Born in Kerala, India in 1969, Ligy J. Pullapally spent her formative years in Chicago, where she wrote the school play Fractured Furniture, studied and practiced law, and was vice president of the Indian American Bar Association .She also served on the executive board of a social service agency and received the National Sunshine Peace award for her work on women's issues.After making two short films in the US, she returned to her native land to make a ground breaking feature on lesbianism.
