As Kyle Bradstreet’s Secret Invasion reaches its halfway point, the spy series is surprising us in more ways than one. It’s not just the shocking death of Emilia Clarke’s G’iah and the well-signposted reveal that Don Cheadle’s James “Rhodey” Rhodes is a Skrull that make Episode 3 worth a watch. Somehow, Secret Invasion has done the almost unthinkable and made us reconsider Iron Man 3.
Up there with Alan Taylor’s Thor: The Dark World and (more recently) Chloé Zhao’s Eternals, Shane Black’s 2013 threequel is often held as one of the ‘worst’ Marvel Cinematic Universe movies. While even a bad MCU outing usually fares better than an average DC movie, Iron Man 3’s reception hasn’t exactly improved over the years. With botched villains, a bizarre push to release in 3D, and That Mandarin twist, it’s taken a...

While the comic book source material is always close to the Marvel Cinematic Universe's heart, the movies aren't afraid to pave their own way through one of the publisher's many classic stories. Along with changes to plots we thought we knew, new versions of old friends and foes pop up on the big and small screens -- and the results of these transformations aren't always what we expected.
Most of the time, the changes are refreshing, giving us a new view of a character that might've been first introduced in the 1970s, like Starfox, allowing them an opportunity to reboot some seriously dated morals. Or they introduce someone almost totally new, like Scarlet Scarab, to bring in a viewpoint that's never had the representation it deserved. But sometimes, the results are controversial, leading fans to argue that the MCU dropped the ball. It's a conflict that arises around villains the most,...

Marvel’s new Iron Man series looks set to be a kind of soft reboot for the character. The book follows in the wake of Iron Man 2020, a tale featuring Arno Stark (Tony’s adoptive brother) seizing the mantle and Tony at the forefront of a synthetic life revolution. After that, writer Christopher Cantwell and artist Cafu seem determined to bring him back to basics, showing Stark doing hands-on superhero work and fewer stories about him being a global celebrity.
All of this comes with a new suit, too. Designed by comics legend Alex Ross, this pulls back from the tech-focused sharp lines of Adi Granov and the McU designs and goes for something that’ll be familiar to longtime fans of the character.

Less than a few weeks into the New Year and already, a huge number of high profile video game releases have suffered substantial delays.
Square Enix, in particular, confirmed earlier this week that both Marvel’s Avengers and Final Fantasy VII Remake will be arriving later than expected, with the former being pushed back by a whopping four months. That disappointment has only continued today as, just hours ago, The Witcher 3 developer CD Projekt Red announced that its latest game, Cyberpunk 2077, has slipped from its original April window to September.
And now, the domino effect has claimed yet another victim. Camouflaj’s PlayStation Vr exclusive Iron Man title has experienced something of a malfunction. Taking to Twitter in order to update fans with news of the setback, the studio said in a short message:

I think it is fair to say after eleven years and twenty two movies the McU very much became its own entity. It was successful enough and brave enough to tell its own stories. While Avengers: Endgame is busy making millions I have seen lots of tweets reminding people not to forget the comic book roots of these characters and the creators or created them for so little pay and credit. So what I want to do here is give some reading suggestions for stories that inspired important moments in the McU. Also it will give me a chance to talk about the pricing up Tpb’s or hardcovers on eBay, because so far a lot of my time has been spent focusing on single issues. I did have a very cool idea to highlight some single issues that are key to Avengers: Endgame but as we are still in...

