Hollywood typically casts 20-something actors as teens, primarily due to labor laws. The Vampire Diaries was no different, with most of the cast members in their early to mid-20s when the teen drama began. By the time Tvd ended after eight seasons, its actors had aged. Ian Somerhalder was one of the oldest on the show, so how old was he while on The Vampire Diaries?

Claire Holt, who played Rebekah on The Vampire Diaries and The Originals is set to appear in a new episode of Legacies next month.
According to TV Line, the episode will find Rebekah trying to get through to Hope after tracking her down.
“Hope is tracked down by the one person who could help her — Rebekah Mikaelson,” reads the episode’s official synopsis.
“Rebekah is fearful of what path Hope has chosen but makes every effort to get through to her."
"Josie and Lizzie hold out hope in a seemingly dire situation as Mg figures out what he can do to help. Meanwhile, Kaleb wants to set things right and turns to Cleo for guidance."

Having already spent years stuck in development hell, The Flash should be used to a setback or two by now, which is just as well given that the Scarlet Speedster’s long-awaited solo movie was pushed back again to November 2022 after Warner Bros.’ decision to move Dune to next year caused the studio to reshuffle their release schedule once more, just when the project was starting to gather some serious momentum.
Andy Muschietti is the fourth incumbent of the director’s chair, and he’s already got The Flash much further along the development process than any of his predecessors, generating massive buzz in the process by securing two huge casting coups and revealing that both Michael Keaton and Ben Affleck would be returning to play Batman as the Dceu dives headfirst into the multiverse.

With the Zack Snyder era firmly in their rear-view mirror, DC and Warner Bros. are keen to plow ahead with their new direction for the Dceu. There’s been constant speculation that when The Flash eventually gets made it will use the Flashpoint storyline to wipe the majority of Snyder’s output from continuity, but even after spending years in development hell, the Scarlet Speedster’s solo outing is still surrounded by huge question marks thanks to star Ezra Miller’s recent antics.
There’s been that many potential projects rumored to be part of the Dceu over the last few years that it becomes difficult to keep track of them, but as far as we know, a Nightwing movie is still in the pipeline. The Dark Knight Rises concluded Christopher Nolan’s Batman trilogy on a bold note, with Bruce Wayne finding a happy ending with Selina Kyle and moving away from Gotham. In his stead, orphan cop John Blake was shown to have discovered the Batcave, which told us he was an adaptation of Robin and would go on to protect the city as Nightwing.
After Rises first came out, there was a lot of talk about how much everyone wanted to see Joseph Gordon-Levitt lead a spinoff movie about Blake’s exploits, but Nolan’s wish to keep his trilogy self-contained and Warner Bros.’ desire to create a wide-ranging shared universe – the Dceu – put paid to that idea. In some other universe out there, though, a Nightwing movie actually happened and the above fan-made trailer from YouTube channel Smasher gives us as a taste of what it would’ve been like.

Ian Somerhalder is set to star on Netflix's upcoming vampire drama, V Wars, but he's not entirely against returning to his Vampire Diaries roots. During an interview with Entertainment Tonight, the 40-year-old actor toyed with the idea of appearing on Tvd spinoff, Legacies.
While he wouldn't want to reprise his role as vampire-turned-human, Damon Salvatore, he would definitely love to direct an episode. "I actually would love to talk to Jules [The Vampire Diaries creator Julie Plec]. I would love to go and direct one of [the Legacies episodes]," Somerhalder said. "Because I know Paul [Wesley] went to do it, and he called me, and he's like, 'Bro, this is f*cking crazy.' Because it's all of our old sets, which is a time warp, 10 years ago. Below, TV Fanatics Celester Mejia, Justin Carreiro, and Paul Dailly discuss the encore, the knife being sent away and so much more.
Alaric sent the knife away with Dorian. React!
Celester: Ugh, it won't stop the problems at school. It's very obvious that it was Alaric's purpose to that. Nevertheless, the knife is just the tip of the iceberg to what these people have to face.
With a thematic monster of the week, the show is kinda keeping us on our toes. Which is good. Will it be good for Dorian, no one's sure yet.
Justin: I agree with Celester, the knife is only just the beginning of the problems. Regardless of them hiding it and sending it away, the trouble is still going to make its way to the school and the characters.

