At age seventeen Wray was diagnosed with ovarian cancer, which fortunately was removed by lasers and without chemotherapy. Her first job was as an umpire for a youth softball league. Wray signed up with Pleasure Productions as their first contract girl in two years in the summer of 2006; she did her first boy/girl scene on film with Lee Stone and her first girl/girl scene with Nicki Hunter. Tera frequently appeared in explicit features done in the alt porn genre and was one of the first performers to do a hardcore scene while her partner received a tattoo in the X-rated outing Tattooed & Tight (2007).
A devout aficionado of heavy metal music, Wray served as the hostess for Matt Zane's adult-oriented music series Radium (2007), in which Wray not only interviewed rock musicians and attended concerts, but also performed in sex scenes. Tera went on to join and travel with Ozzy Osbourne's Ozzfest Summer Tour in 2007 as a Hustler Lingerie model. During her time with Ozzfest Wray met and began dating Wayne Static, who was the lead singer of the metal band Static-X. Tera and Wayne got married in Las Vegas, Nevada on January 10, 2008. Wray announced her retirement from the adult entertainment industry in August, 2008. Alas, Static died at age 48 on November 1, 2014. Tera sank into a deep depression in the wake of her husband's untimely death. Her body was found dead in her California apartment on January 14, 2016. - I have just always been different than the other people around me. In high school I was voted most unique and most ambitious by my classmates. It wasn't most unique in a bad way I had always just been different. I always wanted to stand out. I didn't want to blend in with everybody. What fun is that? I want the attention.
- I've pretty much been obsessed with porn ever since I can remember. I started watching it at a really young age. I was in fourth grade when I first started watching it and I started getting really familiar with my body. I used to tell everybody at such a young age that being a porn star was what I wanted to be some day. The more people that are out there watching me, it excites me more. Knowing that other people are watching me while they are in their homes and getting off to me gets me off. It is more of the fact of knowing that other people are out there and enjoying it. That does it for me. I've always told everybody that this is what I wanted to do.
- [from an interview in 2007] When I would watch porn when I was younger it was all girl/girl stuff. That's what actually turned me on. Now, I love everything. I love cock so much. When I was younger all that I saw was the girl/girl stuff. Being from a small, rural county and a small town, girl/girl stuff was really unheard of. It was something different to me and something that was considered to be bad. It excited me. Women's bodies are so beautiful with all of their curves, their softness and their innocence in a way. It was bad at the time and I guess that is why I liked it so much.
- [on the most pleasant surprises after getting into porn] Everything. The attention. The fucking. The sucking. Going around and meeting the fans. Going to Las Vegas was incredible. Seeing all the people. I love doing signings. I like to interact with the people that are watching my stuff. Like I said, that is what gets me off is them enjoying it. They shouldn't enjoy watching someone who is stuck-up. I like hanging out with everybody.
- [on hosting the adult-oriented music series Radium (2007)] I'm what you call a "Band-aid with benefits;" I'm not a groupie. I really appreciate music. It's a big part of my life. These guys and girls have a lot of talent and are very inspiring to me.
