Murder sparked by bizarre online posts or obsessions? There’s an app for that.
So says Investigation Discovery’s latest docuseries, Deadly Influence: The Social Media Murders, set for a June premiere on ID and Max. A new trailer (below) for the ID six-parter points to social media posts and communities getting dangerous and destructive as they lead to infamous true-crime cases.
“It can get very toxic, very quickly,” viewers are warned. Talos Films, the creators of ID’s Armie Hammer docuseries House of Hammer, are behind the Deadly Influence series, about the dark underbelly of digital age crimes, whose trails started with a venomous community or social media post.
The six-part series premieres June 3 with an episode about a self-styled Instagram “sex and fitness guru” whose break up with another high-profile influencer culminated in a violent, senseless act.

As far as superhero films are concerned, the aura of the character is not just in the powers they possess but also in their appearance. The costume, therefore, is a key component that adds to the appeal of these icons from the comic book world. From Marvel’s Spider-Man to DC’s Superman, costume designers in Hollywood have pushed the envelope to bring out the nuances of these characters.

Designer James Acheson has proved that he is the authority in this regard, having designed Tobey Maguire’s 2002 suit for Spider-Man and Henry Cavill’s Man of Steel costume. While Zack Snyder’s chequered relationship with audiences restricted some fans from appreciating the modern Superman suit, the realization that both these outfits were designed by the same person, is making them look at these costumes in a new light.

Walt Disney Studios has had a pretty abysmal year at the international box office in 2023. Between Ant-Man: Quantumania, The Little Mermaid, Elemental, Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny, and perhaps most disappointing, The Marvels, the typically successful movie studio has lost an ungodly amount of money by producing overly expensive feature films that failed to resonate among the masses and earn back their financial investments. If the studio isn’t careful and the trend continues, Disney could break another record for the all-time biggest box-office bomb on record.
Speaking of which, what would your answer be if you had to guess Disney’s most notorious financial flop of all time? New Delhi, Nov 26 (Ians) The horrifying incident of the 2008 Mumbai attacks which is well known as 26/11 was a tragic incident which has gone down in history as one of the worst and biggest terrorist attacks to ever take place.
It has been 15 years now, and while India is moving on from that nightmare it has left scars that have never fully healed. Carried out by 10 Pakistani terrorists, the attacks went on for three days with the Taj Hotel, Oberoi Hotel and Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus being the biggest targets.
Over 175 people were killed in this attack and over 300 injured. Over the years many storytellers have presented the story of these attacks from different aspects. Some have presented the story from the victims’ point of view, some from the medical fraternity, the Nsg commandos to the planning of the attacks.

After a series of rape allegations against him, Armie Hammer has made a comeback to Instagram.
The actor posted a workout video that showed him lifting weights with one hand.
“Been a lot of land mines over the last couple years… finally found one that works for me #landminepress,” he wrote, hinting at the various controversies surrounding him.
Hammer posted a follow-up story, thanking his fans who have continued to support him.
“All jokes aside, thank you all for the love and support.”
Multiple women accused Hammer of rape, emotional abuse and violence in 2021. He has also been rumored to have a number of fetishes.
The actor has denied all criminal wrongdoing. In June, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s office announced that he would not be charged with sexual assault.
In 2009, Hammer told uInterview exclusively how he played the Winklevoss twins in the film The Social Network.

Plot: A down-and-out football coach (Michael Fassbender) is sent to American Samoa to coach their infamously awful team.
Review: Inspirational soccer (football) stories are having a moment, with Next Goal Wins another underdog story comparable to Ted Lasso. While not as deep as that occasionally profound show, Taika Waititi‘s long-delayed film should put a smile on the face of anyone who likes a good underdog story a la Cool Runnings. The film is based on a documentary of the same name. It proves to be a natural fit for Waititi’s sensibilities, with him seeming more at home here with a film closer to What We Do in the Shadows or Hunt for the Wilderpeople than any of the Thor films he made or even Jojo Rabbit.
Waititi himself only plays a small on-screen role, with his local priest acting as a quasi-narrator for what would come off as a perhaps cliched inspiration fable,...

