The Queen Vic fire will have a "huge" long-lasting effect on EastEnders, according to Lee Salisbury, who directed the episodes. In an interview with Digital Spy, Salisbury revealed that the shock plot - which will also tie in with Barbara Windsor's exit from the soap - would affect most of the characters. "Oh yeah, it'll be huge," he said. "On the night that it happens, it's a huge effect - we had literally every cast member there, so almost every character is involved in the fire." Emmerdale actress Siân Reeves has promised that the soap's forthcoming fire scenes will look "fantastic" on screen. The star's unstable character Sally Spode will be seen starting a blaze at the village church next week, trapping her love rival Laurel Thomas (Charlotte Bellamy) inside. Sally's shocking behaviour is the latest twist in a storyline which has followed the Dales newcomer as she schemes to take Laurel's place in the affections of vicar Ashley (John Middleton).
