In a couple of months, it will be a year since we lost the late, great Lance Reddick. His passing was a shock as it came so suddenly, and at a time where he had incredible works on the horizon. We haven’t even seen the last of his work as he’s due to make a cameo appearance as his John Wick character, Charon, in the spin-off Ballerina. He can recently be seen in the Disney+ show, Percy Jackson and the Olympians, where he fittingly portrays the Greek God, Zeus. Reddick would finish filming the first season just before his untimely passing.
Percy Jackson and the Olympians would finally premiere on Disney+, and the season finale featured an epic conflict with Zeus on the top of Mount Olympus. Deadline reports that the show would pay tribute to the late actor by closing out with a title card that read,...

Percy Jackson completed his quest.
The season finale of Percy Jackson and the Olympians finds the title character (Walker Scobell) confronting two powerful Greek gods, sharing emotional scenes with both of his parents — and discovering that there might be more challenges to come. In keeping with the structure of The Lightning Thief, the Rick Riordan novel that’s the source material for this season, the finale showcases several high-stakes scenes that all feel like climaxes to the story, only to build to another big moment.
First, Percy faces down Ares (Adam Copeland) in hopes of retrieving Hades’ helm and preventing an all-out war among the gods and its disastrous consequences for humanity. After successfully taking on the god of war — with a little help from the sea — he travels to Olympus to return the master bolt to Zeus (Lance Reddick, in one of his final acting roles before his death...

Spoiler Alert! This post contains details from the season finale of Percy Jackson and the Olympians.
We finally know who the real Lightning Thief is.
Percy Jackson and the Olympians wrapped its first season on Tuesday with an action-packed episode that ties up all those loose ends after Percy, Annabeth and Grover narrowly escape the Underworld. That includes who really stole the Master Bolt.
Turns out, it was Luke all along. The son of Hermes has been in cahoots with Kronos to possibly destroy Mount Olympus and overthrow the gods. All is revealed when Percy and the team return to Camp Half-Blood, where they expect to find an ally in Luke, still thinking Clarisse stole the bolt. But Luke soon reveals himself, getting entangled in a battle with Percy, who he tries to convince to join his cause.

Note: Spoilers ahead for the Season 1 finale of “Percy Jackson and the Olympians”
The traitor of Percy Jackson’s first prophecy has finally been revealed and, though it obviously didn’t shock those who read the books, it certainly shocked Annabeth Chase on screen. And Charlie Bushnell, who plays the traitor himself, is definitely excited for what a proper confrontation between the two might look like.
In the season finale of the Disney+ series, now streaming, Percy Jackson (Walker Scobell) and his friends return to camp, ready to rat out Clarisse (Dior Goodjohn) as the traitor, after they figure that Ares (Adam Copeland) would only protect one of his own children.
But, as it turns out, the traitor is really Luke (Bushnell). He gave Percy the winged shoes hoping that they’d drag him down to Tartarus and straight to Kronos. Luke didn’t anticipate Percy giving the shoes to Grover (Aryan Simhadri). So,...

Spoiler Alert: This article contains spoilers for the season finale of “Percy Jackson and the Olympians,” now streaming on Disney+.
The first season of the long-awaited “Percy Jackson and the Olympians” series on Disney+ has come to a close, and it ended the same way Rick Riordan’s first book did: Percy (Walker Scobell), Annabeth (Leah Sava Jeffries) and Grover (Aryan Simhadri) part ways before the school year, knowing that they’ll reunite in the not-so-distant future with a bit more world-saving to do. But the journey to get there was often unpredictable, even for fans of the novel.
Most notably, Percy fails his quest. He and his friends miss the summer solstice deadline to find and return Zeus’ (the late Lance Reddick) stolen master lightning bolt, kicking off a war between Zeus and Poseidon (Toby Stephens) — and marking the series’ biggest departure from the book. Still, the kids plunge...

