If you count “Battleship” among your favorite movies of the last few years and are inordinately excited for the upcoming “Ouija” sequel, prepare for good news. The Tracking Board is reporting that 20th Century Fox is remaking “Clue” along with Hasbro, most likely to the dismay of fans of the 1985 adaptation — a cult classic that, whatever its flaws, was certainly ahead of the board-game-adaptation curve.

Once believed to be a shoo-in for the Captain Marvel gig, TheWrap brings word today that Emily Carmichael – a director who has enjoyed notable success in the indie scene with a string of eye-catching shorts, including The Hunter and the Swan Discuss Their Meeting – has agreed terms to helm the Lumberjanes adaptation for 20th Century Fox.
First hatched as an eight-part limited series two years ago, Shannon Watters, Noelle Stevenson, Grace Ellis and Brooke Allen are the brains behind the “female version of The Goonies.” Since that humble debut, Lumberjanes has gone on to attract a strong and impassioned following – and that’s something Fox will be keen to foster as the comic book preps to jump onto the big screen.
In fact, TheWrap notes that Lumberjanes is considered a priority at the studio, which was first pitched via Kira Goldberg and Emma Watts. As the adaptation began to develop,...

Brad Peyton will be directing Malignant Man, for producer James Wan...
San Andreas director Brad Peyton will be taking on disasters of a more supernatural kind for his new project. He'll be teaming up with James Wan to co-direct Malignant Man, the Boom! Studios graphic novel about a cancer-patient-turned-mutant-hero which Wan co-wrote and Fox is adapting to film.
Malignant Man is the story of terminal cancer patient Alex Gates, who believes that a malignant tumor is gnawing away at what days he has left until he finds out the even more ghastly truth. What he thought was a tumor is actually an alien parasite that has been unknowingly giving Gates a transfusion of paranormal powers.
Not unlike like the genetically engineered spiders that bite Peter Parker and turn him into a web-slinging superhuman, the alien bloodsucker mutates Gates into something of a hybrid hero with a new lease on life. He is assigned to fight an evil army creeping under the skin of society, as he slowly unravels secrets about his path that lead to the truth about what seems to be a symbiotic connection between him and the parasite.
Wan, who has just come off the second installments of The Conjuring and Insidious, will be producing Malignant Man under his Atomic Monster label. Executive producing with Wan are Peyton and his partner Jeff Fierson, with Boom! Studios’ Adam Yoelin, Stephen Christy and Ross Richie co-producing and Matt Reilly and Ryan Jones overseeing for Fox.
Zak Olkewicz drafted the screenplay. We wait to see just where the film will land on Peyton's busy slate, given that he's also got Rampage, Journey 3 and San Andreas 2 in various stages of development.
Meanwhile, Boom! has been revving up several of its smash graphic novels to take the leap from printed page to big screen. Irredeemable, has just snagged director Adam McKay, and The Empty Man is currently in preproduction.
No release date for Malignant Man has been released yet since it is still in development, but the prognosis looks positive.

You want a live-action female-led comic book adaptation? 20th Century Fox could have just the thing. While it is certainly no Black Widow, Lumberjanes is a title with a fast-growing, dedicated and loyal fanbase, and it is now headed to a big screen near you – courtesy of Kira Goldberg and Emma Watts, who kickstarted the project at Fox, while producers Ryan Jones, Ross Richie, Stephen Christy and Adam Yoelin are also on board for the studio.
First published in 2014 by Boom! Studios, Lumberjanes was intended to be an eight issue limited series, but was upgraded to an ongoing endeavour by the time the second issue was released. While there are undoubtedly starrier titles on our list of the The 21 Best Films Of 2014 We've Already Seen, the real pleasure of moviegoing is discovering hidden gems and new talents, and that's exactly what happened last year when we stumbled across "Hide Your Smiling Faces." It's a film that we praised in our review from the Tribeca Film Festival last year as one that "skillfully articulates the inexpressible; the weird, beautiful struggle that is life," and while the movie earned an award from the National Society Of Film Critics as one of the best Films Still Awaiting U.S. Distribution, the good news is a deal has been struck. And a trailer is here to give a taste of what to expect. Directed by Daniel Patrick Carbone, and starring Ryan Jones, Nathan Varnson, Thomas Cruz, Christina Starbuck, Colm O'Leary, and Chris Kies, the film tells the story of two adolescent brothers who grapple with life,...

