Archie Comics has announced a one-shot crossover with Sharknado.
Archie vs Sharknado will team the vintage comic book characters with Syfy's B-movie franchise.
The comic follows on the heels of the newly launched Archie vs Predator series.
Sharknado series director Anthony C Ferrante is writing the comic with art by Dan Parent.
"The Sharknado franchise has soared in popularity due partly to the variety of great celebrities, who bravely encounter this unnatural menace," Syfy VP Jeff Li told Deadline.
"Sharknado survivors come in all forms. It's only natural that Archie and the gang will get a chance to save their town from flying sharks."
Archie vs Sharknado will be released on July 22, on the same day that Sharknado 3: Oh Hell No! premieres.

Last summer, Syfy’s Sharknado became a full-blown cultural phenomenon. Although absurdly silly in plot – it’s based around a waterspout that lifts sharks out of the ocean and into Los Angeles – the made-for-tv movie provided the sort of mindless popcorn-munching fun that many seek out during the summer months. The success of Sharknado prompted the Syfy Channel to create Sharknado 2, which will premiere on July 30th. But even that wasn’t enough; not only does Sharknado have a sequel in the near future, but now a video game as well.
The success of Sharknado among the 18-32 demographic contributed to Syfy’s decision to look into creating a game based on the movie. “It’s instantly accessible to anyone, young or old,” Syfy VP Jeff Li explained. “I don’t care what your cultural background is, you don’t even have to follow the story. You don’t have to read the book.

By the time Sharknado 2 premieres on the Syfy Channel on July 30, the first spin-off video game will have mobile and tablet players racing to destroy shark-infested tornados threatening New York City. After Sharknado became a cultural phenomena last summer, Syfy, owned by NBC Universal, and Asylum, the L.A. based producer, began looking for a licensing partner to produce video games — a natural brand extension with appeal to the cult film’s audience. List Hollywood's 100 Favorite Films "It’s instantly accessible to anyone young or old," says Syfy vp Jeff Li. "I don’t care what

A version of this story first appeared in the June 27 issue of The Hollywood Reporter magazine. Syfy was shocked when Sharknado became a phenomenon in August. "We've done 300 of these original monster and disaster movies, and we never thought there would be any people would care about like this," says Syfy Ventures vp Jeff Li, "but within 24 hours [of the first movie airing] our agency called and said, 'Somebody is interested [in doing a licensing deal],' and we saw on the news it was blowing up."
