The Young and the Restless tallied 23 nominations as honors were announced this morning for the 40th annual Daytime Emmy Awards. Restless’ impressive take helped CBS lead all networks with 50 overall nominations. PBS and ABC followed, with 44 and 38 nods, respectively.
General Hospital, which earned 19 nominations, joined Restless in the race for Outstanding Drama Series, and Sesame Street received 17 nods, including three for Kevin Clash, the voice of Elmo who faces allegations of sexual misconduct.
Good Morning America and Today will bring their ratings rivalry to the Emmys, where they’ll be joined by CBS Sunday Morning in the Outstanding Morning Program category.

MTV has ordered a pair of post-"Jackass" extreme-stunt reality series, each with a format that's been previously tested.
In "Dudesons in America," four Finnish stuntmen and pranksters whose exploits are well known in Europe will attempt to do "even stupider stunts and pranks" than they performed back home. "Jackass" star Johnny Knoxville is on the executive producing team.
"The Dudesons have balls where there should be brains, and I am honored to be doing a show with them," Knoxville said.
The second series is "MTV's Parkour Challenge," which aired as a one-hour special in October. Parkour is a foot race through a cluttered urban environment where racers scale obstacles.
"There is so much competition for the eyes and attention of young guys these days that we really have to over-deliver and create can't miss, event television for them," said Tony Disanto, president of programming for MTV. "These two shows...

MTV is doing a slasher movie.
With the network ramping up scripted efforts and teen horror continuing to perform well at the boxoffice, MTV has commissioned its first stab at the popular genre.
In "My Super Psycho Sweet 16," a privileged teen's birthday bash at a roller rink is interrupted by a serial killer. The title and concept plays off the network's reality hit "My Super Sweet 16," which chronicles the lavish birthday parties of pampered kids.
"Horror is a genre that's really popular in our audience, so this is a great opportunity to play in that space," MTV senior vp production Chris Linn said.
The movie, executive produced by Maggie Malina, already has been shot and is "pretty graphic," Linn said. The network plans to release an uncut, download-to-own version in addition to the edited telecast.
"Psycho Sweet 16" is among a trio of films the network is working on that have ties to current series.
