NBC has picked up drama pilot The Irrational, starring Jesse L. Martin, to series.
The Irrational, from Arika Lisanne Mittman, was ordered to pilot in February and signs were looking good for a series order. As Deadline previously reported, a mini writers room was set up in the fall to produce a couple of backup scripts, and cast options, which had been set to expire in October, were extended through the end of this month.

Exclusive: Dick Wolf’s NBC medical drama Chicago Med has secured the bulk of its original cast. S. Epatha Merkerson, Oliver Platt, Nick Gehlfuss and Brian Tee have closed new multi-year deals to continue on the popular Chicago Fire spinoff series from Wolf Entertainment and Universal Television. Remaining original cast member Marlyne Barrett has one more year on her existing contract and also is set to return.
The initial contracts of the original Chicago Med cast expired at the end of the most recent sixth season. Teri Polo is set and Dean Cain and Jay Thomas are in final negotiations to play leads in the ensemble film Material Lies for Starr Light Prods.
Katherine Starr will write and direct. Cain will play struggling actor Josh, who upon learning that he has leukemia arranges a weekend reunion of his former college friends, including his former sweetheart Ginni (Polo), with whom he hopes to reconcile. He plans to portray himself as wealthy and successful, and Frank (Thomas) agrees to help.
Production is slated to begin in June in Malibu.
Starr, Valerie McCaffrey, Shelly Earl and Scott Hamilton will produce.

David James Elliott has been tapped to star in "Impact", a four-hour disaster miniseries from Muse Entertainment, Jaffe/Braunstein Entertainment and Tandem Communications.
Budgeted at $13 million, the effects-heavy "Impact" chronicles the aftermath of a meteor shower during which a piece of a dwarf star lodges itself in the moon. That triggers a series of anomalies on Earth, including cell phone service interruption, exaggerated tides and the occurrence of sporadic weightlessness.
Astrophysicist Alex Kinter (Elliott), with a help of a female astronomer, discover that the moon has been dislodged from its orbit and is on a collision course with Earth.
Michael Vickerman ("Superfire") penned the script for the mini, which is being exec produced by Michael Prupas, Howard Braunstein, Rola Bauer and Jonas Bauer.

David Rees Snell (The Shield), Michael Urie (Ugly Betty) and Michael Ironside (ER) co-star in the paranormal thriller, written and directed by Michael Stokes.
The movie, produced by Sally Helppie, centers on Bryn (Polo), a thirtysomething woman grieving over the loss of her 4-year-old son. Along with her college professor and author husband (Snell), Bryn moves into the charming old Beacon Apartments. There, she begins to see a boy who died in a fall down the Beacon's elevator shaft while trying to escape his abusive father. With the help of an eccentric young professor (Urie), Bryn tries to save the boy's spirit. Ironside plays a tough career cop who has adopted the residents.
Production on the film started this week in Dallas.

Law & Order veteran Jesse L. Martin is expected to leave the long-running NBC drama after nine years.
Anthony Anderson is in final negotiations to come on board and fill the void left by Martin's departure. Anderson will play a new detective partnered with Jeremy Sisto's Cyrus Lupo.
Martin will film one more episode of the Wolf Films/Universal Media Studios series, in which his character, Detective Ed Green, will be written off, sources said.
The actor had signed on to do the first 13 episodes this season with an option for more.
Martin, who recently wrapped the feature Peter and Vandy, next is set to portray Marvin Gaye in the biopic Sexual Healing, which is expected to begin production in late April or early May. He is repped by Endeavor and manager Bob McGowan.

Lourdes Benedicto is set to recur on ABC's new drama Cashmere Mafia, while C.S. Lee has landed a recurring role on another freshman one-hour series, NBC's Chuck.
On Cashmere, from Sony Pictures TV, Benedicto will play Caitlin Dowd's (Bonnie Somerville) hot lesbian love interest.

The Sopranos co-star Tony Sirico and Morgan Fairchild have been tapped to star in the indie The Sno Cone Stand, Inc.
The project, from newcomer writer-director-producer Travis Knapp, is a Texas-based comedy about three stockbroker trainees who hate their jobs and self-absorbed boss Mr. Bob (Sirico) and try to get rich quick by launching a snow cone business.
Fairchild will play Mr. Bob's sales manager.
The movie, budgeted at $1.5 million, is produced by Slappy K-nappy. Arnie Reyes (Sticks & Stones) and Noel Tristan are co-producers. Filming is slated to begin Sept. 4 in Austin.
Sirico recently wrapped HBO's Sopranos, on which he played Paulie Walnuts.
Fairchild recently starred on MyNetworkTV's Fashion House.
