The first trailer for the second season of The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power was released online yesterday afternoon, and Prime Video has now followed-up with a special "Look Inside" featurette spotlighting quite a bit of new footage.
The video takes us behind-the-scenes of the sophomore season of the Lotr prequel series, as the main cast members bring us up to speed on their respective characters.
By far the biggest talking point from the trailer is the return of Sauron, who has now taken his Elven "Annatar" form in an effort to hide out in Eregion. If the show follows the lore, the "Giver of Gifts" will befriend Celebrimbor and aid him in the making of the Nine (that were given to men) and Seven Rings (gifted to the Dwarves) of Power.
Of course, Celebrimbor and the other Elven smiths already met Sauron when he was disguised...

Whether you liked it or not, The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power became a hit series for Amazon, and it was expected that the series would be renewed for a second season. The series explored the era of Tolkien’s world before the main series, as well as the story of The Hobbit, expanding the universe we’ve already explored earlier. Now, some of the fans weren’t happy with the series in general, but the series has done fairly well and we are now waiting to see where it heads in the upcoming season. The second season will premiere later this year, and Amazon is slowly heating up for the upcoming premiere, which is what we are going to do with this report as well.

"Darkness will bind them." Here we go again! Prime Video has revealed an epic first teaser for Season 2 of The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power series. Prime Video has announced that we will get our first look at some footage from the second season of The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power tomorrow when the first teaser trailer is released online.
Production has been underway since late 2022 at Bray Studios, just outside London. Season 1 was shot in New Zealand, but the decision was made to change-up location because The UK is "considered more economical and is also where the company is establishing a multi-show hub."
The first season concluded with the reveal that the seemingly benevolent Halbrand was actually Sauron all along. The Dark Lord offered Galadriel the chance to join him once his ruse was discovered, and when she refused, he fled back to the Southlands (soon to be known as Mordor).
It was also heavily implied that "The Stranger" was really Gandalf, but this is yet to be confirmed by actor Daniel Weyman or the showrunners.

Whether you love him for his work in notable blockbusters like "Top Gun" and "Mission Impossible" or are intrigued by his captivating persona, there is no arguing that Tom Cruise is a Hollywood icon. Over the years, the actor has equally become known for his accomplishments on film as he has for his controversial viewpoints and various romances. Since starting his acting career, Cruise has been linked to several leading ladies, including Penélope Cruz and Nazanin Boniadi.
Cruise's most notable romances are with the women he had married, however. The "A Few Good Men" actor has been married three times to actors Mimi Rogers, Nicole Kidman, and Katie Holmes. “Woman. Life. Freedom.”
“Zan. Zindagi. Azadi.”
These words have been chanted around the world for months in support of Iranian women who are demanding freedom of expression and an end to the country’s oppressive rules for women.
This inspiring female-led movement was sparked by the death of Jina “Mahsa” Amini, a 22-year-old Iranian Kurdish woman who died while in custody of morality police for allegedly wearing a loose headscarf.
Iran is now experiencing its biggest wave of demonstrations in decades, with acts of protest by female demonstrators including publicly removing their hijab or cutting their hair. The cry for change has even won awards. Shervin Hajipour’s “Baraye” – Iran’s unofficial protest anthem – made history by becoming the first award-winner for a new Grammy Award category, “Best Song for Social Change.”

‘Rings of Power’ actress Nazanin Boniadi dedicated time at TheWrap’s Power Women Summit 2022 at the Fairmont Miramar hotel to shout out the Women of Iran at the “Women Who Lead: Actress Roundtable.”
The actress, who plays orc-slayer Bronwyn in Amazon Prime Video’s prequel series based on Jrr Tolkien’s legendarium, participated in the panel conversation alongside “Everything Everywhere All At Once” actress Stephanie Hsu, “Glass Onion” actress Jessica Henwick, “White Lotus” actress Sabrina Impacciatore and “L-Word” actress Jillian Mercado.
When asked about the humanity and leadership of her character and within the world of Middle Earth, Boniadi tied one of her audition scenes — which ended up in episode 5 of the show — to her work in activism.

Major spoilers ahead for "The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power."
Ismael Cruz Córdova plays Arondir the Silvan Elf serving in the Southlands in "The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power." Arondir is a foot soldier, and a new character created for the Prime Video series. He is willing to give everything to save the people he protects, despite the fact that they resent him for it. The people of the Southlands were on the wrong side of the last battle against the evil of Morgoth and Sauron, and since that day, the elves have been there, keeping a close eye on them.
Arondir has fallen in love with a human healer named Bronwyn (Nazanin Boniadi) and cares deeply for her son Theo (Tyroe Muhafidin), which could get complicated, considering their lifespans. I recently spoke to Córdova at an event in Los Angeles. He talked about...

