The Vitaphone was a sound-on-disc system developed by Bell Telephone
Laboratories and Western Electric. The system was first embraced by
Warner Brothers and over 100 short subjects were produced at the Warner
Brothers-First National Studios in the mid 1920s. Harvey Cunningham was
employed at the time by Bell Telephone, Ludlow division in Los Angeles
and was hired by Warner Bros. He helped to implement sound recording in
film as a sound engineer, working on the "Jazz Singer", "Lights of New
York", the first all talking film produced and "On With The Show", the
first all talking, all color film. Harvey went on to work on many of
the popular Rin Tin Tin serials.
