This is the second of the DC Ink books I have reviewed, the first being Under The Moon, a young Selina Kyle/ Catwoman story. I expect the approach to the characters in this to be as fresh and as different as the approach in that book. The DC Ink imprint is aimed at encouraging in new readers in the 13-17 age range, with a special emphasis on female readers. These are not comics or graphic novels as such, but packaged to look more like books with mainstream style covers. I love the idea, and I try to read and review the book as their target audience would, not as an old curmudgeonly ‘in my day’ type reader. Let’s take a look.
Mera, of course, was always a good choice for one of these titles,...

It would seem The Wizard of Oz is a topic that just won’t fade away in the television business. Many networks are trying to get projects going in connection to the 1939 feature’s 75th anniversary and now Lifetime is getting in on the action. While most networks are taking the reimagining route, Lifetime is looking to create something entirely new by latching on to a very small idea from the 1939 movie. I’m sure you all know of the Yellow Brick Road, the road Dorothy and her friends travelled on to reach the Emerald City. But do you remember the red brick road?
Though seen only briefly in The Wizard of Oz, nobody ever really found out where the red brick road leads. Sure, I’ve seen some ask and offer up ideas, but Lifetime seeks to answer the question. Red Brick Road comes from Wolper Organization, Vertigo Entertainment and Warner Horizon.

This has truly been the summer for projects based on The Wizard Of Oz. Yet another project has reached the spotlight as it enters into pilot consideration. The CW has taken interest in the upcoming young adult novel written by Danielle Paige called Dorothy Must Die. It’s a take on the world of Oz that I’ve yet to see and I’m firmly in support of this project. The pilot is taking the same name as the novel and comes from Heroes creator/executive producer Tim Kring, as well as fellow Heroes EPs Adam Armus and Nora Kay Foster. Just wait until you here what’s in store for Dorothy Must Die.
While there are many ways you can interpret Wizard Of Oz, few would dare to put Dorothy in the role of the villain. According to Deadline, Dorothy Must Die, written by Armus and Foster with Kring supervising,...

You know the old saying, you wait ages for an Oz-inspired TV show to go into development, and then three arrive at once.
Heroes and Touch's Tim Kring is reported to be developing a new show for The CW, based on Danielle Paige's forthcoming Young Adult novel, Dorothy Must Die. The 2014 novel sees a sixteen-year-old Dorothy Gale returning to Oz only to find it changed. "This time," goes the official blurb, "the yellow brick road leads her down a very different path. And before her journey is through, Dorothy will find that the line between wicked and good has become so blurred she's not sure which side of it she's on." Blimey.

"Heroes" creator Tim Kring is in negotiations with The CW network to develop the drama "Dorothy Must Die" based on Danielle Paige's upcoming young adult novel.
The series will be a revisionist and present day set take on "The Wizard of Oz" set eight decades after Dorothy Gale seemingly returned home.
In reality, the eternally youthful Dorothy has stayed in Oz, ruling over a now fascist fairyland with an iron fist and her henchmen - the Scarecrow, the Tin Man, and the Cowardly Lion.
It's at this time when another young woman from Kansas lands in this war-torn Oz and becomes the leader of a revolutionary underground of witches and enchanted beings determined to reclaim Oz from the power-hungry Dorothy.
Adam Armus and Nora Kay Foster penned the script. It marks the fourth Oz-related TV project currently in development.

Supporting the belief that there are no new ideas in Hollywood, The CW is reportedly developing a drama project with "Heroes" creator Tim Kring based on "The Wizard of Oz," making that the third Dorothy story in the works at a broadcast network.
Deadline reports that the netlet is in negotiations for "Dorothy Must Die," based on the upcoming young adult novel of the same name from Danielle Paige. The story is a revisionist take on the classic story because Hollywood's modus operandi these days is to take something we love and "re-envision" it as something we hate.
Set in present day, 80 years after Dorothy supposedly left the land of Oz and returned to Kansas, it's revealed that the "magically-ever-youthful" Dorothy never left the Emerald City. She's become the ruler of the now fascist fairyland with the help of her henchmen the Scarecrow, the Tin Man and the Cowardly Lion.

Exclusive: The summer of Wizard Of Oz continues with another sale of a high-profile Oz-themed drama project. I’ve learned that the CW is in negotiations for Dorothy Must Die, a drama from the Heroes trio of creator/exec producer Tim Kring and exec producers Adam Armus and Nora Kay Foster. Written by Armus and Foster with Kring supervising, I hear the project is based on the upcoming young adult novel Dorothy Must Die by Danielle Paige. It is a revisionist take on the classic tale set in present day, 80 years after Dorothy Gale supposedly came home. In reality, the magically-ever-youthful Dorothy has stayed in Oz, presiding over a now fascist fairyland with her perfectly manicured iron fist and the help of her henchmen – the Scarecrow, the Tin Man, and the Cowardly Lion. But when another young woman from Kansas is swept up in a tornado and magically dropped into this war-torn Oz,...