That's thanks in part to Lizzie doing the spell to keep it inside the walls of the school. Could you imagine the destruction it would have caused it made its way to the town square?
There's no way Matt could spin that one into something positive. The residents of Mystic Falls are far too oblivious for my liking, but there's going to come to a point they are in the know about what's going on,...

Just when it seemed like Mystic Falls was done with the weird creatures, another one shows up!
On Legacies Season 1 Episode 3, the Salvatore School is rocked by a mysterious Gargoyle who has come to life and is intent on causing death and destruction across campus.
In a sneak peek released by The CW, Lizzie is sulking about Alaric's continued interest in Hope, and how her life has been turned upside down by it.
That's when a youngster named Pedro gets the fright of his life.

"That statue just moved," he says to Lizzie, but she thinks he's messing with her.
"Good one. I mean, I deserve what's happening just as much as Hope. I'm his freaking daughter," Lizzie continues of her daddy issues.
"It's doing it again," says the alarmed child.
This time, however, Lizzie notices the statue has definitely moved, and she has a rational explanation for it.

One of Mystic Falls’ (many) prodigal sons has returned. Steven R. McQueen, famous for breaking necks and hearts as The Vampire Diaries‘ Jeremy Gilbert, pops up in the Nov. 8 episode of Legacies (The CW, 9/8c) — and TVLine has your exclusive first look.
Though McQueen stepped down as a series regular midway through The Vampire Diaries‘ sixth season, he made a brief cameo in the 2017 series finale, revealing that his character wouldn’t be straying too far from his hometown. “When we last saw Jeremy, he was lending a helping hand at the boarding school — now he’s someone out in the field,...

The Salvatore Boarding School for the Young and Gifted reopens its doors on Thursday (The CW, 9/8c) with the premiere of Legacies, the third installment in the Vampire Diaries franchise. It’s a return to familiar territory, but as the cast is quick to assure us, there’s plenty of fresh ground left to tread.
Legacies stars Danielle Rose Russell as Hope Mikaelson, the “tribrid” daughter of Klaus, The Vampire Diaries‘ Big Bad-turned-Big Dad, and Hayley, who sacrificed herself to save Hope’s life in the final season of The Originals. With nowhere to run, she returns to school in Mystic Falls,...

Karen David is headed to Mystic Falls.
Per Deadline, the former Galavant actress has joined Legacies, the spinoff of The Originals and The Vampire Diaries as a witch.
David will take on the role of Emma Tig, a "beautiful witch-turned-guidance counselor" at the Salvatore School for the Young & Gifted.
The report also states that the "person who needs her therapy the most (the headmaster) remains an elusive patient."
The headmaster of the school is none other than Alaric Saltzman (Matt Davis), who has not had the best time of it ever since we first laid eyes on him back on The Vampire Diaries Season 1.

We already know that the new CW show, Legacies, is a continuation of the stories told in The Vampire Diaries and its first spinoff, The Originals. But how close to home do we get for this new series, which premieres on Oct. 25? According to creator Julie Plec, the answer is very. On Monday, she told journalists at the Television Critics Association's Summer press tour that the new show's prime setting is at a school that's "off old Miller Road, on the edge of Mystic Falls, where the locals think it's a troubled school for rich kids. But inside are a wonderful cast of characters of young supernatural beings."
For those well-initiated with our favorite fictitious Virginia small town, note that there will still be a Miss Mystic Falls pageant and a Founder's Day celebration. Steven R. McQueen will return as Jeremy Gilbert for one episode and Matt Donovan (Zach Roerig) is still the town sheriff.

