Sarah Michelle Gellar has reflected on her Buffy the Vampire Slayer success, saying that she will “always be proud” of the series, despite the Joss Whedon controversy.
Gellar led the seven-season cult classic, created by Whedon, as the titular Buffy, whose life’s mission was to destroy vampires and other forces of darkness.
In 2021, nearly 18 years after the hit drama ended, Charisma Carpenter, who played Cordelia Chase in the show, came forward with allegations of “abuse of power” against Whedon. Her comments only added to a rolling tide of allegations from Whedon’s past collaborators.
The creator and director has since denied all claims.
At the time, Gellar issued a statement, supporting her castmate, writing: “While I am proud to have my name associated with Buffy Summers, I don’t want to be forever associated with the name Joss Whedon.”
Now, in a new interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Gellar once again addressed the controversy,...

Finn Wolfhard has responded to Millie Bobby Brown’s brutal claim about his kissing techique.
The 20-year-old actor, who plays Mike Wheeler in Stranger Things, was reminded of his co-star’s lie detector test answer, in which she was asked about old comments she once made about their romantic scenes.
Brown previously said of Wolfhard: “His kissing sucks.” And when Vanity Fair asked her: “Is Finn just a lousy kisser?” she replied, without missing a beat: “He is.”
The lie detector test deemed her answer to be true.
She was then asked “So he hasn’t gotten better?” to which Brown stated: “Not with me, no.” Again, the lie detector stated she was telling the truth.
When it was pointed out that Wolfhard would find out what she said, Brown, 18, did not seem to mind, stating: “That’s Ok.”
Sure enough, in an episode of The Drew Barrymore Show set...

Entourage star Emmanuelle Chriqui has defended the series after claims it was “misogynistic”.
The series followed a group of men, led by Hollywood actor Vincent Chase (Adrian Grenier), and their lavish lifestyle in Los Angeles.
Chriqui joined the HBO comedy in 2005 for its second season, and played Sloan, the girlfriend of Kevin Connolly’s Eric, right through to its final run in 2011. She reprised the role of Sloan for the film spin-off in 2015.
In recent years, the show’s legacy has been questioned, with some writers calling the Doug Ellin-directed series sexist for its depiction of women as disposable sexual pursuits.
One person who disagrees with this is Chriqui, whose supporting character was the most prominent woman featured in the show.
During Chriqui’s appearance on Inside of You, podcast host Michael Rosenbaum asked the actor about whether the “bro culture” portrayed in the show “still exists”.

The new record will see Gallagher honour his Mancunian roots and reflect on “growing up in poverty and unemployment”.
“It’s going back to the beginning. Daydreaming, looking up at the sky and wondering about what life could be … that’s as true to me now as it was in the early Nineties,” said Gallagher of the new album.
“When I was growing up in poverty and unemployment, music took me out of that,” he continued. “Top of the Pops on TV transformed your Thursday night into this fantasy world, and that’s what I think music should be.

Nick Cave has said that ChatGPT and AI songwriting are “a grotesque mockery of what it is to be human”.
ChatGPT is a chatbot launched by OpenAI in November 2022.
It is built on top of OpenAI’s Gpt-3 family of large language models and is fine-tuned with both supervised and reinforcement learning techniques.
The 65-year-old singer and songwriter addressed the growing interest in the chatbox service in his blog The Red Hand Files.
He revealed that he received plenty of song submissions from his fans that were generated on ChatGPT.
Responding to a submission by a fan named Mark, Cave wrote: “With all the love and respect in the world, the track is bulls*** and a grotesque mockery of what it is to be human.”
The lyrics of the song read: “I am the sinner, I am the saint/ I am the darkness, I am the light/ I am the hunter,...

Former X Factor contestant Katie Waissel has retrained as a lawyer in order to sue Simon Cowell’s Syco Entertainment for “ruining her life”.
Competing in 2010 on the popular British singing show, Waissel was considered the “most hated” contestant of the series by audiences.
At the time, she received acid attack threats online and death threats, allegedly from al-Qaeda, which she said caused her to suffer panic attacks and suicidal thoughts.
Since then, she’s seen therapists to treat post-traumatic stress disorder.
“The show ruined my life,” Waissel told The Times in a new interview.
In April 2021, she established the Owhl Foundation, a charity aiming to “oversee the welfare, human rights and liberty within the creative industry sector”.
A year later, she “fought tooth and nail” to join Bpp University in London’s postgraduate law course after deciding to retrain as a lawyer. Qualifying in July, the 36-year-old Waissel is...

Millie Bobby Brown surprised fans with a candid claim about her Stranger Things co-star Finn Wolfhard.
The Enola Holmes 2 actor, who plays Eleven in the Netflix series, took a lie detector test as part of an interview, and was asked about previous comments she made about her kissing scenes with Wolfhard.
Brown previously said of her co-star, who plays Mike Wheeler: “His kissing sucks.”
Addressing Brown’s comment, Vanity Fairasked her: “Is Finn just a lousy kisser?” – and she didn’t hold back.
“He is,” she said, without missing a beat, and the lie detector test deemed her answer to be true.
The outlet then asked her: “So he hasn’t gotten better?” to which Brown stated: “Not witH me, no”.
Again, the lie detector stated she was telling the truth.
When it was pointed out that Wolfhard would find out what she said, the 18-year-old did not seem to mind.

Turkey has ordered the arrest of one of its top pop singers for allegedly insulting the country’s Islamic high schools system, which was attended by president Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
Singer, songwriter and dancer Gulsen, 46, who is viewed by many as the Turkish Madonna, became the subject of an arrest order by an Istanbul court on Thursday 25 August, after a video clip of a comment she made about a band or crew member during a performance in April went viral on social media.
She was reportedly remanded to custody pending further investigation on a charge of "inciting people to hatred and hostility”, for saying of the band member: “He attended the Imam Hatip schools. That’s where the perversion comes from.”
Erdogan attended a religiously oriented Imam Hatip school, as did many of his associates and pillars of the country’s powerful business elite.
