Snoop Dogg wasn’t even born yet when William Bell released “I Forgot to Be Your Lover” in 1968, but he managed to get in on it decades later for Take Me to the River, a documentary that brings the older musical legends of Memphis together with newer artists to re-record updated versions of songs like “Ain’t No Sunshine” and “Trying to Live My Life Without You.”
Take Me to the River director Martin Shore worked with Snoop before on 2006’s Hood of Horror so when the rapper found out Shore was working on this documentary, he immediately knew he wanted to be involved.

We told you yesterday about how the 10th anniversary edition of the Austin City Limits Festival was trying to shake things up by slowly revealing its lineup through a low-tech "Lineup Lottery" scratch-card game that had coughed up the names of a few participants: Arcade Fire, My Morning Jacket, Cee Lo and Chromeo.
Then the June issue of Spin magazine revealed that Kanye West and Stevie Wonder would also be joining the September 16-18 party in Austin's Zilker Park.
But on Tuesday (May 17), the festival finally tipped its entire hand, and in addition to newly announced fave Kanye, the festival will also be serving up headline sets from Coldplay, Fleet Foxes, Nas & Damian "Jr Gong" Marley, and Alison Krauss and Union Station.

Hanson have announced plans for a 12-hour benefit livestream set for Saturday (March 19) at South by Southwest, to aid victims of the massive earthquake and subsequent tsunami in Japan.
The event, which will stream live at SXSW4Japan.org , features performances and appearances from Michael Stipe, John Hermann of Widespread Panic, the North Mississippi Allstars, the Court Yard Hounds, Bowling for Soup — to name just a few — plus Hanson themselves.
The benefit is co-sponsored by SXSW itself, which originally started with a goal of raising $10,000 for survivors of the disasters in Japan, a goal they've subsequently raised to $100,000 thanks to Hanson's involvement. Fans can donate through the SXSW 4 Japan site, or by texting "Redcross" to 90999. All funds go to the Red Cross's disaster-relief efforts in Japan.
