I can’t remember watching a home invasion horror movie for a long time and then two come along at once. First, I watched By Night’s End and then The Owners comes along… I wouldn’t say it’s a sub genre I love but it has produced some really great movies – the likes of The Strangers, You’re Next, Don’t Breathe, Inside and Hush are all highly entertaining.
There is a tendency for lower budget home invasion offerings to go down the same path and stick to ideas that have been used time and time again. Meaning that many feel very samey. The Owners, at the very least, does try to do things a little bit different. So much so, that at about the...

Selection by Frightfest is a pretty good recommendation for a horror film. This one promises crime as well, and a tense stand-off with the promise of action - but let's face it, that's not why most people will watch it. Its biggest selling point is that people want to see who will win in a fight between Doctor Who and Arya Stark.
Seventh Doctor Sylvester McCoy plays Richard Huggins, the local Gp in a small English town, who lives in a handsome detached house with his beloved wife Ellen (Rita Tushingham), who is beginning to succumb to dementia.. Game Of Thrones alumna Maisie Williams plays Mary, a local girl whose only mistake is having become attached to low quality boyfriend Nathan (Ian Kenny) when, to be fair, there probably aren't many good quality boyfriend candidates around. Certainly not his friend Terry (Andrew Ellis) who was married to her twin sister.

After devoting a decade of her life to HBO’s global phenomenon, Game of Thrones, Maisie Williams is going indie. Writer/director Julius Berg's feature film debut is an unexpectedly fun thriller that bucks expectations.
The Owners stars Jake Curran, Andrew Ellis and Ian Kenny as Gaz, Terry and Nathan, a trio of friends who hatch a plan to break into the home of a local wealthy doctor, crack the safe and get away with the loot. It's a full-proof plan: they know when the doctor and his wife will be way, they know where the safe is and they have a safe cracker but the plan starts to fall apart almost immediately. Mary, (Maisie Williams), Nathan's girlfriend, comes looking for him and causing all sorts of trouble, the safe isn't the type that the crew came prepared to crack and just as the would-be thieves come up with a new plan to get the loot, they're faced with the fact that the meek docto...

A safe full of cash in a remote, empty house seems like the perfect score for Mary and her friends but when the owners, an older couple, come home early, the seemingly easy hit turns into a bit of a nightmare.
Based on a comic book from acclaimed artist Hermann and Yves H., The Owners tars "Game of Thrones" star Maisie Williams, "Dublin Murders" star Ian Kenny and is adapted for the screen and directed by French director Julius Berg. Berg has been working in TV for a decade and his latest series, "The Forest" is currently streaming on Netflix.

"I've told you a thousand times... shoes off at the door!" Rlje Films has released the trailer for a horror thriller titled The Owners, marking the feature directorial debut of French filmmaker Julius Berg. A group of friends think they find an easy score at an empty house with a safe full of cash. But when the owners, an elderly couple, come home early, the tables are suddenly turned. Conceptually this looks like the typical rob-a-big-house-that-looks-empty horror concept mashed up with The Visit. This nice elderly couple are actually maniacs who are going to torture you! Watch out, they are not so nice after all... The Owners stars Maisie Williams, with Sylvester McCoy and Rita Tushingham as the charming Huggins, plus Ian Kenny, Jake Curran, Andrew Ellis, and Stacha Hicks. This definitely looks creepy! But mostly for horror fans. Here's the first official trailer (+ poster) for Julius Berg's The Owners,...

Filming is already underway on the set of Phil Lord and Chris Miller’s young Han Solo movie, but over the weekend Variety brought word of a last-minute recruit: Sing Street‘s Ian Kenny.
In a fashion that has become typical of Disney’s rejuvenated Star Wars universe, a thick veil of secrecy currently clouds Kenny’s mystery character, but TV viewers will no doubt recognize him from his time spent on Irish soap opera Fair City. Now, he’s trading the cobbled streets of Dublin for a galaxy far, far away. It’s a journey he’ll be making with Alden Ehrenreich, Emilia Clarke, Woody Harrelson, Donald Glover, Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Thandie Newton, Michael Kenneth Williams and Joonas Suotamo – the latter of whom doubled as the lovable Wookiee in Star War: The Force Awakens. And though there are many questions currently lingering over the Han Solo anthology film, its ensemble...

With production currently underway on the as yet untitled LucasFilm Han Solo movie, the list of impressive names on the cast list is growing bigger by the day. Today’s reveal has seen Sing Street breakthrough artist, Ian Kenny, join the likes of Woody Harrelson and Donald Glover in the film which is due for release in 2018.
However, Ian Kenny may have been revealed as another new cast member details of the character he may take on are being firmly kept under wraps until we are deemed worthy of this snippet of information.
The Dublin star played Tj Deegan in Fair City for six years before departing in 2012 and went on to receive high praise for his performance as antagonist Barry in last year’s John Carney hit Sing Street, which in our opinion was robbed of even a nomination for best original song at this year’s Oscars.

The sweet, sweet smell of nostalgia wafts through the multiplex this weekend with the release of writer/director John (Once) Carney’s ode to the 1980’s. Really the later part of that decade when kids could switch over to the cable channel MTV and actually watch music videos of their favorite singers and bands (even stodgy old broadcast dinosaur NBC got on board for “Friday Night Videos” after Johnny Carson signed off). Aspiring rock stars sat down to the keyboard and the sketch/notepad to create a new sound and look that would send them to stardom, not just here in the states but all over the world. Even in a modest apartment, oops flat, in Dublin. This is the setting for a sweet, tuneful coming of age story that occurs on Sing Street.