David Fincher isn’t quite ready to give a “like” to the concept of doing a sequel to his 2010 Academy Award-winning film about the founding of Facebook, The Social Network.
Fincher, 61, talked about it with The Guardian in support of his new movie with Michael Fassbender, The Killer.
“Aaron [Sorkin, The Social Network’s screenwriter] and I have talked about it, but, um… that’s a can of worms,” Fincher said, and did not elaborate.
Sorkin would be up for it. In a 2021 interview, he said, “”I think what has been going on with Facebook these last few years is a story very much worth telling, and there is a way to tell it as a follow up to The Social Network, and that’s as much as I know.”
The Social Network won Oscars for Best Adapted Screenplay, Best Film Editing, and Best Original Score at the 2011 Academy Awards. It starred Jesse Eisenberg as Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg,...

David Fincher isn’t looking to return to “The Social Network” anytime soon.
The “Killer” director told The Guardian in a wide-ranging interview that the 2010 Oscar-winning film could warrant a follow-up for fans, but that it would be a “can of worms” to untangle. Screenwriter Aaron Sorkin won the Academy Award for Best Adapted Screenplay charting the rise of Facebook through the perspective of creator Mark Zuckerberg, played by Jesse Eisenberg. Andrew Garfield, Armie Hammer, and Rooney Mara also starred.
“Aaron [Sorkin] and I have talked about it,” Fincher said, “but that’s a can of worms.”
The director instead pointed to the possible franchise of “The Killer” starring Michael Fassbender. The Netflix film, penned by Fincher’s “Se7en” screenwriter, is based on the French graphic novel series that spans 15 volumes.
“One would think [it would warrant a sequel],” Fincher said. “I’ve given up on trying to predict what people want.”
The director also shrugged...

Timothee Chalamet is set to play Bob Dylan in the forthcoming biopic A Complete Unknown, and he took inspiration from another star who delivered an Oscar-nominated performance in a musical biopic – Austin Butler.
The 32-year-old actor brought Elvis Presley to life in Elvis before joining Timothee in Dune: Part Two.
During a recent interview, Timothee opened up what he learned from Austin‘s performance. That included hiring the same team that Austin worked with while preparing for the movie.

This article contains spoilers for "Killers of the Flower Moon."
Martin Scorsese's new film "Killers of the Flower Moon," based on true events, takes place in the Osage Nation just after World War I. The Osage people have a vast reservoir of oil on their land and have, very quickly, become some of the wealthiest people on the planet.
The movie mostly surrounds a man named Ernest (Leonardo DiCaprio), a weak-willed former soldier who is just looking for a job. Ernest falls into the employ of his uncle, William King Hale (Robert De Niro), a real-life local politician who claimed to speak for the Osage people and to be a friend of the community, but who was in fact bilking the community for their money, murdering its citizens, and doing everything in his power to rearrange Osage wealth so that it flowed toward white men. You don’t look at Timothée Chalamet and think cannibal. And he’s certainly not, but the connection through Armie Hammer can’t be denied. Not only did he co-star alongside Hammer in 2017’s Call Me By Your Name, but the director of that film, Luca Guadagnino, cast Chalamet in Bones and All, a cannibal love story.
On the connection between the accusations against Armie Hammer over assault and cannibalism, Timothée Chalamet said in a recent GQ profile, “I mean, what were the chances that we’re developing this thing?” Still, he knew he couldn’t shy away from Bones and All because of this, accepting the challenge – and all of the publicity that came with – so as not to give the public perception that he was purposely avoiding the topic. “It made me feel like: Now I’ve really got to do this…Because this is actually based on a book.

