You guys, this weekend is Bonkers! We have packed it full of fun, I don’t know how you’re gonna schedule all this fun! The Indiana Jones Trilogy (yes, trilogy) Feast is 100% sold out at this point, so if you’re going to that, your Sunday is already tied up! If not, however, one of our favorite cult actresses, Susan Tyrrell is returning to the Alamo after she was here last at our Colorado St. closing night festivities! Susu will be in attendance at the screening of Forbidden Zone and then moving over to The Highball where her artwork, Susan Tyrrell’S Eyesores will be displayed and The Octopus Project will be dropping some amazing music! An event not to be missed for sure. But! If you just can’t bear to drive to S. Lamar, and would really rather be downtown, we...

The Alamo Guide
for April 2nd, 2010
What a week! First of all, if you got caught in the fiasco of the ticketing site for Weird Al last Friday, we’d like to apologize. We greatly underestimated how excited people were about this event, and it sold out in mere minutes, completely destroying the ticket server. We are, however, in talks with Weird Al’s posse about the possibilities of a second show, so sit tight and we’ll give you details as they come!
Lately, it has been crazy gorgeous outside. I guess this is the “nice” weather that comes around once a year. We’re taking advantage of it, this week specifically. We have two outdoor screenings! Tomorrow (Thursday), we’ve partnered with Amoa again to screen Nashville at the beautiful Laguna Gloria! Saturday, Tim and Karrie League are opening their home for a MS150 BeneFeast screening of Triplets Of Belleville!

The Alamo Guide
for March 18th, 2010 While SXSW is slowly filtering out of our theaters and instead, flooding the music venues and rent-a-bars that pop up around town, we are beginning to resume a state of normality. We have a few new releases this weekend (The Runaways – with the director live in person – and The Bounty Hunter) and we’re also back with our special programming!Master Pancake is doing One Final Weekend of Goldfinger before they turn their attention to Mr. Gibson in Braveheart. We were all very saddened to hear we lost a Corey, so we decided to put up a couple Lost Boys Tribute Shows this week (my vote was for Prayer Of The Rollerboys, but I’ll just watch that at home!). Also, if you got shut out of SXSW this year by lack of money or other reasons, we’ve chosen a few of our...

The Alamo Guide
for March 11th, 2010
Oh, SXSW… it’s a rocky relationship, you and I. We have a lot of fun together, you give me free booze and barbeque, keep me out way past my bedtime, get me home safely (most of the time), and then you take me out the next day. Then, near the end of the week, we start fighting. “I’m tired!” I say. “I don’t want your free tacos!” I say (and then eat three anyway). “My stomach has been f-ed up for Days, I don’t want your Southern Comfort!” and then two days later you’re gone. SXSW does this to all of us. It keeps the Alamo Ritz so busy that we have to nix all specialty programming for a week so we can show new movies, so keep that in mind this week.

The Alamo Guide
for January 21st, 2010
I would just like to inform the general public that after the Alamo Iron Chef show last night, our own John Bullington came out the victor! However, Parkside still remains delicious. They have some wicked seared foie gras that I can’t seem to stop ordering everytime I go there.
We’ve got a whole buncha goodies coming up this week! First of all, A Town Called Panic finally opens this Friday, and we’ve been waiting for the day every since we saw it at Fantastic Fest. It’s a great time so def check it out if you can. Also, if you’ve been following this whole Leno vs. Conan debacle, you may be interested to know that we’re showing the Final Episode Of The Tonight Show With Conan O’Brien. We’re definitely Team Coco. Our Valentine’S Day Feasts are selling strong,...

The Alamo Guide
for January 8th, 2010
Apologies for the late email this week. I was celebrating 2010 out of town, and then when I got home I was distracted by the intensity of the Texas vs. Alabama game. Bummerrrr. Oh well. We can all drown our sorrows in some Alamo fun this weekend! First of all, The Monster Squad screening was so popular that we added a second one later that night so there’s still a chance to see the Cast And Creators In Attendance! Youth In Revolt, The Imaginarium Of Doctor Parnassus, and Crazy Heart all open up this weekend. Girlie Night presents Romy & Michele’S High School Reunion on Tuesday, so get your business women outfits ready (but please have your fake job description ready)! If you’re a foodie and love our Alamo feasts, The Alamo Iron Chef competition returns with a battle between Alamo kitchen and...

The Alamo Guide
for December 10th, 2009 If you’re at the S. Lamar theater this weekend, and you see a bunch of groggy ass, smelly, crazy-looking people wandering out of the theater around noon on Sunday, don’t worry. They won’t hurt you, they will have just sat through a full 24 hours plus of movies and they’ll be in desperate need of sleep. I’ll be one of them. It’ll be awesomely exhausting! Aside from that, if you got tickets already (if not, toooo bad), you can see the folks from Broken Lizard with their newest film The Slammin’ Salmon, but the most important thing that you should do is Go See Bad Lieutenant: Port Of Call New Orleans!!! Yes, the name is long, and the trailer makes it look kind of silly, but the hype over at Alamo Headquarters is ridiculous and the few people in...

It’s totally fall, you guys! I know this, because my allergies have exploded with this cold front, it was 40 something degrees last night, And I Get To Eat Turkey Next Thursday! Oh so much turkey will I eat! With extra dressing and gravy. I will be doing this with my biological family, which, if you consider the other options we have at the Alamo, actually sounds pretty boring. While I’ll be way too full falling asleep staring at the football game that I don’t really care about on my grandparents couch, You can be way too full, falling asleep, staring at the Ut vs A&M football game that you probably Do care about at the Alamo Ritz! Or you can be watching any movie at any of our theaters, because our annual tradition still stands. We’ll be your second...