Even before they earned Oscar nominations for their respective performances in “Elvis” and “The Banshees of Inisherin,” Austin Butler and Barry Keoghan were already flying high. In 2021, the talented duo joined BAFTA TV nominee Callum Turner in filming “Masters of the Air,” a new miniseries produced by Tom Hanks, Steven Spielberg and Gary Goetzman. The World War II-set drama — the first two episodes of which are now streaming on Apple TV+ — is the long-awaited follow-up to the Emmy-winning HBO miniseries “Band of Brothers” and “The Pacific,” which followed members of the Army and Marine Corps, respectively, during the war.

As played by Zach Woods, who’s made a career specializing in awkward, alarmingly pasty nerds, NPR host Lauren Caspian is the type of tote-bag-carrying, kombucha-swigging, self-described sapiosexual that any other show might mock by having him drop a particularly overexposed Hamilton quote. Going to summer camp makes some lifelong memories. For the Percy Jackson and the Olympians cast, that was certainly true. The actors who play the demigods and satyrs of Camp Half-Blood became a tight-knit group while filming Season 1 of the Disney+ fantasy series. In the TV Insider video above, stars Walker Scobell, Leah Sava Jeffries, and Aryan Simhadri dish out camp superlatives to their fellow Camp Half-Blood campers (with one adult guest star thrown in). One thing is clear: Dior Goodjohn (Clarisse La Rue) was a very popular person on set. The trio not only named her “most likely to be the most popular kid at camp,” but also said she’s the most likely to receive most of these superlatives. Charlie Bushnell (Luke Castellan) and Andrew Alvarez (Chris Rodriguez) were also named a lot. And they say Adam Copeland — the wrestling superstar who plays the war god Ares...

"On air!" Peacock has revealed an official trailer for a streaming series debuting later in January called In The Know, a fun riff on NPR office life. It's co-created by Brandon Gardner, Zach Woods, and comedy mastermind Mike Judge. This public radio parody follows the making of NPR's fictional "third most popular host" Lauren Caspian's radio program, where he conducts in-depth interviews with special guests – including Kaia Gerber, Ken Burns, Finn Wolfhard, Norah Jones, Mike Tyson, Hugh Laurie, Jorge Masvisdal, and more. "He's a well-meaning, hypocritical nimrod, just like you and me. He's also a stop motion puppet." The show features stop-motion animation from ShadowMachine (the same place that also made Guillermo del Toro's Pinocchio) and a voice cast featuring Zach Woods as Lauren, Charlie Bushnell, J. Smith-Cameron, Mike Judge, Caitlin Reilly, & Carl Tart. The cleverest part are the interviews with real people spliced with all the other antics.

Peacock has unveiled the trailer for In The Know, an adult animation series which combines stop-motion animation and live-action interviews, from Zach Woods, Mike Judge and Brandon Gardner.

In one interview Caspian asks Hugh Laurie, “what should we do about Meghan Markle,” to which an emotionless Laurie responds, “I don’t know that any action is required.”

The series premiere of Percy Jackson and the Olympians left some fans confused after Disney+ decided to drop the first two episodes of the series the night before they were originally scheduled to premiere. Some eagle-eyed fans found hints that the show would be arriving early on Dec. 19 instead of Dec. 20, but there was no formal confirmation that this would be the release schedule until episodes 1 and 2 appeared on Disney+.
While the early arrival of Percy Jackson episodes was a welcome surprise for many, it also left some fans confused and scrambling to change their plans so they wouldn’t miss out.

Percy Jackson and the Olympians is officially streaming on Disney+ and features Charlie Bushnell as Luke Castellan.
Fans have been assured that the eight-episode series will stick closely to the books — a promise that, at least based on the first two episodes and teaser footage, appears to have been kept.
As such, it is fair to assume Luke will play a role in the show relatively similar to the one he played in the books. While he may not be the character with the most actual appearances in the story, he is still important to its plot, as book fans are well aware.

The Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings films ushered in a wave of fantasy novel adaptations in the early 2000s. These included movies like the Chronicles of Narnia films and Percy Jackson and the Olympians. Walker Scobell, Leah Sava Jeffries, Aryan Simhadri, Jason Mantsoukas, Glynn Turman, Dior Goodjohn and more of the show’s stars hit the blue carpet to celebrate the series and discussed working with Lin-Manuel Miranda, who has a recurring role as Hermes in the series, and the late Lance Reddick, who plays Zeus.
“Lin is exactly how you’d expect Lin-Manuel Miranda to be,” Scobell, who plays Percy Jackson in the series, told The Hollywood Reporter. “He’ll randomly just break into song in between takes. It’s hilarious.”
Simhadri, who portrays Grover, shared that working with Miranda was “crazy.” “Getting to work with one of the greatest minds of our generation [on Broadway] and out, I mean, how do you not freak out in that kind of situation?...

“Percy Jackson and the Olympians” star Walker Scobell has become a top contender among fans to play Link in Nintendo’s live-action “Legend of Zelda” movie. But how does the 14-year-old actor feel about the idea of portraying the hero of Hyrule?
“Actually, I don’t know. I don’t know if I’d be interested in playing Link,” Scobell told Variety at the “Percy Jackson” premiere in New York City Wednesday night. “If they came to me, I’d definitely consider it, 100%.”
Asked if he’s familiar with any of the Legend of Zelda games, Scobell said, “I have played ‘Breath of the Wild.’ I haven’t played the new one, ‘Tears of the Kingdom,’ but my dad loves Legend of Zelda. He played the games when he was younger.”

A storm is brewing, and this one could usher in the end of times.
Disney+ has released a new trailer for Percy Jackson and the Olympians, and there's a good chance it will be the streaming service's best series this year.
With the Marvel Cinematic Universe imploding on both the big screen and on streaming, and the tepid response to The Mandalorian Season 3, Disney+ is betting on Percy Jackson and the Olympians.
In the past, Disney+ hasn't put its marketing muscle behind projects outside the MCU and Star Wars universe.
If the series manages to break through, it will probably urge the streaming service to take more significant risks.
Adapting Rick Riordan's bestselling book series for the small screen already looks to be paying off.
While the two big-screen adaptations were criticized, everything we see for Percy Jackson and the Olympians looks like a natural next step for the franchise.

As much as coming-of-age stories like "Harry Potter" tended to suck up all the oxygen in the room during our younger years, Millennials of a certain age can't help but look back fondly on the "Percy Jackson" series. Author Rick Riordan's novels took a fantastical spin on Greek mythology and cleverly blended it with all the typical teenage angst found in YA books everywhere. This approach proved so popular, in fact, that 20th Century Studios ushered in two big-budget film adaptations in the early 2010s, following the adventures of the young demigod Percy Jackson with grand ambitions of all six of Riordan's original books. That didn't exactly pan out as expected and plans for the franchise all but fizzled out with "Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters" in 2013 ... not least of all because Riordan essentially disowned the films.
The upcoming Disney+ series, however, has been working overtime to right those...

It’s no secret that Rick Riordan, who wrote the Percy Jackson book series and executive-produces the upcoming Disney+ live-action series, took major issue with the 2010 film Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief and its sequel Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters.
In his notes to movie producers in 2009, he called the Lightning Thief script “terrible” as a whole and maligned the age-inappropriate swearing as a “lazy attempt to make the script seem hip to teens.” Responding to a fan in 2020 who said he hated the films more than they did, Riordan shared that it was “my life’s...

Far too often, reboots are pale imitations of the source material, but the official trailer for Percy Jackson and the Olympians leads us to believe TV may be the perfect medium for Rick Riordan's work.
Disney+ dropped the new footage on Tuesday, which teases the heroic quest Percy Jackson (Walker Scobell), Grover Underwood (Aryan Simhadri), and Annabeth Chase (Leah Sava Jeffries) will embark on when the series premieres later this year.
Percy Jackson and the Olympians premieres December 20 on Disney+ with a two-episode premiere, followed by new episodes weekly.
The series "tells the fantastical story of a 12-year-old modern demigod, Percy Jackson, who's just coming to terms with his newfound divine powers when the sky god, Zeus, accuses him of stealing his master lightning bolt," the logline teases.
"With help from his friends Grover and Annabeth, Percy must embark on an adventure of a lifetime to find it and restore order to Olympus.