My parents realized the dangers of raising a daughter in a social, political and legal climate that was growing increasingly oppressive, particularly towards women and girls. Although they were granted political asylum in London when I was just three weeks old, the challenges facing women in Iran became ingrained in my psyche.”

Nazanin Boniadi is calling on Hollywood to do more to bring attention to the political upheaval over women’s rights in Iran.
The “Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power” star delivered an impassioned speech on Wednesday afternoon at the Academy Women’s Luncheon presented by Chanel, held at the Academy Museum in Los Angeles.
“Iranian women have caused a paradigm shift by openly defying a system of patriarchal misogyny that has subjugated them for four decades, and they’ve gained allies across different sectors of Iranian society while doing it. Surely, we have a lot to learn from them,” she said before the crowd, which included Claire Foy, Tessa Thompson, Janicza Bravo, Kerry Condon, Gina Prince-Bythewood, Diane Warren, Marlee Matlin, Chloe Zhao, Ruth Carter, Rita Wilson and Academy president Janet Yang.

There's been a longstanding debate, before even the first episode of Amazon's "The Lord of the Rings" prequel series aired: Is "The Rings of Power" Tolkien enough? J.R.R. Tolkien's "The Lord of the Rings" is a masterstroke of high fantasy writing, a cornerstone of the genre, a paragon of world-building, and one of the most wildly influential series of all time. Most of, if not all, contemporary fantasy series owe a great deal to Tolkien, whose influence can be seen in everything from "Game of Thrones," to Hayao Miyazaki films, to "Harry Potter." His contribution to literature and pop culture is undeniable. But, depending on who you ask, the definition of what makes something Tolkien-esque changes.
Is it Tolkien's ardent environmentalism? His real-world experiences in war which left him processing his trauma through a quietly cynical fantasy saga? His academic approach to world-building? And if so, why did "The...

Evidently, you can't have a modern streaming service without an epic fantasy television show. HBO Max has "Game of Thrones" and its spinoff, "House of the Dragon," Netflix has "The Witcher," and now Amazon has "The Rings of Power." Amazon spent an astounding 465 million on season 1 of "The Rings of Power" alone. Fortunately, you can tell that a large portion of that money went where it counts the most.
Though "The Rings of Power" is nowhere near the caliber of Peter Jackson's "The Lord of the Rings" trilogy, there are moments that stand shoulder-to-shoulder with the films. Alas, there are just as many that feel like bad fan-fiction. "The Rings of Power" may be pretty, but the writing is frequently just plain bad. That's a true pity, as much of the rest of the show — the cast, the score, the CGI — is quite good, with gorgeous cinematography and an...

Spoilers below for the finale of "The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power."
Chemistry's a funny thing. It's not something you can fake, much less force, and it's equally hard to quantify. All that aside, I think we all know chemistry when we see it — and it's been a long, long time since we've seen it used to its full potential.
We live in bleak times, people. The world is, in a lot of ways, crumbling before our very eyes — but on an infinitely more superficial level, actors just don't have the chemistry they used to. There are, of course, exceptions: actors like Oscar Isaac and Daniel Kaluuya, for example, who generate enough electricity on their own to power a small town. But the characters they play aren't afforded many chances to explore that electricity outside of the bedroom, if at all. Call me a prude, but one...

After spending several weeks in the Second Age of Middle-earth, it’s time for The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power season 1 to come to an end. The Amazon Prime Video series based on J.R.R. Tolkien’s The Lord of the Rings novels and their appendices has once again introduced an evil force to Middle-earth that challenges the worlds of Men, Elves, Dwarves, and even Harfoots.
Based on the trailer for The Rings of Power episode 8 released at New York Comic Con, rumors of Sauron’s reappearance have not been greatly exaggerated. After weeks of theories about which character is actually Sauron in disguise, it seems as though his true identity (identities?) will finally be revealed in the season finale.
But the Sauron reveal isn’t the only hint in the finale trailer. A brief glimpse of a molten...

The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power finale trailer was debuted at New York Comic-Con 2022 on October 7, and the cast stopped by TV Insider and TV Guide Magazine’s Nycc suite to dish on the revealing trailer and the season at large. To no one’s surprise, the details they could share about the finale are few. In fact, there’s barely any footage from the finale in the trailer itself — it’s mostly made up of epic moments from Episodes 1-7. But what Prime Video did share is rather exciting for book fans.

