Exclusive: The Edward James Olmos immigrant drama Windows on the World is set to exclusively premiere on April 23 on the free Latino-focused streaming service Vix. The film originally planned a theatrical debut this summer, but like many other films, it is adapting to the box office shutdown and shifting to streaming for its worldwide theatrical release.
Vix is an ideal platform for Windows on the World, as it has doubled its audience in March and its watch-time was spearheaded by a 70% lift in mobile viewing. Considering the current landscape of at-home viewing via streaming, Windows on the World will add to Vix’s growth.

Edward James Olmos has appeared in many films that explore what it means to be Mexican in America, but “Windows on the World” is one that he believes is truly special.
“I’ve done some really great pieces of story that I’ve had great passion for, and this is right there with him. I can’t believe that we got this on the screen.”
The famed actor spoke at TheWrap’s Screening Series alongside his son, Michael, who directed the movie, and screenwriter Robert Mailer Anderson. “Windows on the World” tells the story of America’s migrant workers through 9/11, as Olmos plays an aging Mexican named Balthazar who travels to New York and becomes an undocumented worker at the World Trade Center’s famed restaurant, Windows on the World. When the towers are destroyed, Balthazar’s son, Fernando (Ryan Guzman), follows in his father’s footsteps in order to...

Edward James Olmos (Battlestar Galactica) and Ryan Guzman (Step Up: Revolution, Everbody Wants Some) are set to star in a new film is described by Variety as a father and son drama set in the aftermath of 9/11.
It's called Windows on the World and the story starts out in Mexico "where a man watches the news on Sept. 11, 2001, with his family." As he watches the terrorist attack unfold on TV he's compelled to go to New York City to find his father, who was working on the top floor of the Twin Towers. The film is named after The Windows on the World venues, which were on the top floors of the North Tower.
This certainly sounds like a powerful and emotional story. Olmos is a great actor and It's always great to see him land a feature film role. I have no doubt he'll be great in the film!

Washington -- Looks like Al Green will get to return the favor to President Barack Obama for making his 1971 classic "Let's Stay Together" popular again -- and sending his record sales through the roof.
Green will perform for the president and his supporters at a campaign fundraiser in San Francisco on Thursday night. "He'll be performing at the dinner at a private residence this evening," an Obama campaign aide told The Huffington Post.
Obama is slated to give remarks at a campaign event in San Francisco at 7:10 p.m. Pst, according to his daily schedule. ABC News reported Thursday that the event is taking place at the home of novelist Robert Mailer Anderson, with tickets priced at $38,500 each.
The president unexpectedly started singing the beginning of Green's song from the podium during a Jan. 19 fundraiser. Within a matter of days, videos of Obama singing went viral on YouTube and...

Pig Hunt StillDirector: James Isaac.
Writers: Robert Mailer Anderson and Zack Anderson.
Pig Hunt was another 2010 Fangoria Filmfest entry and the film is currently being distributed by Lightning Entertainment on the Blockbuster-on-demand feature, with a DVD release forthcoming in September. The film is from horror director James Isaac (Skinwalkers, Jason X) and the film has been described as "Pig Hunt is just a routine thriller" by the San Francisco Chronicle and by Chris Bumbray at Joblo as "Pighunt is one of the few films...where I honestly did not know where it was going from one scene to the next." So, what is the real story on Pig Hunt? The film is a strange twisted combination of David Arquette's campers lost in the woods The Tripper and Lake Placid, where a wild monster goes on a dining rampage consisting of wilderness lovers. Overall, Isaac adds in enough unique plot...

Pig Hunt wrapped up some film festival coverage in 2009 by attending the Chicago Horror Film Festival and the film has been released already in the United Kingdom, but what of North America? The film, unfortunately, does not have North American distribution yet, despite being completed in 2008 in Boonville California. That is right, an American made horror film has been released in the United Kingdom before North America. How is that for globalization?
In the trailer there is much action, much bumbling, and some good laughs, as a group of rednecks terrorize some city-slickers. Check out the 3000 lb boar below.

This scribe and my bowling team - Dread Central’s ‘The Horror Starlets’ comprised of Carlee (Wicked Lake, the upcoming Alluvial) Baker, Heather (The Poughkeepsie Tapes, Alluvial) Snell, Brooke Lewis(iMurders), and Tracy (Dark Woods) Coogan - took part in Tuesday night’s fifth annual non-profit Bowling for Boobies Los Angeles breast cancer event, and we wish to thank those in the horror community who so generously donated to this wonderful cause (see the list below).
Culminating at Jillian’s Hi-Life at Universal City Walk with a red carpet, a night of bowling, and the paparazzi snapping away (see our photo gallery below), the charity - run by founder Stephanie Lahart of the Busted Foundation - raised over $80,000, with our team (who received an award for ‘Best Look’) contributing $5,000 of that total. As they do each year, the proceeds will benefit local Los Angeles women battling breast cancer.
Thanks...

