The CW is teaming up with Warner Bros. Domestic Television Distribution to create a court- and comedy-themed afternoon programming block.
The daily two-hour block, debuting Sept. 22, will feature Telepictures Prods.' new hourlong court show "Judge Jeanine Pirro" at 3 p.m., followed by the Warner Bros. Television off-net comedies "The Wayans Bros". at 4 p.m. and "The Jamie Foxx Show" at 4:30 p.m.
"Pirro" is presided over by Jeanine Pirro, a regular contributor to Fox News Channel, former Westchester County (N.Y.) district attorney and county judge and author. The strip, which has been in the works for several months, will originate from Chicago.
Greg Mathis of Telepictures' court show "Judge Mathis" will serve as executive consultant on the show, while "Mathis" exec producer Bo Banks will serve in that same capacity on "Pirro".
"By pairing 'Judge Jeanine Pirro' with these two successful comedies, we will be providing programming from 3-4 p.m. that is very compatible with the daytime lineup of CW affiliates, and the two sitcoms will provide a good transition to the comedy blocks that affiliates run at 5 p.m.," CW COO John Maatta said.

The CW has canceled its experimental CW Now, an entertainment newsmagazine originally presented without commercial interruption upon its launch in the fall. CW Now relied heavily on product placement, with MediaVest buying all the sponsorships in the show, which failed to strike a chord with the network's target demo of young adults.
Two new episodes are set to air in the show's 7 p.m. Sunday time slot through Feb. 24 (for a total of 21 aired episodes); after that, CW Now will be replaced by America's Next Top Model repeats.
"While you always wish the ratings were higher, we are proud of 'CW Now' and how it improved every week from a creative standpoint," CW COO John Maatta said in a statement. "The program was a highly collaborative endeavor, and you can't put a price tag on what we learned from this project." He added that CW execs view the show as "a success on numerous levels" at a time when all networks are trying to come up with new ways to work with advertisers.

The CW is the latest broadcast network to get out of the Saturday morning kids business.
The network has inked a five-year deal with 4Kids Entertainment, which will be supplying five hours of children's programming to air on Saturdays on the CW.
Under the pact, which starts in the 2008-09 broadcast season, 4Kids will market the block and sell the national commercial advertising for it, sharing revenue with the network.
"The last number of years have seen significant consolidation in the world of kids' programming," CW COO John Maatta said.
4Kids already supplies Fox's Saturday morning kids programming. Fox recently exercised an option to extend its deal with 4Kids through the end of the 2008-09 season. CBS' Saturday morning block is handled by DIC Entertainment. NBC is running its Saturday kids block in conjunction with ION Media Networks.
"We have tremendous faith in Saturday morning kids television," said Norman Grossfeld, president of 4Kids subsidiary 4Kids Prods.
4Kids has collaborated with Warner Bros., which owns the CW with CBS, licensing to the studio such TV series and movies as "Pokemon" and "Yu-Gi-Oh!"
The proliferation of kids programming on home video and 24-hour cable channels has put a squeeze on the broadcast network's Saturday morning kids blocks.