A week before the “The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power” concludes its inaugural season, Amazon Prime Video debuted a fiery new trailer for the season finale that promises “all will be revealed.”
The trailer — which first screened at New York Comic-Con on Friday, as part of Prime Video’s panel for “The Rings of Power” — was light on new footage from the finale, save for a telling glimpse at what appears to be Celebrimbor’s forge, where the titular Rings of Power will eventually be created. Otherwise, the trailer recaps many of the biggest developments through the first season, while promising that while Mordor is rising, at lease some heroes “will fall” — and Sauron’s true identity will finally be revealed.
New York Comic-Con attendees got to see much more of the season finale. Showrunners J.D. Payne and Patrick McKay, currently supervising production on Season 2 of “The Rings of Power” from London,...

As the saying goes, life imitates art (and vice versa). For Nazanin Boniadi, that statement rings truer than ever before in her portrayal of Bronwyn in Amazon’s The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power.
“I knew this role resonated with me because I had been doing this activism for 14 years,” Boniadi tells The Hollywood Reporter about her dedication to fighting for women’s rights in Iran, where women experience discrimination, segregation and a lack of basic human rights under the country’s strict regime.
At the start of the series, Boniadi’s character Bronwyn is a human healer living a quiet life in a village in the Southlands of Middle-earth. She is a single mother to rebellious teenager Theo (Tyroe Muhafidin), and caught in a forbidden romance with elven soldier Arondir (Ismael Cruz Córdova). When a faction of Orcs threaten to descend on her land,...

For the unprecedented VFX demands of “The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power,” producer Ron Ames (who oversaw VFX and post-production) devised a new cloud-based processing system, leveraging tech from Amazon to wrangle the work of more than 20 visual effects companies and 1,500 artists around the globe (led by Industrial Light & Magic and Wētā FX). This allowed them to quickly and efficiently handle such epic sequences as the Sundering Seas storm in Episodes 1 and 2 and the cataclysmic destruction at the end of Episode 6.
“We had to build a new industrial system and put together teams that would allow us to do eight hours of content, 70 visual effects,” Ames told IndieWire. “We probably had 9,000 to 9,500 shots at any one time in flow somewhere in the pipeline for a final 6,500 shots.” Managing the daily workflow and shot review was VFX supervisor Jason Smith, who was referred to as “ubervisor” for his unconventional role.

It’s official: Amazon’s The Rings of Power has started filming its next season.
Production got underway on Monday at the new hub at Bray Studios just outside London.
The news follows the first official Nielsen ratings being released Thursday for the Prime Video series, showing The Rings of Power topped the streaming charts for its debut week with 1.3 billion minutes viewed (likely an Amazon series record given that only two hours were released).
The first season of the show was filmed in New Zealand over an epic stretch of 18 months during the pandemic. For season 2, which will consist of eight episodes, Amazon switched the show’s production to the U.K., which is considered more economical and is also where the company is establishing a multi-show hub.
The Rings of Power is approaching its seventh and penultimate episode of its debut season this week.

On Friday, everything changed in “Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power” when worlds collided and light battled darkness.
(Spoiler alert: This article addresses plot points from the most recent episode of “Rings of Power” on Prime Video.)
Humans, elves and Númenóreans came together in a fierce battle against Adar and the Orcs. Ismael Cruz Córdova, who plays the elf Arondir, said preparing for the battles in Episode 6, “Udûn,” was a lengthy process.
“I was training a lot for that,” he told TheWrap. “The training was ongoing for over a year, this precise episode. … You know that berserker, when I battled that tall thing – the tall orc? That was maybe two or three months training because I was very involved in creating the battle as well as that fight. And I wanted to make it a specific thing.

Spoilers for episode 6 of "The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power."
Love comes to Middle-earth! In episode 6 of "The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power," all that tension between Arondir (Ismael Cruz Córdova) and Bronwyn (Nazanin Boniadi) has finally resulted in a smooch. That's pretty chaste as today's TV series go, but the glances and stares between these two have practically melted the screen. This series is full of longing and stares that seem to mean much more than words. Let's examine Bronwyn and Arondir, and Galadriel (Morfydd Clark) and, well, a couple of people.
High fantasy -- the subgenre that is epic in its scope, often set in another world, and often filled with elves and other such creatures -- can often eschew the sexual side of things. Not always, as anyone who has read Sarah J. Maas novels can tell you, but often. Instead of jumping into bed,...

Come for the harfoots; stay for the horror. That seems to be the approach "The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power" is taking. The series just delivered its best, most action-packed episode yet with "Udûn," and it was all about stakes: making us feel the danger as an army of orcs, led by Benjen Stark Adar (Joseph Mawle), bore down on the Southlands.
Just last week, we were listening to harfoots sing a nice gentle walking song in "The Rings of Power," but they were nowhere to be seen this week. Instead, the elf Arondir (Ismael Cruz Córdova) and his forbidden human love interest, de facto village leader Bronwyn (Nazanin Boniadi), took center stage for the first part of the episode, and we got more than a bit of the old ultraviolence as they sought to defend the Southlands against the incursion of said orc army.
