Mehdi Hasan is forming a new subscription digital media company following his exit from MSNBC.
The new company is called Zeteo, which means to “seek out,” and it bills itself as having a “strong bias for the truth and an unwavering belief in the media’s responsibility to the public.” He wrote that it will offer “unfiltered news, bold opinions.” His site offers free access to some newsletters and podcasts, with an $8 per month, or $72 per year, to all access.
Hasan departed MSNBC in January, after the network canceled his weekly show. He had been considered a rising star, but his commentary, particularly about Israel, had sparked controversy. That included a contentious interview earlier this month with Mark Regev, an adviser to Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu. The network’s decision to drop his show triggered pushback among progressives, who had seen his interviewing style and voice as unique among media personalities.

Mehdi Hasan said that he is leaving MSNBC after the network canceled his weekend show.
“I’ve decided that it’s time for me to look for a new challenge,” he said at the end of his program on Sunday.
The network shuffled its weekend lineup last year, dropping his weekend show while saying that he would remain as a commentator and fill-in anchor. With his hard hitting interview, he had been considered a rising star. But his commentary, particularly about Israel, has sparked controversy. That included a contentious interview earlier this month with Mark Regev, an adviser to Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
Sunday’s episode was his final show, and he told viewers, “As we begin 2024, with an election coming, a war still ongoing, and too many Trump trials honestly to even keep track of, and with this show going away, I’ve decided it’s time for...

Update: Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that Israeli soldiers are now in the Gaza strip, in what he characterized as the next stage of the war with Hamas.
Appearing at a press conference that was covered on major news networks, Netanyahu said that ground forces have gone into Gaza, entering the terrritory through the “gates of evil,” with the objective of eradicating Hamas’ military capabilities and to retrieve hostages.
“Our brave troops and combatants are now in Gaza or around Gaza,” he said.
He also pushed back against accusations that Israel was committing war crimes, saying that it was Hamas that was using people as “human shields,” per the BBC. He said that Israeli Defense Forces were taking steps to try to protect civilians.
Netanyahu said that the Israeli troops “are deployed all over’ the Gaza strip.
He said that they decided to expand operations in Gaza in a “very educated” manner.

Elon Musk has offered his Starlink advanced satellite system to support internationally recognized aid organizations working in Gaza, following a communications outage as Israel steps up its military campaign in the territory.
Palestinian telecommunications company Paltel announced on Friday night that all landline, mobile and internet had been lost on the Gaza Strip after the Israeli bombing destroyed remaining fiber routes serving the territory.
The Israeli military action is in response to horrific terror attacks carried out by Palestinian extreme militant group Hamas in Southern Israel on October 7, which killed 1,400 people and resulted in more than 220 people being taken hostage.
Israel’s Defense Minister Yoav Gallant said on Saturday that the military operation in Gaza Strip had entered a “new phase.”
Aid organizations, emergency services and media outlets operating on the Gaza Strip said the communications outage was severely hampering their work.

Most international TV networks and news agencies were unable to provide live coverage or video updates out of the Gaza Strip overnight due to communication outages as Israel stepped up its military campaign on the Palestinian territory.
Israel’s intensified bombing and incursion comes three weeks after Hamas’ terror attacks on Southern Israel, which killed 1,400 people and resulted in more than 220 people being abducted and taken back into Gaza as hostages.

The only outlets providing a live video signal out of the territory, were Agence France Presse news agency (Afp) and Qatar-based network Al Jazeera, with the former achieving this via a satellite truck.
