outside of our genre. On the eve of the premiere of his newest film, psycho horror/thriller Cut, Zach spoke with our own Gareth Jones about the film, its gimmick, and what he’ll be up to next.
DC: Can you give us an overview of the plot of Cut and your character’s involvement?
Zach : It’s basically about five people who are spending a weekend in a country estate and they simply come under attack by forces they don’t understand, for reasons they can’t comprehend; and...it’s just basically a "five people in a house in the middle of nowhere" scary horror thriller. I mean, we’ve seen this film before, but I don’t...
