Netflix’s crime anthology series Kaleidoscope allows viewers to watch the episodes in any order, piece together clues, and solve a heist that’s inspired by true events. The just-released official trailer introduces the key players who’ve set their sights on breaking into a vault that’s weatherproof, shock-proof, and thief-proof. The payoff? 7 billion, if the team can successfully crack open the world’s most secure vault.
Netflix is hoping to lure in true crime fans and anyone with a knack for solving mysteries by dishing up the fun “watch in any order” twist. Only “White: The Heist” needs to be watched last. Otherwise, it’s up to each individual viewer to decide where to begin.
Kaleidoscope premieres on Sunday, January 1, 2023.

Courtesy of Netflix © 2022 Spanning 25 years, Kaleidoscope (previously titled Jigsaw) is an all-new anthology series following a crew of masterful thieves and their attempt to crack a seemingly unbreakable vault for the biggest payday in history. Guarded by the world’s most powerful corporate security team, and with law enforcement on the case, every episode reveals a piece of an elaborate puzzle of corruption, greed, vengeance, scheming, loyalties and betrayals. How did the crew of thieves plan it? Who gets away with it? Who can be trusted? Loosely inspired by the real-life story where seventy billion dollars in bonds went missing in downtown Manhattan during Hurricane Sandy, Kaleidoscope consists of eight episodes spanning from 24 years before the heist to 6 months after.

More than 400 prominent female writers and showrunners sent a letter today to the heads of the major studios expressing their “grave concerns” about the companies’ “lack of specific production protocols” to protect their workers in anti-abortion states.
The letters, which state that “it is unacceptable to ask any person to choose between their human rights and their employment,” also demanded that the companies “pledge to discontinue all political donations to anti-abortion candidates and political action committees immediately.”
Deadline has obtained a copy of the letter to Netflix, which organizers say was sent to top executives at Amazon Studios, AMC Networks, Apple, Disney, Lionsgate, NBCUniversal, Netflix, Paramount Global, , and Warner Bros. Discovery.
The letters, whose signers include Ava DuVernay, Shonda Rhimes, Amy Schumer, Marta Kauffman, Callie Khouri, WGA West vice president Michele Mulroney and WGA West secretary-treasurer Betsy Thomas, said that “this situation raises basic matters of equality, health, and safety in the workplace.

Fear The Walking Dead double-episode season two finale takes one step forward and frustratingly, two steps back...
This review contains spoilers.
2.14 Wrath & 2.15 North
A couple of seasons ago, my wife stopped watching The Walking Dead and thus, she’s never bothered with Fear The Walking Dead. While I was watching the so-called two-hour season finale (really, just two episodes back to back, but I’ll get to that later), she turned to me and apologised. She said, “I’m really sorry that you have to watch this for work.” Two weeks ago, she came into the room and asked me if I even liked watching the show, to which I could only manage a shrug.
It’s not that Fear The Walking Dead doesn’t have some great moments, because it does. It also has great characters, at least part of the time, and a much better...

Fear The Walking Dead season 2 returns from its summer break with a Nick-focused ordeal horror episode...
This review contains spoilers.
2.8 Grotesque
If you believe the Us news, Mexico is a country struggling with a serious gang problem. Gangs run rampant in border towns, funnelling drugs across the border, dealing in serious weaponry, and generally being so dangerous that police are non-existent and the military only comes around when they're in bullet-proof vehicles with serious weapons at their disposal. It's kind of a problem in the real world, but in a situation like The Walking Dead, wouldn't that be kind of a good thing? I mean, if the police, military, and local gang members are all armed to the teeth, surely the undead wouldn't be much of a menace if they could stop shooting at one another long enough to shoot at the real threat? Or, perhaps, you...

This week's Fear The Walking Dead is a melancholy scenario reminding its characters that nothing, nowhere and no-one is safe...
This review contains spoilers.
2.2 We All Fall Down
Fear The Walking Dead is a familiar format to anyone who has seen the original series. A group of survivors go from place to place looking for somewhere to settle down for a little bit, avoiding dangers both undead and living in the process. However, where The Walking Dead dropped us right into the post-apocalypse, Fear The Walking Dead is taking things from a different perspective. We're not coming across groups of hardened survivors, we're dealing with people who may or may not be waiting for the military to come sweeping in with tanks and guns to wipe the rotters off the face of the earth and put humanity back on top of the food chain.

All things come to an end and the true death arrived for HBO’s True Blood earlier this year. This week, HBO Home Entertainment offers up The Complete Seventh Season along with a mammoth complete series box set. In looking back on the series, it probably hung around a little longer than necessary, especially as things spiraled from over-the-top to insane crazy after series creator Alan Ball left.
The seventy episodes veered further and further from Charlaine Harris’s The Southern Vampire Mysteries novels and even she wrapped up her prose stories recognizing the time had come.
Bon Temps is under attack as things open up, picking up where season six dropped us. The Hep V Vampires are running amuck as many of our favorite supporting characters have been threatened. Pam continues her hunt for Eric leaving Sookie as the calming voice of reason and she’s not feeling all that steady.

