Bernd was born at the Willem Alexander Hospital in Hertogenbosch. He was the first
and only son of Will and Daniëlla Lautenslager - van Tuil and had two
older sisters Virginie and Bianca.
He comes from a car garage family and he learned for car mechanic. And in September 1997 at the age of 19 he moved to Heerlen. There he studied even further for car mechanic and graduated in July 2000. Later that year he was hired as a freelancer web designer in Heerlen and Roosendaal. In 2003 he worked once more as a car mechanic for the US army in Eygelshoven, repairing Hummers returning from Iraq and Afghanistan.
Because he always was interested in movies, specially Stephen King movies, he started in November 2003 the website Stephen King Short Movies because he had learned that some titles weren't available on DVD and he want it to share it with everyone in the world. The so called Dollar Babies. He has the largest private collection of the Dollar Babies.
In 2004 he met Dollar Baby director James Renner (All that You Love Will Be Carried Away) and together they organized the first Dollar Baby Film Festival at the D. P. Corbett Business Theater at the University of Maine, Orono. Where Stephen King wrote for The Maine Campus newspaper between 1966-1970. In September 2005 there was a second festival at the same location. Both two times Bernd wasn't at the festival.
In 2005 he wrote Stephen King's office to obtaining Dollar Baby rights for the story "The Other Side of the Fog". This was rejected. In 2010 he try it again and this time with success.