Walden Media and Anschutz Film Group has promoted general counsel Frank Smith to the position of COO as part of a broader corporate restructuring, the “Chronicles of Narnia” producer said Thursday. Smith will oversee day-to-day operations as the company behind “Journey to the Center of the Earth” and “Bridge to Terabithia” expands into television and animation. Afg CEO David Weil is stepping down at the end of the year, so Smith will run the show with the help of Walden co-founder and President Micheal Flaherty, publishing chief Chip Flaherty, CFO Ryan Jones and Naja Cucukov, VP of production and development.

Walden Media has announced a restructure as it emerged that David Weil, current CEO of parent company Anschutz Film Group (Afg), will leave the company at the end of the year.
Longtime general counsel and head of business affairs Frank Smith (pictured) becomes COO of Walden Media, the family producer behind the first three The Chronicles Of Narnia films and the Journey To The Center Of The Earth series.
Walden is supported by a renewable media fund backed by Afg that allows it to finance most third-party features, TV series and animated content as well as invest P&A funding and gap financing in select projects.
The first-look deal with 20th Century Fox remains intact, however Walden is free to partner with any distributors on those projects it co-finances and co-produces with outside partners.
Working alongside Smith and Walden Media president and co-founder Micheal Flaherty will be Chip Flaherty, who heads Walden Media’s Publishing division.

Exclusive: In a mid-six-figure deal, 20th Century Fox has acquired The Asset, a thriller that will be written by Morgan Davis Foehl, who with Michael Mann co-scripted Cyber, the film Mann is helming. Maybe it’s the fact that sophisticated movies such as Gravity, Captain Phillips and 12 Years A Slave are doing well, but there seems to be a renewed level of vigor for specs and pitches lately. This one had Paramount, Universal, Warner Bros and Sony all circling with producers, before Fox and Scott Free made the deal on Friday. Ridley Scott and Michael Schaefer will be the producers. A former Army Ranger is enlisted to infiltrate a dangerous group of ex-Special Forces soldiers living overseas who have revolted against the U.S. government by assassinating confidential informants all over the world. The project was brought in by Scott Free’s Michael Pruss and Fox execs Mark Roybal and Ryan Jones.

This Saturday, at Comic-Con 2013, Sandra Bullock and writer/director Alfonso Cuarón talked to press about their new Warner Bros. Pictures project Gravity, set to release October 4, 2013.
In this Sci-Fi thriller, Dr. Ryan Jones (Sandra Bullock) is a brilliant medical engineer on her first shuttle mission, with veteran astronaut Matt Kowalsky (George Clooney). But on a seemingly routine spacewalk, disaster strikes. The shuttle is destroyed, leaving Stone and Kowalsky completely alone – tethered to nothing but each other and spiraling out into the blackness. The deafening silence tells them they have lost any link to Earth… and any chance for rescue. As fear turns to panic, every gulp of air eats away at what little oxygen is left. But the only way home may be to go further out into the terrifying expanse of space.
What were some of the challenges of this film being more factual as oppose to fantastical sci-fi?...

Today is the eleventh anniversary of September 11. I lost several friends in New York City in the towers that day, and was living in Washington, D.C. at the time, and saw armored personnel carriers roll down the street. I don't care to live in fear of that day, or use it as a call to war, but today, I take a moment and remember the people I lost from my life that day.