True Blood, Season 7, Episode 8, “Almost Home”
Written by Kate Barnow
Directed by Jesse Warn
Airs Sundays at 9pm Est on HBO
On this week’s True Blood, Sookie seeks the newfound Hep-v cure for Bill, Hoyt reunites with Jessica, Tara makes peace with her mother, and Pam and Eric learn a few business tips.
Last week’s True Blood was very slow in a dull way, but “Almost Home” rectified last week’s lack of intriguing story by simultaneously wrapping up a few loose story threads, tossing in several heavily-reflective character moments, and setting up the season’s–and the series’s–final two episodes.
The best moments of the episode include Hoyt whose return to Bon Temps is filled with plenty of emotion and sweetly subtle character development. Still clueless about his past, Hoyt serves mostly as the catalyst for Jessica and Jason to reevaluate where they are in...

Entertainment Weekly: Eric is finally healed.
Kate Barnow: This is where we find out that Eric Northman is not leaving us, and we’ve been teasing this since basically episode 10 of last season, so it is a big moment. The sequence got pared down a bit.

True Blood, Season 7, Episode 2, “I Found You”
Written by Kate Barnow
Directed by Howard Deutch
Airs Sundays at 9pm Est on HBO
On this week’s True Blood, Sookie leads an investigation into neighboring town Saint Alice, the Bon Temps townspeople start a mob, Arlene and Holly attempt to escape, and Pam finally finds her maker.
Proving last week’s stellar season opener wasn’t a fluke, “I Found You” is an excellent follow-up episode. Despite the supernatural nature of the show, True Blood‘s final season is unfolding with a heavy dose of realism–the actions and emotions of the characters are right on point, and even the brief touches of humor feel natural and earned among so much horror and dread.
In a move both unsurprising and terrifying, the townspeople of Bon Temps almost immediately form a mob once they find themselves temporarily leaderless. This plot move makes...

Spike Jonze’s philosophical sci-fi love story Her, and Billy Ray’s harrowing true-life hostage saga Captain Phillips earned best original and adapted screenplays, respectively, from the Writers Guild Awards on Saturday.
In the original category, Her was facing its four rivals for the Oscar: American Hustle, Blue Jasmine, Dallas Buyers Club, and Nebraska, so its victory can be seen as a strong harbinger of where the Academy Award could go on March 2. In anecdotal sampling of Academy members, EW’s Prize Fighter has also determined that Her is far and away the front-runner for this category.

Tonight, the Writers Guild of America presented their awards for excellence in film and television for 2013. All eyes were on their top two categories, Original Screenplay and Adapted Screenplay, and while the former went to Spike Jonze’s incredible Her as expected, the latter went to Billy Ray’s Captain Phillips, which was completely out of the blue.
Her was widely expected to win due to its immense popularity throughout awards season, taking 20 screenplay wins from groups such as the HFPA and Bfca. However, Captain Phillips was a complete surprise given that it had not managed to win a single screenplay award prior to tonight, but as I’ve said before, it was going to be hard to tell which nominee was the favorite given the fact that the disqualified 12 Years a Slave has been the clear frontrunner throughout the season. However, it’s still quite shocking that Before Midnight...

You’ve had almost a week now; have you recovered from the True Blood Season 6 finale? It certainly was a mixed bag, wasn’t it? From the drop dead gorgeous snowy Swedish mountaintops, to six months later and Bellefleur’s, “Bright Eyes” Alcide without the ridiculous hairpiece, and the approaching horde, there certainly was something for nearly every True Blood fan.
Here to discuss it further are writer Kate Barnow and director Scott Winant, and some great clips:
Featurette: True Blood – Season 6: Inside the Episode #10
“All I know is they look domesticated, and they seem to love each other, so that can’t possibly last…” Yup, sounds about right. Personally, I’m presuming that Pam will have rescued Eric mid-burn and whisked him off somewhere. Because I cannot imagine a True Blood without Eric Northman. What are your predictions for Season 7? True Blood, Season 6 – Episode 10: “Radioactive”
Directed by Scott Winant
Written by Kate Barnow
Returns Summer 2014 to HBO
Not too much longer than halfway into “Radioactive,” True Blood does a fast-forward in its timeline. For a series that usually picks up each new episode almost immediately after the previous episode, this shift seems a bit strange. Is it executed really poorly? Not exactly. But it makes you wonder if there wasn’t a way to end season six differently and move all of the “six months later” material to the beginning of next season. We’ve seen True Blood do that in the past when Sookie’s lost time in the Fey world, and even though the story wasn’t great around that time, that timeshift offered an interesting structure for the season as we got to see what had changed since Sookie had been away. Here, we see the...

