Reports are circulating that the poor reception to last year’s The Flash have ended Andy Muschietti’s time directing Batman: The Brave And The Bold.
We don’t know a lot about the Batman in James Gunn’s all-new DC Universe, but we do know a couple of things.
Firstly, the Dark Knight that inhabits the new cinematic universe will be accompanied by Robin, the Boy Wonder. The teen sidekick behind the mask is said to be Damian Wayne, Batman’s own son. Apart from a few easter eggs sometimes, the character of Robin hasn’t really featured in Batman’s cinematic adventures, with the exception of 1997’s Batman & Robin, a film which wasn’t received especially well.
However, Gunn is aiming to successfully return the Dynamic Duo to the big screen in Batman: The Brave And The Bold, but according to reports, he may be looking for...

Quick, name a superhero with a more cynical perspective than Batman. Okay, sure there’s Spawn, but I meant in mainstream comics. Yeah, Punisher, but how about in DC Comics? Sure, there’s John Constantine. But I mean a character less suitable for Christmas stories. What’s that you say? Constantine once crushed the bones of St. Nicolas and snorted them into a powder? And Lobo murdered Santa?
Okay, the point is that Batman doesn’t seem like the type of guy who would make for a good Christmas story. Spider-Man can deliver presents while swinging across New York City and Superman has carried Santa’s slay more than once, but Mr. Vengeance doesn’t even like leaving Gotham. Why would he bother with the North Pole?
And yet, Batman has been at the center of several Christmas stories over the year, and some of them are pretty great. Here...

Five months on from the Doogie Kamealoha, M.D. Season 2 finale, we have an answer about the show's fate.
Unfortunately, it's not good news.
TV Line reports that the medical drama reboot has been canceled and won't return for a third season.
It's unclear at this stage whether the SAG-AFTRA and WGA strikes governed the decision to end the show, and we'll probably never get an answer.
The series was a coming-of-age dramedy inspired by the hit medical series Doogie Howser, M.D. It follows Lahela "Doogie" Kamealoha, a 16-year-old prodigy juggling a budding medical career and life as a teenager.
With the support of her caring and comical 'ohana (family) and friends, Lahela is determined to make the most of her teenage years and forge her own path.

DC Comics has some of the most iconic characters “embedded” in popular culture. One of them is Batman, but his initial supporting characters became more popular as the years passed, and one of them is Dick Grayson. The first Robin and the original Boy Wonder has been a fan-favorite for decades, especially when he assumed the mantle of Nightwing, a superhero who helps his adoptive father and protects a city located in New Jersey, Blüdhaven. Despite his popularity in comics, there haven’t been that good live-action adaptation, with HBO’s ‘Titans’ being the closest to the source material.
For years, there have been rumors that a ‘Nightwing’ movie will be developed for the ‘Snyderverse,’ but the potential project’s sporadic updates have been less frequent, especially with the DC Universe reboot. The recent confirmation of industry journalists saw that the ‘Nightwing’ project might as well be canceled – for good.

The new Paramount+ movie, Love In Taipei explores similar themes to the show Xo, Kitty, or a much mellowed-down version of Crazy Rich Asians, for 21-year-olds in Taipei, Taiwan. The movie follows a girl named Ever Wong, who is having her last summer break before she goes off to do pre-med. Instead of letting her be, her parents decide to send her to Taipei for a summer program of more studying, while all she wants to do is let off some steam and participate in a dance audition. So, as you can imagine, Ever is the fish out of water who is completely against this trip, but soon enough, she finds reason to like it. You can read our full review of Love In Taipei, or you can read on for full spoilers.

Robin, the Boy Wonder was first introduced in the pages of Batman comic books in 1940, having been created by Bill Finger and Bob Kane. The character's domino mask and green-forward costume, as well as his name, were inspired by Robin Hood. In the myth of the comics, the young Dick Grayson was a mere eight years old and worked as a traveling circus performer with his family, aka The Flying Graysons. Dick's parents were murdered by a wicked gangster who had been extorting the circus owners. Orphaned, Dick was taken in by Bruce Wayne and trained in the art of crime-fighting.
As is the natural progression for a comic book character, Robin underwent multiple transformations and iterations over the decades. When Dick Grayson aged out of the role of Boy Wonder (he eventually became a superhero of his own named Nightwing), other younger people, usually teenagers, took on the mantle of Batman's brightly colored sidekick.

My former boss still pulls Nightwing comics for me and knows that if there's a sexy variant cover, I'm probably buying it. When Dick rescues a puppy in the current "Nightwing" run from Tom Taylor and Bruno Redondo I felt like I was reading erotica created just for me -- if you've not read it, do so immediately! I know I'm not alone. Nightwing fans are legion.
One of the most interesting revelations from James Gunn and Peter Safran's reveal of their slate for DC Studios is the way they are approaching the Dark Knight. We already knew Matt Reeves was getting a sequel to "The Batman," but there's another project in the works that...