Wales completed a historic third Grand Slam in seven years by beating France in Cardiff to win this year’s Six Nations. Let us know your thoughts on the game either in the comments below or on Twitter @BallinTouch
Super Saturday continued with an atmospheric Millennium Stadium brimming with expectation of another Welsh Grand Slam and hope that France didn’t beat them like they did at their last meeting at the World Cup.
The French had requested the roof be kept open, meaning the pitch was slick and inviting to handling errors. When Beauxis pinged a drop goal attempt low and wide in the opening seconds, the way the ball skimmed across the grass made it clear how wet the ground was.
Nonetheless, Wales started the game as they had for the whole tournament, trying to play. Jonathan Davies made some inroads to test the French defence, but a...

Wales continued their quest for the Grand Slam whilst Italy were desperate to avoid another wooden spoon in Cardiff on Saturday.Let us know what you thought of the game either in the comments below or on Twitter @Ballintouch
Wales had retained as much of the line up from their last match as possible with Justin Tipuric making his first start in the place of the injured Sam Warburton. Italy made a raft of changes after their disappointing loss last time out to Ireland, with Kris Burton taking back the ten shirt from the less than impressive Botes.
Italy, clearly incensed by a less than satisfying outing last time were clearly keen to deny Wales any periods of quick ball, setting to at the coalface as is their way. With Wales in the unique position of favourites for this match at Twickenham, all the talk was about the callowness of the starting England side and the size of the Welsh backline.
It was the gigantic George North who almost drew first blood, two scything runs cutting the England defence to pieces and taking the Welsh into the English 22. Unlike the Irish in the earlier game of the day, Wales were in no mood to start slowly.

Guyism's Ryan Jones took the streets to ask children which movies they thought were worthy of an Academy Award, and these youngsters don't hold anything back.
One sassy lady even declares she prefers the movie "Hugo" to her friend by the same name.
The kids weigh on important issues including Meryl Streep's performance in "The Iron Lady" and the meaning behind "The Tree of Life."
Sadly, group favorites Ashton Kutcher and Selena Gomez weren't among this year's nominees, but, hey, there's always 2013.

All the talk was predictably about the World Cup quarter-final between these two sides that was won by the Welsh and led to their failed semi-final effort against France. It’s the game no one wants to play in. Ultimately it doesn’t mean much; it is just a badge, to finish on a high despite the looming shadow of Sunday’s Final reminding those involved of what could have been. But on Friday one of these sides will be deemed “third best team in the world”.
On paper it doesn’t sound bad, being third best considering there are plenty more teams below you in the pecking order. But the wounds are still too raw either both teams to appreciate that fact, the healing effect of time yet to be given a chance to soothe.
Both sides could feasibly have been playing two days later and both will feel aggrieved not to be there. The Welsh arguably have a greater justification to be annoyed, given the performance they put in against the French considering they went an hour...

The anticipation had been simmering all week, coming to the boil on Saturday and regardless of form, the look in the eyes of both teams said it all. Passion was palatable during the Anthems, the coverage showing an absolutely packed Millenium Stadium back in Cardiff of Welshmen willing their boys on.
The kick-off forced France to put the ball out immediately, prompting the Welsh to maul the resulting lineout with alarming speed to within ten metres of the French line before errors dampened this effort. France responded with vigour, putting in several similarly determined drives into the oppositions half before a lack of precision (front rows trying to pass) ceased any opportunity.
After five minutes James Hook was given the opportunity to score the first points of the day from inside the French 22. Despite been next to the touchline, he curled it through the posts beautifully.

We're pleased to present the latest short film from writer/director Patrick Rea entitled "Get Off My Porch", which was shot in Patrick's stomping grounds of Kansas City and Lawrence, Kansas.
It's a horror comedy about a man terrorized by two young girls insisting that he buy a box of their cookies. The cast includes Brad Meehan, Katherine McNamara, and Andrea Strickler; and assisting Rea were Hanuman Brown-Eagle, director of photography, and Ryan Jones, editor and sound engineer. Harry Manfredini composed the score, which really goes a long way toward pulling together the film's comic and creepy elements. It was executive produced by Free State Studios.
"Porch" will be screening at the A Nightmare to Remember Film Festival in San Francisco on June 26th and at the Fright Night Film Festival, which runs July 30th-August 1st in Louisville, Kentucky.