Timothée Chalamet is calling out clickbait over his “Call Me by Your Name” co-star Armie Hammer. The actor shared in a recent GQ cover story that it was “disorienting” to hear of Hammer being accused by several women of sexual assault, including messages of cannibalistic fetishes. “These things end up getting clickbaited so intensely,” Chalamet told the outlet. “Disorienting is a good word.”
Allegations against Hammer were made public in 2021; formally filed charges were dismissed in an L.A. court in May 2023. Hammer was dropped from numerous films and lost representation at agencies in the wake of the accusations.
Meanwhile, Chalamet and “Call Me by Your Name” director Luca Guadagnino moved forward with a cannibal love story drama, “Bones and All.” “I mean, what were the chances that we’re developing this thing?,” Chalamet said of the film being made at the same time as the allegations against Hammer.

Timothée Chalamet is shooting down speculation once and for all that his appearance in Luca Guadagnino’s 2022 cannibal movie Bones and All had anything to do with Armie Hammer.
The show business career of Chalamet’s Call Me By Your Name co-star imploded in 2021 when a woman’s accusations of sexual assault against Hammer included alleged details of the actor’s cannibalistic fetish. (The actor denied any criminal allegations and earlier this year the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office declined to press any charges against Hammer.)
Now, in a GQ cover story, Chalamet addresses the internet speculation that his decision to star in Bones and All was a choice made ironically or, at least, insensitively.
“I mean, what were the chances that we’re developing this thing?” Chalamet said, suggesting that the movie was in development well before the Hammer allegations. Chalamet said the false reports that the movie...

In a lengthy new cover story for GQ magazine, Timothée Chalamet reveals that Tom Cruise sent him an email after they met following the production of “Dune” in which Cruise offered up a list of all the stunt trainers, motorcycle coaches and more that Chalamet could reach out to.
“He basically said, in Old Hollywood, you would be getting dance training and fight training, and nobody is going to hold you to that standard today. So it’s up to you,” Chalamet recalled. “The email was really like a war cry.”
Chalamet is a huge Cruise fan, admitting to watching “Top: Gun Maverick” eight times in theaters while in Budapest filming “Dune: Part Two” in the summer and fall of 2022. The actor even bought out a movie theater to bring the whole “Dune” cast and crew to see Cruise’s blockbuster.

Timothée Chalamet is speaking out about his experience of preparing to star in Luca Guadagnino’s cannibal love story Bones and All just as similar allegations were being leveled against Armie Hammer, his Call Me by Your Name co-star, back in 2021.

Taika Waititi, the filmmaker who won an adapted screenplay Oscar for “Jojo Rabbit” in 2020, has dropped a new trailer for his forthcoming sports-themed feature comedy “Next Goal Wins,” a mini-featurette that plays to the tune of Abba’s “Take A Chance On Me” and teases the film’s charming humor. The film opens in theaters on November 17, capping a lengthy delay for the project that wrapped production nearly four years ago. Watch the trailer above.
The Searchlight Pictures film, which Waititi co-wrote (with Iain Morris) as well as directed, is based on the 2014 documentary “Next Goal Wins” and tells the inspirational true story of the American Samoa soccer team, a squad “infamous for their brutal 31-0 FIFA loss in 2001. With the World Cup qualifiers approaching, the team hires the down-on-his-luck maverick coach Thomas Rongen (Michael Fassbender) hoping he will turn the world’s worst soccer team around.”

