Fox is developing the one-hour drama “The Miracle Department,” Variety has learned exclusively.
The official logline states, “Based on a real Catholic organization, ‘The Miracle Department’ is a heartfelt, comedic, hour-long series about a brilliant, but disgraced, former FBI agent who joins forces with a quirky task force to hunt for genuine miracles.”
Brendan McCarthy and Alex Kavallierou serve as writers and executive producers on the project. “Friends” co-creator Marta Kauffman will also executive produce via Okay Goodnight along with Robbie Rowe Tollin and Hannah K.S. Canter. Fox Entertainment Studios will produce.
The project marks a reunion for Kauffman, McCarthy, and Kavallierou. Kavallierou and McCarthy were previously writers on the Netflix series “Grace and Frankie,” which Kauffman co-created with Howard J. Morris. Kavallierou has also worked on shows like “Sullivan and Son” as well as “Rob Brydon: Live.”

Film and TV crew members and support staff have been hit hard by the double Hollywood strikes. The latest relief effort, announced last month, comes from Friends co-creator Marta Kauffman, Paul McCrane and Paul Scheer, who are spearheading a live fundraising event in partnership with The Union Solidarity Coalition.
Titled Give Back-ular Spectacular!, the two-hour variety show at The Orpheum Theatre, which will be live-streamed, will showcase about 30 performers, including Jeremy Allen White, Halle Berry, Bryan Cranston, Lily Tomlin, Lil Dicky, LeVar Burton, Kumail Nanjiani and Patton Oswalt. It will feature games, sketches, standup, some improv, musical acts as well as magic from Penn & Teller.
Without revealing too much to not ruin the surprises, Kauffman teased some of the numbers.
“Let me just say, we have a sketch about out-of-work actors auditioning for Magic Mike,” she said. “We have wonderful actors doing monologues they should never be doing, we...

Exclusive: CBS is taking an alternative approach to comedy development with A Lot, an improvisational-style multi-camera series starring June Diane Raphael and Paul Scheer. The project hails from Grace and Frankie creator Marta Kauffman through her Okay Goodnight banner and Lionsgate Television. The project reunites Raphael with Kauffman after her run as a series regular on Grace and Frankie, which ran on Netflix for seven seasons.
Because of the comedy’s improv concept, after hearing the pitch, a decision was made to shoot some material for CBS executives to see rather than trying to script it through the traditional development process.

To celebrate the end of “Grace and Frankie,” Netflix is giving us some extra laughs.
The streamer released a Season 7 blooper reel on Monday, which you can watch above. The video features gaffes from missed lines to blundered fight choreography.
Of course, many of the best moments occur between Lily Tomlin and Jane Fonda as they joke around in between takes — and sometimes during them.
“Ugh, I’m sorry,” Tomlin laments at one point, sinking into a chair. “I forgot my lines. And it’s not because I’m old! It’s because I never learned them.”
The final episodes of the series debuted on Netflix April 29.
Here’s the logline for the final season: “them for… each other. Both sparring partners and partners-in-crime, Grace and Frankie formed an unlikely and unbreakable bond as they faced uncertain futures head-on, and hand-in-hand. They’ve laughed together, cried together, did shrooms together,...

When “Grace and Frankie” debuted in May of 2015, it’s doubtful even creators Marta Kauffman and Howard J. Morris or stars Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin would have expected the show to have such long-lasting sucess. But the Netflix comedy was a juggernaut hit for the streaming platform, and kind of a unicorn in terms of its longevity. Upon its final season, which arrives this month, “Grace and Frankie” is the longest-running Netflix original series in the history of the service. But as the old adage says, all good things must come to an end.
On Thursday, the official trailer for the seventh and final season of “Grace and Frankie” was released by Netflix and the marketing materials tease an emotional farewell to the long-running comedy series.

Legendary actresses Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin have broken records and barriers during their respective, half-century spanning careers, but the two icons are still making history, by leading Netflix’s longest-running original series.
“Grace & Frankie” returns for Season 7 April 29, with both Grace (Fonda) and Frankie (Tomlin) looking to the end.
“I’d rather take a crazy ride with you than a normal ride with anybody else,” Grace tells Frankie, who proposes a “Thelma & Louise”-style sendoff.
From reflecting on the “wasted time” with the men in their lives to facing fears, the two characters have redefined what it means to “act your age.”
“I’m 80 years old,” Grace says in the trailer. “I’ve earned the right to take my sweet fucking time.”

Friday the 13th is known by many as an unlucky day.
But Netflix had a surprise to wash those feelings away on Friday morning:
The streamer dropped the first four episodes of the seventh and final season.
The reason?
Fans have waited long enough for the final season.
“It’s been quite the year and a half, and we could all use a duo like Grace and Frankie in our lives right about now,” Netflix said in a statement.
“So, as a treat, Jane and Lily are giving you the first four episodes of the seventh and final season of Grace and Frankie.”
It was previously announced that with Season 7’s final 16-episode order, Grace and Frankie, produced by Skydance Television, will make history as the longest-running Netflix original series ever, out of both comedy and drama, with 94 episodes.

Netflix has surprise-released the first four episodes of “Grace and Frankie” Season 7 months ahead of the show’s formal return.
The first four installments of the Netflix comedy’s 16-episode final season are now available to stream on the platform. Stars Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin recorded a video announcing the surprise premiere (apparently the second choice to surprising fans with Del Taco gift cards) that was released on the show’s social media accounts Friday.
The final 12 episodes of the season will air sometime in 2022.
“Grace and Frankie” was picked up for a seventh and final season nearly two years ago, but production on the final season was delayed by the pandemic. By the time the show wraps up next year, it will be Netflix’s longest-running original series with a total of 94 episodes.
Showrunner Marta Kauffman teased some of what to expect from the final season in an interview with TheWrap last year.

“Grace and Frankie” isn’t only about women. It isn’t only about the elderly, either. But the Netflix comedy is taking its representative role for both groups very seriously, including when it comes to how the show is made.

HBO has been firing on all cylinders lately, throwing at us some of the finest television that we’ve seen in ages. With critics currently singing the praises of The Night Of, the network has now ordered up another mystery series in the form of We Are All Completely Beside Ourselves, and they’ve brought in Natalie Portman to star.
Adapted from Karen Joy Fowler’s award-winning novel of the same name, Variety describes the plot as follows:
The story centers on college student Rosemary Cooke (Portman), whose “twin sister” disappeared when she was five years old, with her older brother following not long after.
Said to be twist-heavy, having not read the book myself I can’t comment much more on what happens, but from what I’ve heard it’s supposed to be quite a good story and one which will no doubt make for compelling television.
