Athletic, outgoing and humorous, Leslie Dixon Jr. is a music executive
and actor based in New York City. He was born in 1967 in Vauxhall, New
Jersey, the racially segregated section of Union Township, New Jersey.
Union Township had already spawned actors Robert Wuhl and Ray Liotta
while Leslie Dixon Jr. was a classmate and friend of actor Artie Lang.
He was the only child in the marriage of Leslie Dixon Sr., a Black
Cowboy/Horse Trainer and Margo Ann Dixon, a secretary and local gospel
singer. After his parents' divorce he gained 3 younger sisters. Leslie
Dixon Jr. inherited his natural athleticism from his father and it paid
dividends at a young age. In 1978 he was chosen as the lead actor,
playing basketball, in a national Boys Clubs of America commercial
featuring O.J. Simpson themed "The Club That Beats The Streets". In
high school he became a star athlete on Union High School's state
championship and nationally ranked football team. He went on to gain
all-state and All-American honors in Track and Field. This led to over
100 scholarship offers and he chose to attend the University of
Maryland, College Park as a sprinter. The choice of the University of
Maryland was a fortuitous one. During his years at the College Park
campus Dixon became a mentor to a young Aaron Macguder as he was
creating the Boondocks and actor Michael Ealy was also a student there
at the time.
After graduating with a communications degree in 1993, he began a career in the music industry that spanned 15 years. He worked at labels such as Capitol Distribution, Virgin Records, TVT Records and Fubu Records. Dixon is primarily known as the marketing genius who was responsible for the platinum success of Lil Jon's first two albums and Snoop Dogg and the Eastsidaz platinum success. He also worked personally on albums or soundtracks with artists such as actresses Milla Jovovich, Janet Jackson, Sandra Bullock and with actor Wesley Snipes on the Blade 1 soundtrack. He is currently working on the soundtrack for the film Humanatomy (2007). In Humanatomy he also turns in a breakthrough acting debut as Mr. Gruber the Music Executive. Leslie Dixon Jr.'s partnership with Producer/Director/Writer Bobby E. Goins has set the stage for even bigger on screen roles to come in the very near future.
