Those selected to participate in its first year are Sue-Ellen Chitunya, Jessica L. Funches, Moira Griffin, Dahéli Hall, and Trevite Willis.
Designed to support female-identifying, mid-career producers working in episodic, the fellowship’s participants were selected from The Blackhouse Foundation’s alumni pipeline to convene this weekend during a three-day intensive in Los Angeles. Over the course of its run, they’ll benefit from educational workshops, personal and professional mentorship and coaching, and a series of industry meetings with key stakeholders.

Production is currently underway on season four of Power Book III: Raising Kanan!
The Starz drama is set in the early 1990′s and tells the origin story of fan favorite character, Kanan Stark, and his entry into the criminal world through his mother, who ruthlessly runs the family’s drug empire.
This is the third series in the Power franchise, and there is a fourth spinoff in the works, which will be the fifth in whole franchise.
While filming is still taking place on season four, it was revealed that the show has already been renewed for season five!
“We know that our fans can’t get enough of Raising Kanan. As the inevitable evolution of this young man into a killer plays out, we knew we had much more backstory to share in this ever-escalating family saga,” Kathryn Busby, President of Original Programming for Starz, shared in a statement.

Many of the current generation of Asian and Pacific Islander writers working in television today came up through the Cape New Writers Fellowship, one of the most successful entry-level programs in the industry.
Now, the Coalition of Asian Pacifics in Entertainment is expanding its focus to the other end of the pipeline. The Cape Showrunners Incubator, powered by Starz’s #TakeTheLead diversity initiative for its inaugural year, will draw upon the nonprofit’s experience in talent development to give upper-level Api TV scribes the mentorship and other resources they need to break through that final ceiling.
“Showrunners and creative executives are the two main drivers of what ultimately ends up on screen, and this incubator is the perfect complement to the Cape Leaders Fellowship for creative executives if we want to change the stories that are told in mainstream media,” Cape executive director Michelle K. The Power universe expanded considerably following the demise of the original series in 2020.
After the news that Power Book II: Ghost would conclude with its forthcoming fourth season, there were questions about what that meant for Power Book III: Raising Kanan.
Thankfully, Starz was quick to shut down the end date buzz for the prequel series by announcing a renewal for Power Book III: Raising Kanan Season 5.
The news dropped while production on Power Book III: Raising Kanan Season 4 was underway, meaning that fans still have at least two seasons of the show to look forward to.

The third Power spinoff will outlive the second.
Starz has renewed Power Book III: Raising Kanan for a fifth season, with the pickup for the spinoff starring Mekai Curtis coming as the fourth cycle of the show is in production in New York. Creator Sascha Penn will return as showrunner and exec producer.
The renewal means Raising Kanan will officially outlive Power Book II: Ghost, as the latter series will conclude with its upcoming fourth season. Starz, meanwhile, is developing a Power prequel series, Origins, which would follow Ghost and Tommy. Power Book IV: Force is currently filming its third season in Chicago.
“We know that our fans can’t get enough of Raising Kanan. As the inevitable evolution of this young man into a killer plays out, we knew we had much more backstory to share in this ever-escalating family saga,” said Kathryn Busby, president of originals at Starz.

When Power touched down on Starz 10 years ago, it was clear the premium cabler had found a big hit.
After a decade on the air, the main show is over, three spinoffs are on the air, and a fourth is on the way.
Power: Origins scored a formal pickup this week, and the concept is sure to get fans talking.
The series delves into the earlier years of Ghost and Tommy, played by Omari Hardwick and Joseph Sikora in the original series.
Hardwick’s journey as Ghost concluded in 2020 with the end of the original series, while Sikora continues to play Tommy in the sequel series Power Book IV: Force.
It’s unclear at this stage whether Hardwick and Sikora are involved in the prequel in any capacity, but we would certainly enjoy their narration if the story allows for it.

