Jake Richter(1964-2012)
- Additional Crew
Jake Richter was born in Queens, New York, as the son of immigrants who
had recently defected from Czechoslovakia to escape Communism. His
father Ota was and still is a well known photographer, as well as the
producer and director of several movies. His mother Jarmila is an
artist and graphics designer. Both parents now reside in Prague in the
Czech Republic.
Jake spent the first four years of his life in Queens and then on Long Island before moving to Germany. At age 11, he returned to the U.S., living first in Eugene, Oregon, then Southern Florida, before ending up in Wellesley, Massachusetts, where he finished high school.
He continued on to Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute to pursue a degree in Computer Science with a minor in German, meanwhile also pursuing visual arts with respect to photography, video game development, and computer graphics technology, combining several of these with his passion for fantasy and science fiction stories and movies.
During his early college years, Jake contributed as a creative consultant to the movie Skullduggery, shot in Toronto, Canada. And later, similar services were provided for the movie Oklahoma Smugglers.
Since then Jake has expanded his horizons with a blend of creative and technical works ranging from digital painting, nature photography, and journalism to being a computer graphics programmer, web site developer, and U.S. registered patent agent.
As of 1997, Jake moved to the Caribbean island of Bonaire with his family and continues to call Bonaire home, using the wonders of the Internet to pursue various projects, including one documenting the education of his children via travel, under the working title "The Traveling Richters".
