Captain America 4 has a new moniker.
Marvel Studios announced Tuesday morning via its Twitter account that the fourth Captain America installment — and the first to feature star Anthony Mackie as the lead — is now called Brave New World.
The news came alongside a behind-the-scenes photo of stars Mackie and Harrison Ford. Last July, the studio announced the film was originally subtitled New World Order. The release date has been set for May 3, 2024.

While they didn’t unveil the entire cast of “The Fantastic Four,” or whatever it is fans are griping about at the moment, Marvel Studios did reign over Disney’s D23 Expo much as they did at San Diego Comic-Con, earlier this summer, basically owning the entire affair yet again.
And let’s face it, there were plenty of announcements. Marvel’s Kevin Feige did announce some interesting casting additions for “Captain America: New World Order” that will see Anthony Mackie‘s Sam Wilson take over the Captain American mantle on the big screen for the first time after taking over as owner of the shield and adopting a brand new suit in “The Falcon & The Winter Soldier.

"I feel as though you've been here before... the wooden boy with the borrowed soul." Ah wow! Netflix has revealed the first full-length official trailer for Pinocchio, a stunning new stop-motion animated film from Guillermo del Toro. This looks magnificent! Way better than Disney's new live-action movie with Tom Hanks. The film is set to arrive on Netflix in December at the end of this year with a theatrical release in November. GdT reinvents Carlo Collodi's classic tale of the wooden marionette who is magically brought to life in order to mend the heart of a grieving woodcarver named Geppetto. This stop-motion musical follows the mischievous & disobedient adventures of Pinocchio in his pursuit of a place in the world. Directed by del Toro & Mark Gustafson, the film features an all-star voice cast with Ewan McGregor as Cricket, David Bradley as Geppetto, and Gregory Mann as Pinocchio. Along with Finn Wolfhard,...

Joel and Ethan Coen have built a reputation as two of the most visionary and idiosyncratic filmmakers working today. Dabbling in Film Noir to screwball comedy, from off-beat indies to big-budget studio pieces, their films are adored by critics and audiences alike. Choosing our favourite Coen Bros. film isn’t an easy task, but we asked our staff to rank their films from favourite to least favourite. The results were interesting, with Fargo running away with first place, and two of their 16 films not producing enough votes to justify making the cut (The Lady Killers, Intolerable Cruelty). Daniel Day-Lewis gives a towering performance in Steven Spielberg's bravest picture to date
Steven Spielberg has made more obviously entertaining and more emotionally seductive movies than Lincoln, but this is for him the most brave and, for the audience, most demanding picture in the 40 years since his emergence as a major director. It's a film about statesmanship, politics, the creation of the world's greatest democracy, and it's concerned with what we can learn from the study and contemplation of history. Spielberg and his eloquent screenwriter, the playwright Tony Kushner, handle these themes with flair, imagination and vitality, and Daniel Day-Lewis embodies them with an indelible intelligence as the 16th president of the United States

Steven Spielberg's Lincoln expands nationwide this week with big time Oscar buzz after a very successful one week limited run in 11 major markets. It makes sense that people would be talking awards with with the names attached to this film. Past Oscar winners and nominees including Spielberg, Daniel Day-Lewis, Sally Field, Tommy Lee Jones and Pulitzer Prize winning playwright Tony Kushner are all in the running for major awards, but I hold out hope for one more name to be added to the list... An all time favorite of mine, James Spader. Recently Spader has been linked to small screen roles in shows like "The Practice" and "Boston Legal" and his wild stint last year on "The Office", but he originally made his name as a film actor in films ranging from Steven Soderbergh's sex, lies and videotape to his role as Mr. Grey in Secretary. In Lincoln,...

Directed by: Steven Spielberg
Cast: Daniel Day-Lewis, Sally Field, David Strathairn, Tommy Lee Jones, James Spader, Joseph-Gordon Levitt
Running Time: 2 hrs 30 mins
Rating: PG-13
Release Date: November 9, 2012
Plot: As the Civil War continues, President Lincoln (Day-Lewis) struggles to emancipate the slaves with ratifying the 13th Amendment.

For most of the world the name most associated with the United States presidency is Abraham Lincoln. He could easily be considered a superstar of American history. His face is on the coins and currency we use almost everyday. His monument and statue in the nation’s capitol are high on the must see lists of visitors. He is part of the presidential quartet on Mount Rushmore. Scores of schools and towns share his name (even a line of automaobiles). Since the invention of cinema Lincoln as been portrayed by many, many actors (even Bugs Bunny donned the stove-pipe hat and beard in Southern Fried Rabbit). Just earlier this year he was an action hero in the fantastical Abraham Lincoln, Vampire Hunter. Everyone knows that somber iconic image, but how much do we really know about the flesh and blood human being? It turns out that one of America’s...