Fans of the Power franchise are losing Ghost again — but this time, it’s the series.
Starz has canceled Power Book II: Ghost, with the show’s fourth season to serve as its last. It will be broken into two parts, premiering June 7 and September 6. Watch the teaser above.
The move was prefaced by Starz CEO Jeffrey Hirsch this week when he revealed plans to contain content costs by developing more new shows versus sustaining series longer as they become more expensive.
Using the Power franchise as an example, he said: “You look at the [Power] map and say, ‘Ok, if I take one of those characters out and spin one of those out, I can bring that on to replace the Power show at half the cost.’ Now I’m putting a lot of money right to the bottom line. And I’m really not losing anything in terms of acquisition costs and subscriber viewership,...

The premium cable outlet is developing a drama titled Origins, which would follow younger versions of Ghost and Tommy, characters played by Omari Hardwick and Joseph Sikora in Power (Sikora also stars in the spinoff Power Book IV: Force). The project would be the fourth spinoff of Power, which premiered in 2014, following Book II: Ghost, Book III: Raising Kanan and Force.

Ghost and Tommy are getting their own “Power” origins story. As Starz continues to span the “Power” universe into multiple series, the network is ready to announce the official fourth spinoff. The network confirmed Wednesday that it is developing the “Power” prequel series “Origins,” which will follow the beginning story of characters Ghost and Tommy, played in the original “Power” by Omari Hardwick and Joseph Sikora.
Sascha Penn (“Power Book III: Raising Kanan”) will serve as the executive producer for “Origins,” which comes from Lionsgate TV. (It’s unclear whether it will actually be called “Power Book V: Origins.”)
The first “Power,” which debuted in 2014, starred Hardwick as James St. Patrick, a nightlife entrepreneur who is also a massively successful cocaine distributor known on the streets as “Ghost.” He rules that empore alongside his childhood friend Tommy, played by Sikora.

Starz is expanding the Power Universe again with a prequel spinoff series that will reunite Ghost and Tommy.
In the vein of Power Book III: Raising Kanan, which follows the youthful years of everyone’s favorite foe, Kanan Stark (played by Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson), the new series Origin will follow the early years of the beloved duo of Ghost and Tommy’s (played by Omari Hardwick and Joseph Sikora in the Og series).
Fans of Raising Kanan have been asking for seasons when Ghost and Tommy would run into Kanan since the teens met in high school, yet those characters had never been cast. But as Tommy reappeared after Power in Power Book II: Ghost before spinning off into his series Power Book IV: Force, it would make sense if Ghost and Tommy appeared in Raising Kanan before Origins. Starz is heading down south with Uncle Clifford.
The Lionsgate-backed premium cable network has ordered Down in the Valley, a half-hour docuseries exploring the Deep South with P-Valley star Nicco Annan set to host. The six-episode series will launch at a date to be determined this year and explore the people, music, culture and stories of the South, per Starz, as the show will feature everything from strip clubs to sex workshops, rap performances and ancient hoodoo rituals.
The order for Down in the Valley arrives as P-Valley — from creator Katori Hall — has been off the air for nearly two years. Sources say production on P-Valley is expected to resume later this year, though the show is not expected to air in 2024.
“P-Valley has authentically captured Southern Black culture in our fictional world of Chuccalisa and piqued the curiosity of our Pynk Posse to learn more,” said Kathryn Busby,...

Power Book IV: Force has been renewed for a third season at Starz.
Season 2 of the third spinoff in the Power franchise followed Tommy Egan (Joseph Sikora), who was on a mission to avenge the death of Liliana, and with the Flynn organization weakened, he’s more determined than ever to take over the Chicago drug world. But with Cbi split down the middle, Tommy and Diamond first must maintain their edge over Jenard. As their factions feud in the streets, Tommy capitalizes on another rivalry between the Serbs and Miguel Garcia, the most formidable drug lord in Chicago.
After setting off a chain reaction of violence in pursuit of his ambition, Tommy must race to stay ahead of the men who are coming for what’s theirs, a federal task force that’s closing ranks, and a sadistic supplier with a direct line to the Cartel. All the while...