In 2001, the national soccer team of American Samoa played a qualifying match against Australia for the FIFA World Cup. American Samoa did not qualify, but the team did set a world record for the worst loss in an international soccer match when the game ended with a score of 31-0.
A decade later, Dutch-American soccer coach Thomas Rongen was assigned the job of bringing American Samoa's team up to the skill level needed to qualify for the 2014 FIFA World Cup. This daunting task was chronicled in the 2014 documentary "Next Goal Wins," and now director Taika Waititi has brought a dramatized version of the story to the screen in a new movie with the same title. Michael Fassbender stars as Rongen, while Waititi himself appears in a minor role as a priest on the island and also the film's narrator. David McCallum, who starred as Illya Kuryakin alongside Robert Vaughn’s Napoleon Solo in the 1960s hit spy drama “The Man From U.N.C.L.E.” and had a supporting role as pathologist Dr. Donald “Ducky” Mallard on the top-rated series “NCIS” decades later, died Monday of natural causes in New York City. He was 90.
His son Peter made a statement on behalf of his family, saying, “He was the kindest, coolest, most patient and loving father. He always put family before self. He looked forward to any chance to connect with his grandchildren, and had a unique bond with each of them. He and his youngest grandson, Whit, 9, could often be found in the corner of a room at family parties having deep philosophical conversations.

It was an extremely tight race at the box office this past weekend, but a winner has emerged. In the end, it was Valak the demon nun besting ace detective Hercule Poirot, as "The Nun II" managed to narrowly defeat "A Haunting in Venice." On one hand, we have a franchise that is now a decade old with absolutely no signs of running out of gas. On the other, we have a series that may well be taking its last gasps.
"The Nun II" pulled in $14.5 million in its second weekend to take the top spot on the charts, per The Numbers. That represents a 55% drop from its $32.6 million debut when the latest entry in The Conjuring Universe dethroned Denzel Washington's "The Equalizer 3." Meanwhile, director Kenneth Branagh's "A Haunting in Venice" had to settle for the silver medal in its debut, taking in $14.3 million. As far as these things go,...

The verdict is in.
In its second weekend, supernatural horror pic The Nun II narrowly prevailed over Kenneth Branagh’s new entry A Haunting in Venice, the third installment in his Agatha Christie-inspired movie series.
The Nun sequel took in $14.5 million, compared to $14.3 million for A Haunting in Venice, according to Monday actuals.
The race was too close to call on Sunday, when estimates from New Line/Warner Bros. showed the Nun sequel grossing $14.7 million for the weekend, while 20th Century Studios/Disney had Haunting in Venice earning $14.5 million. When Sunday projections are this close — only $200,000 separate the two films — the industry generally considers it a tie until final numbers are tallied.
A Haunting in Venice had hoped to top the chart in its debut. While the threequel opened in line with expectations, it’s still a muted start for the film, which will need strong legs to come out ahead.

Just when you thought it was safe to commit elaborate crimes, Kenneth Branagh's Hercule Poirot has returned. With his sharp mind and even sharper mustache, Branagh's take on Agatha Christie's famous detective first appeared in 2017's "Murder on the Orient Express" and returned last year in "Death on the Nile." Both were directed by Branagh and written by Michael Green, and that creative team reunited for "A Haunting in Venice," which is based on Christie's novel "The Hallowe'en Party."
This time around, Hercule Poirot is retired and living in self-imposed exile in Venice, when a séance and a murder pull him back into his old ways -- though this time with a potentially supernatural twist. Audiences seem intrigued by this horror-tinged departure from the two previous movies, with Deadline reporting that "A Haunting in Venice" grossed $5.3 million on Friday (including Thursday previews) and is expected to gross around $14 million over its opening weekend.

20th Century Studios’ new entry A Haunting in Venice — the third installment in Kenneth Branagh’s Agatha Christie-inspired movie series — is in a close race with New Line Cinema’s holdover The Nun II for the box office weekend crown.
Based on Friday business, both films are looking at a gross in the $13.5 million to $14.5 million range. Most rival studios show A Haunting prevailing.
While A Haunting in Venice is opening in line with expectations, it’s still a muted start for the movie and isn’t far ahead of the last film in the series, Death on the Nile, which opened to $12.8 million in February 2022, when the box office was still in recovery mode. The sequel was among the many films delayed because of Covid-19; it also had to contend with negative publicity surrounding star Armie Hammer (he doesn’t appear in the new film). That film’s...