We’ve been looking forward to seeing Tom Hardy let loose as Venom, one of the greatest characters in the Marvel Universe, and Ruben Fleischer’s film is easily one of our most-anticipated of the year.
Bremont Watches have partnered with Columbia Pictures to offer an amazing once-in-a-lifetime prize: a flight on a specially themed ‘Venom’ plane and two tickets to a London screening of the film.
Here’s a little more about this amazing opportunity:
October 2018 will see the release of Columbia Pictures’ highly anticipated action-packed film Venom. Not only does the new Bremont U-2/51-jet appear in the film, but Bremont, in collaboration with the studio, teamed up with artist Adi Granov to paint the Bremont Broussard, the brand’s former 1950’s French military aircraft. It’s been 10 years since Robert Downey Jr. suited up as Tony Stark in the iconic Mark 1 armor in “Iron Man.” Back then the VFX had to look good to win over CG skeptic Jon Favreau, but Industrial Light & Magic stepped up and earned the first of eight Oscar nominations for Marvel.
Eighteen movies later, with the record-breaking “Avengers: Infinity War,” Marvel continued its superhero and box office dominance, while their photo-real VFX have never been better, advancing cutting edge modeling, shading, lighting, rendering, facial and motion capture, and explosive simulations.
Who knows? Maybe Marvel will even earn its first VFX Oscar for Thanos, the badass, unstoppable star of “Infinity War,” performed with great intensity and inner turmoil by Josh Brolin, and brilliantly mo-capped and animated by Digital Domain and Weta Digital (for the third-act Titan battle). That would be a fitting culmination. So, in honor of the McU’s 10th anniversary,...

It’s hard to imagine Marvel would allow our first glimpse of their rebooted take on Spider-Man to come courtesy of a leaked image of a business card – but that might just be what’s happened here.
Th above photo of Marvel Editor-In-Chief Axel Alonso’s card found its way online tonight, and was quickly pickled up by several outlets. As you can see, it depicts a number of Marvel superheroes, such as Captain America, Iron Man, Black Panther and Star-Lord, all wearing costumes exactly like or very similar to the ones donned by their live-action counterparts. The one exception is probably Black Widow, whose outfit much more resembles the comic book incarnation of the character.

Civil War #1-7 (2006-2007)
Written by Mark Millar
Penciled by Steve McNiven
Inked by Dexter Vines
Colored by Morry Hollowell
Published by Marvel Comics
Civil War was a massive Marvel crossover event running from 2006 to 2007 and tied into virtually every Marvel comic including cosmic ones, like Nova, and quirky teen ones, like Runaways. The comic begins with the New Warriors (a team of perpetually C-Listers) fighting a group of supervillains to garner better ratings for their reality TV show, which leads to the villain Nitro blowing up a school in Stamford, Connecticut leading to many civilian casualties. This leads to Tony Stark, Reed Richards, the Avengers, and Shield supporting the Superhuman Registration Act, which bans secret identities, implements mandatory training for young heroes, and makes superheroes agents of Shield. This is opposed by Captain America, who doesn’t want to hunt down his fellow heroes, and the conflict begins as...

If you don't know who Adi Granov is, then you need to read the intro I wrote about him for an artist spotlight we did for him a year ago:
Adi Granov's design of Iron Man is what really put him at the top of my list for favorite comic book artist. Granov's style is dimensional, cinematic, and pure awesome. It's easy to see why Marvel chose him to do lots of early concept work for Iron Man, Iron Man 2, and The Avengers movies.
Marvel has been releasing Star Wars comic books after Disney's purchase of Lucas Film. Marvel is using its roster of talented artists to create amazing covers for it's Star Wars comics. Adi Granov has created variant covers for Star Wars: Darth Vader #1 and #2.

Marvel Comics has just revealed an exciting illustration teasing the return of Civil War for 2015. The art was created by Adi Granov, and it features Iron Man and Captain America playing a little game of superhero tug-o-war with Iron Spider. I'm pretty sure that it has something to do with the Civil War story line that will be introduced in Captain America 3 as we recently reported. Marvel will be rebooting the Civil War comic series to introduce the story to new readers leading up to that release of Captain America 3. The original series was an amazing seven issue run written by Mark Millar that was published in 2006 - 2007. ...

It was bound to happen after Disney acquired Lucasfilms several years after purchasing Marvel. Today at San Diego Comic-Con, as reported by IGN, USA Today, and The Hollywood Reporter, Marvel announced three new Star Wars titles. Each title will be set after the events of the original 1977 film and will be written and drawn by some of the industry’s greatest talents.