Sean "The Butcher" Smithson here. Sometime scribe for these here pages at Dread Central, sometime horror host, sometime jungle explorer, sometime exorcist, even sometime astronaut. But this time I'm here reporting on what it's like to help organize events and program films for a horror convention. Or at least, what it was like for me at this particular con, CryptiCon Seattle 2009.
First off, there was an entire season of bi-weekly meetings, where we slowly zeroed in on having the vendors tables sold (it's this that mainly pays for the con expenses), hashed out which guests we'd like to invite (and then the rigmarole of who confirms, second choices, etc), and brainstormed ideas for panels and events. A lot of the things came together slow-as-molasses at first, then built to a torrent of hurry-up-and-get-it-done in the final weeks. For instance, two out of three of my tent pole films, which I...

Fango hosted the West Coast premiere of director Jim Isaac’s Pig Hunt last night at the Egyptian Theatre in Hollywood, CA, and brought back a handful of photos (see them below), as well as an inherently warm feeling, given the festivities and the raucous audience response the flick received. Kicking off with an actual pig roast and hour-long set by Pig Hunt actor and celebrated blues musician Charlie Musslewhite, the event saw a packed courtyard and house.
On hand were Pig Hunt scripter Robert Mailer Anderson and director Isaac (pictured in first photo, who introduced the screening with Fango), plus cast members Travis Aaron Wade, Tina Huang, Howard Johnson Jr., Trevor Bullock, Rajiv Shah, Jason Foster, Nick Tagas and actor/Primus musician Les Claypool. In five years of hosting horror openings at the Egyptian, this scribe (pictured in third photo with Hayley Dees) has never seen a more positive...

Normally, May 5th is an excuse to get drunk. But this year's Cinco de Mayo was an excuse to get drunk and go on a Pig Hunt . This week, Jim Isaac's ( Jason X , Skinwalkers ) latest film had its West Coast premiere at the wonderful Egyptian Theater in Hollywood. The film centers around a group of friends caught between a rock and a hard place in the middle of the Northern California woods. In this case, the rock is a bunch of crazed hillbillies and the hard place is a monster pig with a taste for human flesh. I asked co-writer and producer Robert Mailer Anderson what inspired him to write the film. "My cousin [and co-writer] Zack and I come from a part of the world that unless you want to make a horror movie, no one will believe what happens there. There's a bunch of hogs up...

Fangoria is hosting the West Coast premiere of Pig Hunt, Jason X director Jim Isaac’s action-packed horror-thriller, at the American Cinematheque’s Egyptian Theater in Los Angeles (6712 Hollywood Boulevard) tomorrow night, Tuesday, May 5 at 7:30 p.m. Isaac and his cast and crew will be attending, as well as many other special guests (see below). The event will also feature free giveaways, live performances and a few crazy stunts guaranteed to make for a memorable night.
Pig Hunt follows a bunch of macho city friends as they head into the backwoods of Northern California to hunt wild porkers, only to encounter crazed rednecks, half-nude cult girls, assorted other human miscreants and a savage, 3,000-pound flesheating boar right out of Razorback. Critic Zack Smith of Indyweek.com calls Pig Hunt “Damn fun from start to finish,” while Mitch Davis of Montreal’s Fantasia film festival says, “The wildest American horror film of the year…...

[My thanks to Sean “The Butcher” Smithson for the following bit of news. Poster art, incidentally, by a certain Icelander we know rather well around here.]
The latest offering from director Jim isaac (Jason X, Skinwalkers) comes to the Egyptian Theater on Tuesday, May 5’th for a special one-off screening. Written and produced by noted author Robert Mailer Anderson (Boonville), this is one sizzling hot slice of giant killer pig mayhem you are not going to want to miss. If the idea of crazed bible thumping rednecks, dope growing cult women, and a 3,000 lb. swine with a taste for human flesh sounds like a good time at the movies to you then you ‘aint gonna be dissapointed neighbor! I had the good fortune of seeing it up here in my home of Seattle, and can give this film my wholehearted endorsement. Harkening back to flicks like Deliverence, Razorback, and Piranha, Pig Hunt is a genre bending ass-kicker that is sure to please, especially fans of the golden era of John Sayles. Do yourselves a favor if...

Check out the trailer for the film, and a current list of upcoming screenings after the jump.