Abraham Lincoln was a hell of a president, and this year he's being treated as such. In 2012 alone he's had two movies dedicated to his life. The first, "Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter," was a mostly fictional account (I think) about the president's tireless campaign against undead bloodsuckers. The second, Steven Spielberg's "Lincoln" (opening wide this week), takes a more factual approach to his life, focusing on the last four months of his presidency and his attempts to get the thirteenth Amendment to the Constitution ratified. As far as defining moments in the American character go, few are as important as this. But is this biographical tale, anchored by a lead performance by Daniel Day-Lewis in the title role, a thrilling dip into the past or a really long History Channel special? Let's find out. Pro: Daniel Day-Lewis Yes, his Lincoln voice is sort of weird, but considering the amount...

Chicago – There is an argument that Steven Spielberg is the most “American” of directors, at least in his generation. He deftly and brilliantly teams up with playwright Tony Kushner and actor Daniel Day-Lewis to humanize and realize our 16th president in “Lincoln.”
Rating: 5.0/5.0
By focusing on a single month in Abraham Lincoln’s tumultuous administration, at a tipping point in both American history and the Civil War, “Lincoln” boldly brings to life an era that in previous incarnations – both in textbooks and movies – has been portrayed as starchy and formal. In this presentation, Abraham Lincoln is a living, breathing flesh-and-blood man, with an uncanny ability to make the right decisions at a time when the right decisions are desperately necessary. The process of his strategy for passing a very political piece of legislation is fascinating to experience, and with every supporting actor – plus a career defining performance by Sally Field...

Steven Spielberg took such a long road towards Lincoln that he lost his leading actor and it once seemed as if the film might never get made. The long-attached Liam Neeson was forced to bow out when Spielberg was finally ready to tackle the life of our sixteenth President, resulting in the unlikely choice of actor Daniel Day-Lewis as his replacement. Day-Lewis not only lacked the towering presence that Neeson shared with Lincoln, but the deep and commanding voice the man was known for. Or so we thought. The actor’s meticulous research revealed that Lincoln’s voice was rather soft and gentle and he was known to be a man with a good sense of humor. He was also a manipulator, forced to play tricky political games with his rivals and critics so that the now historical 13th Amendment abolishing slavery could be passed.

Steven Spielberg's biopic of the 16th Us president starring Daniel Day-Lewis was the secret screening at the New York film festival last night. Viewers saw an effective if uneven portrait of a canny politician
Politics was a dirty business even in the 19th century, and even when changing history for the better, as the best moments of Lincoln wittily and elegantly prove. Steven Spielberg's behemoth of a new film, which premiered in unfinished form at the New York film festival Monday night, has a title that suggests a sweeping portrait of the great 16th American president. But the film is largely too content depicting Abraham Lincoln as an all-knowing icon, and even with Daniel Day-Lewis's beautifully measured (and surprisingly soft-spoken) performance, Lincoln often recedes to the background of the very uneven movie that bears his name.

During the tonight’s first presidential debate extended preview for Steven Spielberg‘s Lincoln was added by Dreamworks-Disney.
The studios were no doubt looking to capitalize on the turnout by throwing out a new promotional clip to the masses.
This full 2-minutes spot titled ‘Unite’ highlights that no president has had it easy, and when it came to abolishing slavery, Lincoln faced a rising battle all the way.
It opens like a campaign ad, and includes black-and-white photos of political rallies and military triumph with inspirational phrase: ‘For every dream, for every belief, for every freedom, there are those who unite us all.’

Actors are trained to be able to portray just about anything their role calls for, but there's one thing even the best actors can't possibly fake: Singing.
That's why we're always so impressed when actors sing on screen rather than just lip-synch some professional musician. Case in point: Next week's "Pitch Perfect," which features stars such as Anna Kendrick and Rebel Wilson belting out tunes like the divas they were meant to be.

While we barely get to even see Daniel Day-Lewis‘ face as our 16th President, we’ve got the very first footage of Steven Spielberg‘s highly-anticipated Lincoln today. It goes without saying that major spoilers on vital, life-changing American history are included below. Yesterday we got the spare, slick poster for Steven Spielberg‘s Lincoln and while a trailer is certainly landing momentarily, a tracklist for John Williams‘ score has popped, giving us a sense of the exact structure of the film. We’ve known for quite some time that the Daniel Day-Lewis-led film, scripted by Tony Kushner, will take place during the final months of our 16th President’s time in office.
But now, thanks to this tracklist from JWFan, more details have been unearthed. From the death of his 11-year-old son Willie to the Battle of Appomattox Court House, which marked the final fight for Confederates, to the Peterson House, where Lincoln was carried to after he was shot, there is more to be gleaned here than most tracklists. Regardless, after the overbearing War Horse...