“The 1619 Project” creator Nikole Hannah-Jones needed just one word to describe what it was like to pose on the red-white-and-blue carpet with Oprah Winfrey.
“Insane!” Hannah-Jones told Variety as she made her way down the line of reporters outside the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures in Los Angeles on Thursday night. “This was a lot, but it feels amazing.”
The journalist — a “print reporter” she likes to note, meaning she’s not quite used to the “lights, camera, action” style that TV news requires — cut a striking figure on the carpet, wearing an emerald green velvet gown which set off her signature red hair, plus her signature diamond necklace with “Nikole” written in cursive and custom gold “1619” hoop earrings.
Photographers called for her to look this way, that way, and “over the shoulder” as she posed with her collaborators, executive producer and director Roger Ross Williams and showrunner Shoshana Guy.

The second installment in the original film series, "Batman Returns" exemplified the potential of combining Tim Burton's unique style of directing with the Dark Knight. Centered once again on Michael Keaton as Batman, the sequel brought several classic DC characters to the big screen. From Catwoman (Michelle Pfeiffer) to the Penguin (Danny DeVito), "Returns" was chock-full of inspired performances that took the essence of the source material and made it their own. However, there was originally a plan to debut another familiar face. At one point, the film actually included Batman's trusty sidekick, Robin, and Burton had cast the role before cutting the character altogether.
Once upon a time, Marlon Wayans was set to make his superhero debut as the Boy Wonder in Burton's "Batman" sequel. After the smash success of the 1989 film, Warner Bros. was apparently insistent on including the character and added Wayans as Robin. Despite going through the casting process,...

Back in the '30s, Bob Kane and Bill Finger's Batman was a lone "creature of the night," to quote Bruce Wayne in "Detective Comics" #27. But this creature didn't spend too long in the shadows before DC comics decided to drag him into the light. By the 1950s and '60s, Batman had become a much more light-hearted figure, battling all manner of fantastical foe.
In August of 1958, the Caped Crusader of the silver age could be found on the cover of "Batman" #117 donning his jet skates and facing off against an intergalactic antagonist in "Manhunt in Outer Space." Then there's the time Batman and Robin's dog, Bat-Hound, gained super powers in "Batman" #158. At one point Bats and the Boy Wonder were even turned into "two dimensional people" by the sinister 'Rainbow Creature' that served as the foe of Batman #134 in 1960. Increasingly reliant on these outlandish sci-fi narratives, the...

DC Comics' "Batman" #132, available February 7, 2023, is written by Chip Zdarsky and illustrated by Mike Hawthorne, Adriano Di Benedetto, with covers by Jorge Jimenez, Joe Quesada, Artgerm and Derrick Chew:
"...the mean streets of 'Gotham City' have gotten meaner as the likes of 'Harvey Dent' and 'Killer Croc' roam free, brutalizing the population. Where is 'Batman' and why hasn't he responded to the cries of a city in peril?! Can 'Bruce Wayne' find the answers before the mysterious 'Red Mask' captures him?
"Then the hunt by 'Tim Drake' for Batman continues. Will the new 'Metropolis' 'Superman', 'Jon Kent', be able to help the 'Boy Wonder' with this 'Multiversal' mystery, or will they both run afoul of an overpowered 'Toyman'...?"

“Voodoo Macbeth” credits no fewer than 10 directors and eight screenwriters, all of them students of or recent graduates from the USC School of the Cinematic Arts. And arguably the most impressive thing about the USC-produced movie — a fanciful dramatization of Orson Welles’ historic 1936 New York production of “Macbeth” with an all-Black cast — is how smoothly it plays as all of one piece. To be sure, you might quibble about certain dramatic liberties the creatives have taken to embellish real-life events — or, in some cases, to completely rewrite history covered in Orson Welles biographies and documentaries. And yes, the film overall is more diverting than stirring. Still, there is a good deal more than novelty value going for this group effort.

Remember that episode of RuPaul’s Drag Race where Jennifer Lopez was upstaged by her own dress?
The Inauguration scene-stealer paid a virtual visit to the werkroom on Friday, wishing the remaining 13 queens well ahead of their “Night of 1,000 JLos” runway. But even though the singer wasn’t physically present for the main event, she was well-represented on the main stage thanks to Ms. Kerri Colby…Carrington…Morell.

On June 27, 2020, amid the first wave of Covid-19 lockdowns and the trauma of George Floyd’s murder, Canada’s Drag Race premiered. For fans of the franchise — the spinoff aired in Canada on Crave (it would become the highest-rated original series in its history), in the U.K. on BBC3 and throughout the rest of the globe on the streamer Wow Presents Plus — it was a rare oasis from a seemingly unending onslaught of horrible news.

As Disney Plus continues down the road of rebooting and reviving as many nostalgic properties as possible — a road well-traveled and highly polished thanks to savvy spins like “The Mighty Ducks: Game Changers” and “High School Musical: The Musical: The Series” — it’s hard to begrudge the strategy when it produces something as sweet as “Doogie Kamealoha, M.D.” More than 30 years after “Doogie Howser, M.D.” first premiered on ABC, starring a teenaged Neil Patrick Harris as the iconic child doctor, Disney Plus has debuted its own thoroughly wholesome version with a Doogie as sunny as Harris’ was self-serious.
In Kourtney Kang’s update, Lahela “Doogie” Kamealoha (the very charming Peyton Elizabeth Lee) is a 16 year-old Hawaiian girl who loves the beach, her family, and a cute surfer (Alex Aiono) who doesn’t make her feel too weird about being a doctor prodigy. Lahela’s father Benny (scene-stealer Jason Scott Lee...
