First Lady of California Maria Shriver is known for her activism. Now she's releasing a study that shows, for the first time, American women really are bringing home the bacon.
The comprehensive national study, called The Shriver Report: A Woman's Nation Changes Everything, is set for release October 16. In a preview, the findings are astonishing. The report says, "For the first time in our nation's history, one-half of all U.S. workers are women, and mothers are the primary breadwinners or co-breadwinners in two-thirds of American families."
According to a post on this year's Women's Conference website, this report focused on how "women can turn their pivotal role as wage-earners, as consumers, as bosses, as opinion-shapers, as co-equal partners in whatever we do into a potent force for change," adding "economic power gives women a new seat at the table -- at the head of the table."