DreamWorks Studios just sent over the official poster for Steven Spielberg‘s Lincoln, which sees Daniel Day-Lewis take on the role as the one-and-only Abraham Lincoln, the sixteenth President of the United States.
Spielberg has obviously put the entire focus on two-time Academy Award® winner Day-Lewis transformative performance in the movie’s first poster.
The screenplay for this revealing drama was written by Tony Kushner, based on Pulitzer Prize-winner Doris Kearns Goodwin’s biography of Lincoln, ‘Team of Rivals: The Political Genius of Abraham Lincoln’. The first official look at Daniel Day-Lewis as Abraham Lincoln in Steven Spielberg's Lincoln has finally arrived and to no surprise it is a spot on appearance. After yesterday's teaser trailer for Kathryn Bigelow's Zero Dark Thirty, Spielberg's latest is the only "major" Oscar contender yet to give us a trailer, but the arrival of this image tells me a trailer can't be too far behind. Based on the biopic "Team of Rivals: The Political Genius of Abraham Lincoln" by Doris Kearns Goodwin, the film tells the story of the 16th President of the United States and alongside Day-Lewis in the lead role he is joined by Sally Field, Tommy Lee Jones, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Hal Holbrook, James Spader, John Hawkes, Tim Blake Nelson, Bruce McGill, Joseph Cross, Gloria Reuben, David Warshofsky, David Strathairn, Walt Goggins, Lee Pace, Jackie Earle Haley, David Oyelowo and Jared Harris. Shot last fall, we’ve seen a few peeks of Daniel Day-Lewis as our 16th President on set, but now it’s time for the real thing. EW has revealed the first still of the actor in Steven Spielberg‘s Abraham Lincoln biopic, aptly titled Lincoln — and he looks remarkable. The article goes into many other details, which you can check out on their site, but one note of contention was Day-Lewis’ immersion into the performance, as many thought he stayed in complete character for months. Spielberg said even though some people on set called him Mr. President, he “was always conscious of his contemporary surroundings” and “never went into a fugue state. He did not channel Lincoln. All that stuff is just more about gossip than it is about technique.” Check out the still below while we await the first trailer.

One of the major question marks of this year’s fall slate was Steven Spielberg‘s Abraham Lincoln biopic, aptly titled Lincoln. Shot last fall, we got a few peeks of Daniel Day-Lewis as our 16th President, but word has been quiet on when we’ll actually get to see the film. With Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter out of the way, leaving very little impact, Disney and DreamWorks have now set a November 9th, 2012 limited release for the film, before expanding wide on November 16th.
This is earlier than last year’s Spielberg double hitters of War Horse and The Adventures of Tintin arrived in the states, a move perhaps exuding more confidence amidst the strong awards season. But like last year, I doubt we’ll see this one getting a premiere on the fall film festival circuit, as producers previously revealed they want to steer clear of the current presidential election.

At the beginning of the year I made a list of my Top 40 Most Anticipated Movies of 2012. Of that list, it looks like about nine won't be hitting theaters this year and I've now seen 13 of them, which leaves me with only 18 movies and with six months to go I need a little more motivation than just 18 movies and it never hurts to make sure we recharge our batteries and prepare for the home stretch. First, I thought I'd list, in order, my previous Top 40 films including links to reviews and grades for the ones I've seen: Django Unchained Gravity Prometheus (Grade: B / my review) Seven Psychopaths Only God Forgives To Rome with Love (Grade: C+ / my review) The Dark Knight Rises Rust and Bone (Grade: A / my review) Skyfall Amour (Grade: A / my review) Killing Them Softly (Grade: A / my review) The Bourne Legacy The Grandmasters The Place Beyond...

Update: I've already realized I forgot to add Andrew Dominik's Killing Them Softly and John Hillcoat's The Wettest County to this list. That would make 27. I haven't yet gotten around to cleaning up "The Contenders" section of the site just yet and while some may argue it's too early to look toward the 2013 Oscars considering we just closed the book on the 2012 Oscar ceremony I have to kindly disagree. If for no other reason, looking at films that might be vying for Best Picture next year we get to sort through a bunch of films that may end up being considered the year's best. What's wrong with that? Granted, as is often the case when looking this far into the future, several of these films may end up being duds. Some may not actually hit theaters in 2012 (though most do have established release dates) and others just might...
