Jimmy Rodney Smith
Jimmy Smith II grew up in Beaverton, Oregon while his father Jimmy
Smith Sr. was working as a copywriter at Wieden+Kennedy. He spent most
of his early childhood and teenage years full invested in basketball,
it wasn't until after a short professional basketball career in Europe
and a move to Los Angeles that he decided to pursue film full-time.
In 2011, Jimmy directed his first music video, "All Along"-Kid Cudi. Kid Cudi himself posted the video on his official Facebook page and the video has earned nearly 500,000 views on youtube. Although the video was unofficial it still garnered a lot of attention, and soon after the video many artists were in contact with Jimmy to have videos directed. One artist was award winning recording artist and producer, David Banner.
David Banner approached Jimmy about doing an official music video for his lead single for his upcoming album Sex, Drugs & Video Games. The lead single featured Chris Brown and the video premiered on MTV and BET.
Jimmy works with Righteous Rebels Entertainment. Righteous Rebels Ent. is a Los Angeles based production company owned & operated by Jimmy and Jarrel Smith (brother), Righteous Rebels focuses on all aspects of film and creativity. Whether it's music videos, short films, or feature films, Righteous Rebels creates the most unique and mind blowing projects.
Jimmy also frequently collaborates with his father, Jimmy Smith Sr. His father is the CEO and CCO at Amusement Park Ent.