Farewell, The Originals!
On The Originals Season 5 Episode 13, we said goodbye to the world that was kickstarted by The Vampire Diaries all those years ago.
But were those deaths worthwhile?
Below, TV Fanatics Justin Carreiro, Lizzy Buczak and Paul Dailly discuss the deaths, the sense of finality and who should appear on Legacies!
Klaus and Elijah are dead. React!
Justin: I'm really surprised that both of them died! Someone from the Mikaelsons seemed like an obvious bet to be killed off in the series finale, but to have two of them go blew my mind. Elijah had been my top bet for the death; Klaus' death came from as a shock.
Lizzy: Shocked. It was not necessary. If Elijah was going to make the ultimate sacrifice, Klaus could have walked away and watched his daughter grow up. After the shock-factor faded, I was disappointed.

With The Vampire Diaries and The Originals well and truly over, it's time to look forward to Legacies, the third series in the franchise.
The CW has dropped three new images of the upcoming spinoff, and one of them is bringing back all of The Vampire Diaries feels.
Have a look for yourself.
With Matt Davis part of the cast as Alaric Saltzman, it was only a matter of time before he would start to use the training he used on Elena Gilbert all those years ago.
With Hope's power manifesting in crazy ways, it makes sense to have her trained in combat as opposed to using her magical or werewolf abilities to take her enemies down.

When The Originals concluded, Hope had lost her mother and father, and we know that Legacies will pick up the action two years later.

Jeremy Gilbert is returning to Mystic Falls!
The Vampire Diaries veteran, Steven R. McQueen has closed a deal to appear on the new spin-off, Legacies, according to TV Line.
He is slated to appear on the third episode of the magic school-set series. Jeremy was last seen in a blink, and you'll miss it moment on the series finale of The Vampire Diaries.
He appeared to be working at the Salvatore Boarding School for the Young and Gifted. Given that Legacies was a mere idea at that point, there was no indication about whether we'd ever get to see the character again.
Until now.
When The Vampire Diaries kicked off in 2009, Jeremy was a stoner kid who was struggling to cope after his mother and father died after crashing their car before the series kicked off.

The Gilbert family will remain well-represented in Mystic Falls.
Steven R. McQueen, who played Elena’s younger brother/cousin Jeremy on The Vampire Diaries, will appear in the third episode of The CW’s Legacies, the next chapter in the Tvd franchise, TVLine has learned exclusively.
Like most humans living in Mystic Falls, Jeremy was ignorant to the existence of the undead when we met him back in 2009. But as the years progressed, he found himself in bed with them — sometimes literally, as the late Anna Zhu can attest — until he became a hunter midway through Tvd‘s eight-season run.

As a lifelong lover of Batman and his supporting characters, you’d better believe that a movie headlined by Nightwing ranks high among those I most want to see within my lifetime. But considering how director Chris McKay has taken on Dungeons & Dragons as his next project, the realist in me is thinking Dick Grayson won’t fly solo until a much, much later date – if at all.
Still, it’s fun to ponder the possibilities as to who’ll ultimately play the Dark Knight’s first – and, arguably, greatest – apprentice whenever he may grace the silver screen. Already, fans have crafted artwork imagining the likes of Zac Efron and Jared Padalecki in the role, the latter of which was my top choice for the longest time, though he’s probably a little too old for the gig at this point.
For now, at least, all we can really do is ponder because,...

Knowing how broad the horizon is when it comes to DC films said to be arriving in theaters over the course of the next few years, I’ll be bold in saying that the movie I’m most looking forward to in a post-Justice League world may very well be Nightwing. Sure, my favorite character may be Batman himself, but we’ve grown quite accustomed to seeing him on the big screen and, let’s face it, a picture focused squarely on the Boy Wonder grown up is long, long overdue.
Luckily, it sounds like Warner Bros. have found the right guy to sit in the director’s chair, that being Chris McKay. Having already made the studio some serious dough with The Lego Batman Movie, the filmmaker looks to continue his stay in Gotham City. Truth be told, I was concerned as to whether he was the man for the job at first,...