True Blood, Season 6: Episode 7 – “In the Evening”
Directed by Scott Winant
Written by Kate Barnow
Airs Sunday nights at 9 on HBO
When some reviewers – including myself – anticipated some of the stagnancy that might be felt by viewers in this current season of True Blood, one of the more likely sources of conflict was the cast of this show and just how immortal they seem to be (you know, despite that fact that some of the characters are immortal). It’s probably not accurate to say that True Blood has quelled that issue, but it took a huge stride in that direction when, last week, Terry bit the bullet. “In the Evening” brings another death – a true death – to one of True Blood‘s supporting characters: Nora. And this is where the “probably not accurate” comes into play, because Nora’s death is only meaningful to us in terms of...

“In The Evening”
Written By: Kate Barnow
Directed By: Scott Winant
Original Airdate: 28 July 2013
In This Episode...
Eric leaves Willa in the vampire prison so she can warn Pam, Tara, and Jessica about the tainted Tru Blood. He promises to return for her, and takes Nora to Bill. He flat-out begs Bill to give Nora his blood, but Nora doesn’t want it and Bill doesn’t want to force it on her. As Nora becomes sicker, Bill finally forces some of his blood into her, but it doesn’t help. Eric begs again, and says that he believes Bill is divine. He tells Eric of Warlow and how his blood allows him to walk in daylight, and promises to bring back some more Warlow blood. (Wouldn’t any fairy blood do?) Bill doesn’t make it back on time, and Nora dies in Eric’s arms.

The political drama "House of Cards," a remake of a British miniseries, makes its big premiere today. What network is it on? Well, it's not really on television. In the vein of pop classic "Video Killed the Radio Star," executive producer David Fincher and actor Kevin Spacey are attempting to, in a sense, "kill" the television medium.
"House of Cards" has cut out the middle man and partnered with the top internet video streaming company, Netflix. We got that, but what day will each new episode be released? Umm, today. Netflix has decided to put all of its "Cards" on the table at once. They are releasing the 13 episode series simultaneous, giving the viewer the option of watching it on their own schedule.
At the red carpet premiere for the series, actress Kristen Connolly says that the format is "reflective of the way people watch TV now.

That's rarely ever the case. Certainly not for most humans, though Eric Northman confides in Sookie just what he'd regret most if he met his true end. Right before, that is, he has a monumental change of heart about just what matters most in this world. Is it a matter of love? Or a matter of saving one's own skin and their children's? Finch and directed by Michael Lehmann, much of the episode delved into the backstories of several characters, most notably Sookie, Sam, Tara, and Jason,...

TV network HBO and Idw Publishing have teamed up to launch a new comic book based on hit series True Blood, it was announced today.
The comic has been developed with the show's creator Alan Ball, who said: "I am very excited to be introducing the True Blood comic book series. These graphic novels are a great companion to the series and we are pleased that the popularity of the show is allowing it to branch out into different mediums."
The True Blood comics will explore the ongoing adventures of telepathic heroine Sookie Stackhouse, her vampire lover Bill Compton, best friend Tara Thornton, enigmatic and ancient vampire sheriff Eric Northman, loyal boss Sam Merlotte, brother Jason Stackhouse, perpetual-virgin vampire Jessica, and the flamboyant cook Lafayette Reynolds.
The comic finds Sookie and many other Bon Temps locals waiting in Merlotte's bar for a strangely portentous raging storm to subside.

I guess I just don't get the whole True Blood phenomenon. I tried watching the first season after virtually everyone I know proclaimed it to be the greatest show ever, but what I saw was a turgid soap opera buoyed by a morose pace and largely unlikable characters. Clearly, though, I'm in the minority, as stories like this one prove.
Yep, there's a True Blood comic en route from Idw Publishing and HBO. If you're one of the lucky sods trekking out to the San Diego Comic Con this week, you just might be able to snag yourself an exclusive copy!

HBO's 'True Blood' has made vampires and werewolves more sexy than geeky. That pendulum may swing the other way, now that there's a 'True Blood' comic book.
Reuters reports that the comic series, which was set to be introduced under multiple collector covers on Wednesday at the 2010 edition of Comic-Con in San Diego, will serve as a companion to the TV series.
The plot, devised by series creator Alan Ball and series writers Elisabeth Finch and Kate Barnow, will unfold as a side story to the action on the show and will feature most of the regular characters, including Sookie, Bill, Eric, Tara, Sam, Jason, and Lafayette. (Spoilers follow.)
